Chapter 9 : Time Will Tell > A Seto Kaiba Love Story > pt. 7
A little short again, I know. People, if you do not message me with ideas, I really am going to run out of them. I'd love to hear from you even if you message about nothing relating to suggestions, though. Please, I want to know who reads my quizzes other than StarDragon.
“Did I ever tell you that I hate the first amendment?” you ask, in a rather calm tone. Looking up from the paper you held in your hand, you watched as Seto walked towards you. “What does it say now?” he asked, pulling out a chair and sitting down next to Mokuba. You looked across the table at the two of them, before lifting the sheet so that you can read it to them. “Front page story. ‘It seems that Seto Kaiba has taken ______ _______, and when questioned as to why, he seemed very defensive. Added to how protective he was of her, her dress seemed like an attempt to cover up something. Has Seto Kaiba gotten his girlfriend pregnant?’” you read, your tone still remarkably calm while you finished the first few sentences. You drop the paper, and once again look at the two brothers across from you. Then, after a few seconds of silence, you jump up from the seat and wave your hands at your stomach. “Do I fuckin’ look pregnant?” you said, much less calmer than you had been before. “No, no, definitely not,” Seto said, quickly jumping up from the table and walking over to you. Mokuba shook his head in agreement. “Yeah, don’t worry about those stupid articles,” he said, though he was quick to get out of the room, as he could sense that he wasn’t going to like the conversation. You had to smile at that, but you looked to Seto with the same look you had before. “You’re sure?” you asked, hands on your stomach. It was very well toned, and you knew it, but like any other girl in the world, you had the right to flip out a bit over the article. He placed his hands over yours, and gently lifted them to his shoulders as he brought you into a tight hug. “There’s no doubt in my mind.” You sighed, already over your little break down. “I wonder why they even made that amendment. The only thing it’s good for is spreading lies and telling the weather. Which, could probably go under lies,” you say, walking back over to the countertop, and staring at the toaster. “It won’t burn the house down,” you say, but Seto had already pulled you away from it, being more dramatic just to make you laugh. “You don’t know that,” he said as he slipped something into your hand. Curious, you opened your hand, only to see the bracelet he had given you three years ago. You smiled, looking back over it, and noticed that it still had the sapphire gems against the white gold background. You put it on your wrist, and turned to look at him. “I always wondered where you got the money for it.” You kissed him lightly before continuing to admire the craftsmanship of the bracelet. Looking back at the kitchen table, your eyes fell on the paper you had tossed aside. School should be interesting. And it was. The second you got into the school, arriving of course in the limo with Seto, everyone turned and stared. That was the second worst thing about dating someone as famous as Kaiba. Brushing past all the people who were staring, you ran into your friends in the hallway. “Do I look fat?” you asked, smiling because you knew that you didn’t. They looked up and obviously disagreed, which left you laughing. Seto stood diagonally behind you, not really caring to take part in your little gathering. Out of the corner of your eye, you saw Hannah walking down the hallway, a furious glare in her eye. “You know, I’m not so sure I hate that amendment anymore,” you said, leaning up to give Seto a quick kiss. You smirked when you saw Hannah’s glare intensify.
