Chapter 6 : Time Will Tell > A Seto Kaiba Love Story > pt. 5
Okay, here's part 5, up and ready.
“Wait we can go?” Tristain asked, and you turned to face Kaiba, after giving a very heated look to Joey. He seemed to have calmed down a bit when told he was free, so you assumed everything would be fine. You looked at Kaiba, head tilted slightly, as you waited for Tristain’s answer. “I’m sick of having you around,” came the cold response, “Just get your stuff and get out now,” You noticed he looked at everyone except you, so you decided that the only part aimed at you was the fact that everyone was free to leave. The gang quickly got up and ran to their rooms, clearly realizing that they should take advantage of it before he had the chance to change his mind. You were the only one who didn’t bolt off, and instead looked at him with a smile. “I’ll go get my stuff now,” you said, your tone making it obvious that you understood the yelling wasn’t aimed at you. As you started to walk away, he reached for your arm, but you danced out of his reach, still smiling. It took a few hours, but everything of yours was once again in your apartment, which you realized you had spent all of one night at. Looking around with your hands on your hips, you nodded proudly at your little home. Your eyes fell on your backpack, and you frowned. Cursing slightly, you quickly grabbed the bag and your laptop, and started working on your paper that was due tomorrow. The one that you had been given almost a week to finish, and the one that you hadn’t even started. You typed as fast as you could, but the time still flied. When you finally finished, it was already time for you to go to bed. The next morning, when your alarm clock once again didn’t go off, as it still was broken, you woke up to the ringing of your phone. You looked at the phone, and almost decided to throw it across the room, before you realized that it was a call, not the cell alarm. “I hate you,” you said in a very tired voice, before you even knew who was calling you. “I thought you were going to meet us before school?” Tea’s voice said, obviously ignoring your friendly greeting. You cursed, apologized, and then quickly got ready. You tossed on the uniform, reluctantly, and quickly straightened your dark brown hair. Thank god for Chi, which only took five minutes to straighten the curliest hair. By the time you reached the school, the bell was about thirty seconds away from ringing. Somehow, you managed to slide into the classroom and take your seat the second the bell rang. “Glad you could join us, Miss. _______” your math teacher said, and you gave a weak smile. Taking out your work, you noticed that the seat to your right was empty, and you couldn’t help but feel a little down. At least you didn’t have to worry about Hannah flirting with him again, like every other day at school. Each of your classes flew by rather quickly, and amazingly, you were able to finish all of your homework during each class and study hall.
On your walk back to your house, a fire engine passed you, and you almost dropped your books when the siren suddenly started out of nowhere. You watched it, and then did drop your stuff. It had turned down your road, you noticed, and sprinted after the truck. By the time you got there, you saw that your apartment building was indeed decorated with water and pretty red trucks. When you walked up to a fireman, he explained the situation to you. “Only one room was on fire, and the rest of the building is fine,” he said, and you reluctantly asked which room. “109.” He said simply, and you cursed. “Is it safe to go in yet?” you asked, but he shook his head no. “Ma’am, we’ve got the fire out, but we can’t let anyone in that room, the rest of the building is fine, however. Plus, there wasn’t anything in the room that wasn’t completely destroyed. We’re sorry,” he said, and you thanked him sadly. Realizing you had done your laundry the other night, you quickly made your way to the laundry room on the other side of the building. Packing your clothes into the duffel bag that you had left in the room, you leaned against the wall. You toyed with your phone, rotating it over and over in your hand as you tried to decide who to call. Yugi had the smallest house out of the group, and he lived with his grandfather. Joey had his sister, and they lived in a pretty small place as well. Tristain was just out of the question. Tea lived with her whole family, so there really wasn’t any room left. And Mai was in the same situation as Tea. Within a few minutes of standing there, you began to walk off, your bag in your hand. When you finally reached your destination, you rang the doorbell, and waited a moment. “______, hi!” you were greeted by a friendly face. “Are you sleeping over?” Mokuba asked, looking at the duffel bag in your hand. Before you had a chance to answer, Kaiba appeared behind his brother, looking at you