Your classes were mainly normal, all of them except English, of course. Mrs. Jones once again had to contemplate where the seating should be. “Miss. Summers? Would you kindly switch seats with Miss. _______? I don’t see why the seats have to remain switched any longer.” You had to laugh slightly, but didn’t bother to tell her that you definitely were not pregnant. Whatever got Hannah away from Seto. You grabbed your books, and headed back over to your old seat, but as you passed Hannah, she purposely bumped into you, hard. The force was so strong that you weren’t sure whether she had pushed you with all her might or what. You fell, but it wasn’t the ground that you hit. You were dealt a serious blow from the corner of a table, and it hit you in your abdomen. A cry of pain rang out, and instantly you felt yourself being lifted by strong arms. Your hands wrapped around your stomach, which hurt like hell. “MISS. SUMMERS!” you heard called out, after several shouts of surprise, and a few winces from those who were close enough to see you hit the table corner. You noticed that you were being placed on one of the tables, and that Seto was looking at you with fear in his eyes. “I’m okay— I’m okay.” You managed, but he still didn’t look convinced. “Really, it’s—” You paused, the pain slowly going away. “It’s fine— I’m fine,” you declared, and hopped off the desk, standing before Seto, who was holding you up. Though he didn’t look as confident as you, he took your word for it and let stand on your own. “I didn’t mean to!” you hear the fake cry of surprise coming from Hannah. Stepping forward, still in a small bit of pain, you walked right up to her. “B U L L S H I T.” you spelled out, your tone almost icy enough to compete with Seto’s. You hadn’t forgotten the fact that you had been pushed at a specific angle so that you would hit the corner with your abdomen. That bitch. She had tried to make you have a miscarriage. If you were pregnant, at least, which to her knowledge you were. The teacher didn’t seem to care that you had just spelled out a word that went against the rules that the principal preached about, luckily. She dropped the act, knowing that it wasn’t worth it, and instead continued to glare at you. “Despite the fact that I am NOT PREGNANT,” you started, instantly seeing something flicker in her eyes, though you weren’t sure whether it was relief or regret. “I’m still going to kill you!” You tossed your arm, swinging it full force, but felt a hand grab you before you could reach her. “Seto, let me kill her!” you called, without even looking back. Struggling to hit her, you attempted to kick out, but she had been given the time to back out of reach. “I’m not stopping you,” came Seto’s reply, who, upon looking back, you noticed was standing near you, but certainly wasn’t holding you back. You turned completely to see that it was Tristain holding you back. “Sorry, _____, but I don’t want you arrested for murder,” You yanked your arms out of his grasp, and he let you, knowing that you wouldn’t try anything again.
“Happy now?” you asked as you fell backwards onto the blue sheets. “Very,” Seto said as he sat down beside you. He had forced you to get checked by a doctor anyways, just to be safe, and the doctor had just left. You noticed that he still seemed a little distant, and you looked him in the eyes, a bit confused. Leaning forward, you kissed him tauntingly, and pulled back a few inches. “You even have your reports to prove that I’m fine,” you said, dipping forward to kiss him one more time before backing up again. But the second that your head pulled away, a hand on the back of it pulled you into another kiss, this one deeper. He slowly leaned you back onto the bed, never once breaking the kiss. “But…” you said, pulling away again to tease him, He began to duck back down again, but you put a hand over his mouth so that you could finish your sentence. “I want to grab something to eat first,” you said, copying one of his smirks as you read his expression. He held you down for a moment longer, quickly leaning down to kiss you. The blast of passion had your heart beating faster, and you went limp under him. “Still hungry?” he asked, smirking at your reaction. You had to think it over before you came up with an answer. “I’ll hurry,” you said, slipping out of the room and quickly jogging down the steps. You hesitated when you reached the bottom of the stairs, and looked around the rooms. The lights were out rather early, you noticed, but you weren’t going to be a baby about it. Flicking on a light switch, you noticed that the lights still didn’t go on. “Damn bulbs,” you said, seeing that the clock on the microwave was still working. You quickly grabbed a bagel out of the pantry and eyed the toaster. He wasn’t here to watch you, you realized, and quickly put the bagel in the toaster, pushing down the lever. You were determined to watch it carefully, just incase he was right when he said that it could be possible for it to catch on fire. Hearing footsteps behind you, you quickly spin around, expecting to see an annoyed Seto. You don’t. You don’t see any kind of Seto. Staring face to face with the kid from English class, you look at him, probably several levels too far from frightened. He was holding the knife again, you noticed, and quickly step back against the counter. “Don’t you dare yell, or I’ll kill whoever comes to rescue you,” you narrow your eyes, and realize that he must be one hell of a stalker if he knew that he would have to threaten Seto to get you to actually listen. “Can I ask you a question?” you whisper, you voice still amazingly calm as you thought of the question burning in your mind. He seemed taken aback by that, but nodded anyway, figuring that no one could hear you whisper. “HOW DID YOU GET IN THE MANSION WHEN I COULDN’T?!” you yell at the top of your lungs, and instantly hear heavy footsteps from above you. Quickly slipping to your side, you try to escape from the guy, who seemed to still be in shock by your sudden screaming. As you move, you feel a searing pain in your leg before you fall to the ground, passing out from the pain.
You awoke in a room that you didn’t recognize, with off white walls and only one door. You quickly sit up, and instantly regret it as your hands fly up to hold your head. Opening your eyes, you notice that the only thing in the room besides the bed that you were lying on was a chair across the room. Your eyes widen as you look around the room, seeing no sign of anything that you remember. Looking down at your leg, you notice that it was wrapped in bandages. “Shit,” you say, looking around the room again and still seeing no sign of any medical equipment that would suggest you were in a hospital. You slowly decide that you had to get out of the room, and ever so carefully, you got to your feet and limped towards the door, wincing with each step. You reach out, get a hold of the handle, and cross your fingers as you pull down. It opened, and you let out a sigh of relief. Peering out into the hallway, you notice no sign of anyone, and quickly continue to limp towards the other end. You hear your name called out, and instantly recognize the voice. Limping faster, you try to get away, only to feel another pain in your bandaged leg. You scream in pain, but instead of falling down, you find yourself jumping up. “You’re hurting her, damnit!” you hear a familiar voice call out. Blinking open your eyes, you see someone looking down at you, and realize that it’s Seto. He has your head supported by his arm, and he’s holding you in the air. Your left leg is hanging down, and you feel the silky sheets against your foot. Your right leg is being held up, however, and you can feel it burning. “Seto?” you ask, not taking your eyes off of him. He leans down to kiss you softly on your forehead, and you quickly wrap your arms around him, ignoring the pain in your leg. A few seconds later, you were gently put down onto the bed, though you didn’t let go of Seto. “________,” he says, and you reluctantly let go of him so that he could tell something to the other man in the room, who you recognized from earlier that night. “She’ll be fine, just give her some painkillers every six hours, and don’t let her get the bandage wet. Keep her in bed, and don’t let her try to stand. I’ll be back in the morning,” He said, closing his bag and walking out of the room. As you look around the room, you realize that you must have been dreaming, and that you were indeed in your bedroom. “You’re okay,” you mutter, your hand brushing Seto’s face as a relieved smile plays on your lips. “And so are you,” he said, once again bringing you closer to him so that he could kiss you gently on the forehead. When you looked up at him, you could tell by the look in his eyes that he had taken care of the guy who had stabbed you in the leg. “What happened?” He smirked, knowing what you were referring to.
A week of lying in the bed was really starting to annoy you. Seto refused to let you so much as hop to the bathroom, and insisted on carrying you. You had finally been told that you could now move around, but you still were carried half of the time. “I learned how to walk yesterday, mommy,” you say, looking up at Seto as he carried you into the living room. He glared lightly at you, but it wasn’t anything like the glares that he gives other people. When he put you down on the couch, you got up to get to your feet. “Where are you going,” he asked, blocking your pathway. “I want a bagel,” you said, looking up at him to tell him that he needed to move aside, or you were going to do something drastic. “You’re not allowed to make a bagel,” he said, and tried to shove him out of your way, but he caught your arms. “It’s only like ten steps away,” you complain as he forces you to sit back onto the couch. “That’s not why you can’t.” You looked up at him, confused, and noticed he was smirking. “You forgot to turn off the Toaster last time,” you narrowed your eyes, trying to think of the last time you used the toaster. “Oh I got fuckin’ stabbed! That doesn’t count!” you yelled at him, throwing a well-aimed pillow at his head. There was laughter in his eyes, though, and you decided that it was worth it to you to let him get you the bagel, as long as that look remained in his eyes. “Fine, go get me a bagel. Cream Cheese. And it better be toasted to a perfect golden brown.” You tell him, a smirk on your face as he actually goes to get it. Just then, the doorbell rang, and you hopped up to get it. “I’ve got it!” you cried happily, hopping over towards the door before Seto had a chance to protest. When you