curiously. “Uh…” you said, trying to think of a way to explain, “My apartment kind-of had a fire…” you said, and were quickly ushered into the house. “How did the fire start?” Mokuba asked, when you were settled into the living room. Or, one of the many living rooms in the house. You rubbed the back of your neck with your hand, and looked to the floor, avoiding the question. “I… sort-of left the stove on…” you said, and looked up to see Mokuba laughing hysterically, and Kaiba just barely containing his laughter. “You can stay on one condition,” He started, though you could tell that he was still struggling not to laugh. “You don’t cook,” This sent Mokuba into a fit of laughter once again, and you quickly threw a pillow at him. “You make a hard deal, Mr. Kaiba,” you said playfully, “But I’ve got no other choice,” And that was that. Mokuba went off to finish his homework, and you were carrying your bag up to the room where you had stayed before. You put it down, opened the door, and reached down to pick up the bag again, only to find that it wasn’t there. [What the…?] you thought, turning to look around. You saw that Kaiba had picked up the bag, and was carrying into his room. “Uh, no,” you said, following him and trying to snatch the bag from him. “I didn’t say that I would stay in here,” you said, still attempting to grab the bag. “My house, my rules,” he said with a smirk on his face that told you he wasn’t going to back down. You narrow your eyes, “Then let’s make a deal,” you said, obviously catching his attention. “I’ll stay here, if you come with me tonight to hang out with the gang,” He raised his eyebrows at you, as if to tell you that was the stupidest thing he had ever heard. “Let me think about that, no. Why would I take that deal when I can make you stay in this room anyways and still not have to go?” he asked, and you nodded, agreeing with the point. “But, rich boy, If you don’t want me sleeping on the couch, then you’ll come,” you say in the sweetest voice you could come up with. Smiling, you realized how easy it had been for you to fall back in step with him, despite the three years that had kept you apart.
“Yes, you have to. Now shut up,” you said turning from Kaiba to the door. It opened, revealing a surprised Tea. “I’m glad you could make it!” she said happily, and you followed her in. Then, you turned around, and had to pull Kaiba into the room, as he obviously wasn’t happy. He took a seat on a chair that was furthest away from Yugi, who was sitting on one of the couches next to an open seat. Joey and Mai were on the second couch, and Tristain was sitting next to Serenity on the final couch. Tea looked at you with a confused look while you were still standing in the hallway. “How’d you get him to come?” she asked as she put away one of the jackets. You smiled, “I had to bribe him.” Tea took the seat next to Yugi, and you looked around. Every seat was taken. Shrugging, you walked over to where Kaiba was sitting and sat on floor, your back against the chair. Joey handed twenty bucks to Tristain, and you looked at him confused. “Bet,” he said, and you lifted your eyebrows. “What kind of bet?” you asked, very interested. “I bet Tristain that Kaiba wouldn’t come,” Joey said, obviously a little annoyed. “Why so interested?” Joey asked you, noticing that you had perked up at the mention of the bet. “Oh,” you smiled, “I love bets; you say the word ‘bet’ and I’ll do it,” Now it was Joey’s turn to lift his eyebrows. “Really, is that so?” he said, and you narrowed your eyes suspiciously. But he didn’t say anything more, and eventually everyone decided to play truth or dare. Joey spun the bottle first, and it landed on Tristain, who said dare. “I dare you to not touch my sister all night!” he said happily, and Tristain glared at him, but had to accept. It made you laugh slightly, as you watched the scene. Tristain’s spin landed on Tea, who had to tell everyone a secret. As Tea spun, you noticed that it was going to land on you, and you tried to scoot out of the way. Two strong legs pinned you still, though, and you looked over your shoulder to see Kaiba smirking at you. “Truth or Dare, _______?” Tea asked, and you thought for a moment. “Dare,” you said confidently, but regretted it when you saw Joey whisper something into Tea’s ear. “I dare you to kiss Tristain,” she said, obviously slightly changing what Joey had told her to say. Kaiba’s legs were still holding you down, and his grip seemed to have gotten tighter, so you shrugged, glad you couldn’t do it. When Tristain got up and started to move closer to you, you could fell the legs holding you down stiffen even more. “Serenity, will you marry me?” you ask quickly, making everyone freeze, confused. “That way Tristain can’t touch her,” Mai explained to the others, figuring out what you were thinking rather quickly. Everyone laughed once they understood, and seemed to forget about your turn.
The weekend passed rather quickly, and you spent the majority of your time playing video games with Mokuba, seeing as Kaiba was at work most of the time. But Monday came, and you had to get up for school. An alarm rang, and you instinctively reached for the source of the sound, tugged on it, and tossed it across the room. Or, you thought you did, because the sound stopped at about the same time that you had tugged. Hearing a crash, you quickly jumped up, and looked around the room. A light flicked on, and you saw that it definitely wasn’t the alarm that you had thrown. “Shit,” you said, seeing the pieces of broken vase scattered across the room. “Sorry, Seto, I thought it was the alarm,” you said, turning to see him staring across the room in mild shock. He looked at you, and quickly had you pinned down to the bed. “You’re going to have to be punished for that,” he said in a seductive voice, as he traced his lips down your jaw line. “As appealing as that sounds,” you said as you looked at the alarm clock that was on his side of the bed, “We’ve got to go to school,” He looked annoyed by your statement, but got up and took a shower. Grabbing your stuff, you slipped into your old room and got ready. Today your first class was a class that the whole school was forced to take once; Home Economics. You took your usual seat next to Kaiba, and looked around the room happily. The teacher opened the lesson by giving a short lecture on waiting to have sex. You decided it had to be one of the most pointless lessons you had ever heard, as you looked around the room to see that the majority of the class wasn’t paying attention to the speech, because it didn’t affect them. You had to stifle a laugh, yourself, when one of the students called out about how the speech was much too late. Finally, she finished the speech and explained the project that was going to take place. The second that she held up one of the electronic babies, you perked up, having always loved those things. There were four reasons that the baby cried. It was either needed to be bottle fed, rocked, have its diaper changed (you were given two diapers, each with a different magnet so that the computer knew whether or not you had actually changed it) or the baby was just fussy and needed to cry. Each need had a different cry.
“I will allow you to pick your partners for this project, and you will have to make this be like a real family, so you will have to stay in the same house for tonight, the only day of the project, so that both of you will fully under—” she said, but before she got to finish, Hannah had raised her hand. “Can I go first?” she asked, and instantly your face darkened. “Go ahead, Miss. Summers,” she said, and you felt your stomach tighten. “I choose Kaiba,” she said, sending a smile back at him. You gave her the coldest death glare you could create, but it didn’t seem to affect her. You didn’t pay attention to the others who called out to pick their partners, because you were still glaring at her intensely, until you noticed someone’s shadow falling over you. Your glare faltered when you looked up, seeing Tristain standing in front of you. “Ready?” he asked, and you realized that he must have been made your partner. You nodded, and went up to receive the electronic doll that you were given.
Later that evening, your eyes somewhat sore from all the glaring you had done throughout the day, you leaned against the chair. Tristain was in the same room that he had stayed in before, because you were desperate to keep an eye on Hannah. After the doll had finished crying, and seemed to have fallen asleep, you got up, and told Tristain that you needed a drink. Walking down the hallway, you saw Diane standing in the hallway with Kaiba. He was leaning in the doorway to his bedroom, you noticed, and she was standing in the hallway. “Well, this would make it more of a real family experience,” you heard her say, as she was walking closer to him. Quickly, you brushed past her, and stood next to him. “Sorry Hannah, there’s no more room in here,” you say, ducking into the bedroom with Kaiba right behind you. While he was closing the door, the expression on Hannah’s face was priceless. He smirked at you, and locked the door. He held you by the shoulders as he walked you backwards until you were pressed onto the bed. “If I remember correctly, I still haven’t punished you,” he said, his breath hot in your ear. You smiled, but heard a knock on the door. You rolled your eyes, and looked up at Kaiba as he, too, ignored the knock, and leaned down to kiss you. The knocking came again, but you continued to ignore it, until the voice called out. “Big Brother!” He looked at the door, as if debating. “Not now, Mokuba,” he called, but didn’t turn back to you just yet. “There’s an emergency at Kaiba Corp!” That had him pull away from you in a jolt, and he quickly got up and answered the door. After a minute of explaining, he took off down the hallway, sending a sorry look your way before he left. Mokuba turned to you after his brother had gone. “Sorry, ______, but it was an emergency,” he said, sounding slightly embarrassed. “It’s fine,” you said as he closed the door behind him. Looking around the room, you slowly fell asleep.