opened the door, you saw the gang standing there, and each of them had something in their hands. Seto appeared behind you, and you instantly saw the ice in his eyes. “Stop complaining, they brought presents!” you say cheerily, snatching the nearest box that you could find and hopping off towards the main living room. You sat back down in your seat, and was quickly joined by everyone else. “I think somebody left the Toaster on,” you declare proudly, looking up at Seto as he sat down next to you. You poke him in the chest, accusingly, just to annoy him. Okay, partially to annoy him, and partially because the painkiller you were on made you act a little too childish. Mainly the first, though. “Nope,” he motioned towards the side table, where you saw a plate and a bagel. You turned to look at him, amazed, and saw him smirking at you. You quickly changed the subject, embarrassed, and looked down at the box. Opening it, you saw a card, which you quickly tossed at Seto, and a smaller box. You look up, confused, “This isn’t one of those things that are just box after box of smaller boxes, right?” you ask, and surprisingly they seem to understand what you were talking about. “No, ______, just open it,” Yugi said, smiling. You do, and it revealed two Duel Monsters cards, ‘Light and Darkness Dragon’ and ‘Book of Moon’. You looked up at Yugi, and quickly jumped to your feet, much to the dismay of Seto. “Thank you,” you say, giving him a hug before returning to your seat. Seto had a questioning look on his face when you turned to face him. “I’ve been starting a deck, and Yugi knew I wanted these cards,” you explain, though he seems even a little angry by this. “You didn’t tell me,” he stated, and you instantly realized that you should have told him earlier. “Oh, but I wanted to surprise you and beat you,” you said, hoping that that would do the trick. He smirked at you, and you continued to open the presents that you were given. Tristain and Joey had each given you chocolates, and Tea and Mai had shared a gift card to the spa.
“Right hand Red,” Tea said as the dart spun to a stop. You looked over your shoulder, and groaned when you say where you would have to move your hand. You found a way, though, and got your hand to the red circle, then looked up. Seto’s face was right above yours, and he quickly bend down to kiss you. It took a call to the doctor just so you could play Twister, and then more to get Seto to play. The only way you had gotten him to play was that no one but you and he would be on the mat, and everyone had to swear not to laugh, or say a thing to anyone else. It was actually rather funny how self-conscious he was about it. Due to a twisted lack of luck, Seto had ended up with the easiest position possible, face down. You, on the other hand, were forced to weave around him, and to top it off, you were face up. “Kaiba… Left hand Red,” Joey called out, looking at the spin board. “Oh, wait, you’re already there. ______’s turn now.” he said, spinning the dart again. “Right leg Yellow,” you looked down at where your leg was, and glared. Cursing, you shifted your weight, and lifted your right leg, trying to find a way to get to the yellow. You lifted your leg high, going over Seto’s so that your leg was wrapped around his, and finally getting it onto the yellow. Then, looking up, you noticed Seto smirking. “Shut up,” you said, and waited for Tea to call your next move. “Wait a minute…” you said, looking at the group, who were all trying to hold back their laughter. You quickly un-weaved yourself from the mess, and snatched the board from Tea. “You disrespect the true power Twister,” you said, glaring at her. They were all laughing pretty hard by now, and you couldn’t really blame them, because you would have done the same thing to any of them. “How about Truth or Dare again?” Tristain asked, changing the topic. You looked around the room, and shook your head. “Serenity isn’t here, so I can’t,” you say, apologetically, and everyone but Tristain laughed. Even when you turned to Seto, you could see a bit of laughter hidden in his eyes. “Fine, no dares that would break up relationships,” Tea offered, and everyone agreed. You spun first, and amazingly, it landed on Seto. “Truth or Dare?” you asked, and knew that he was regretting not sitting behind you, like last time. “Truth,” he said, choosing the option that would likely not embarrass him the most. You didn’t even hesitate a second. “Why didn’t you tell me who you were when we first met?”