The alarm woke you up, as it did every morning, and as you stuffed your head under the pillow, the ringing continued. You found that odd, and eventually pulled out your head, scanning the room. You hit the off button, in confusion, and realized that you were still lying above the comforter and sheets. [Seto didn’t come home at all] you thought, but got ready and went to school. He wasn’t there, that was your top concern. Your second one was that Tristain was pretty annoyed with you for not helping with the doll. Luckily, that project was only one day long, and you didn’t have to deal with Hannah. Your last class of the day came rather slowly, but it came nonetheless. A new student was in this class, you noticed, and was introduced by the teacher as ‘Mr. Adams’. You looked up from the homework you were doing, and saw that it was who you were thinking it was. “Tyler!” you shouted, drawing everyone’s eyes to you as you ran up and hugged the guy. “_____!” he said, with the volume much lower. “Please take your seats,” the teacher said in a frustrated tone, which you did. The whole class, you spent your time passing notes to your friend from before you moved to Domino, and surprisingly you weren’t caught until the end of the class, when you had to shove the paper into your pocket to hide it. After the class ended, you went back to the mansion and got changed, then met up with Tyler. You went to one of your favorite restaurants in Domino, compliments of your friend, and ordered the most expensive items on the menu just to annoy him, but it didn’t work. Then, you decided to show him some of the city, and had to practically drag him to get him to keep up with your pace. By eleven o’ clock, you were about a half hour away from the Mansion, and you were at a club with Tyler, who was drunk. Grabbing your cell, you called Kaiba. “Hello?” he said into the phone, sounding tired. “Hey, Seto, it’s me.” you said, plugging your free ear so that you could hear him better. “I’m at the club with Tyler, and he’s drunk, so I’ve got to drive him back to his place. Since it’s so late I’m probably just going to crash there,” you said, and waited for his answer. Tyler grabbed your phone from you, and when you tried to get it back, it slipped from your hand, and landed in Tyler’s cup of beer. “Shit!” you yelled, and fished it out, only to see that it had completely shut off. “Give me your phone, Moron, so I can call Seto back,” you said, your hand open waiting. “Hmmm? My phone… that sat myap art ment,” he said, slurring his words so you could barely understand him. You sighed, and decided that you’d just deal with it tomorrow.
[[To Seto, Next Morning (third person]] He had barely gotten three hours of sleep before his alarm went off. Forcing his eyes to open, he shut it off, and got up to get ready. After taking a shower and getting dressed, he looked around his room for his briefcase. Still rather pissed at being hung up on the other night, he cursed when he saw that the maids hadn’t picked up _____’s clothes on the ground. He picked them up himself, and noticed a piece of paper that was in the pocket of the jeans. He was about to read it when his phone rang, and he subconsciously put the note in his pocket as he answered the phone. “I’ll be over there right away,” he said, voice cold as he shut the phone and grabbed his briefcase. At the office, he got right to work typing on his laptop. His secretary walked in and handed him the paper, but he just tossed it to the side of the desk without caring. She slipped away silently, sensing his mood was worse that it normally was, and allowed him to continue working endlessly. Several hours later, when he had fixed the emergency, he picked up the paper to check the stocks. The front page caught his attention, however. The headline said ‘Kaiba’s new girl caught cheating!’ and below it there were several pictures of you from the night before. He quickly read the article. ‘______ _______, Seto Kaiba’s girlfriend, was caught last night having a romantic dinner with another man, both dressed up. They even kissed before leaving in a hurry, _______ pulling her special friend into their car with a smile on her face.’ He didn’t read any further, suddenly remembering the note he had stuffed in his pocket. Opening it, he noticed that each line was alternating between two different handwriting styles. As he read, the ice in his eyes grew colder and more noticeable.
Tyler, I've missed you so much!
I know, ______, I couldn’t stand to be away from you!
Why’d you move here, though?
You were here, and there was no where better for me to go.
You always were a sweat talker.
Still am, and you always liked that about me, right?
Definitely, you could always make me smile.
Bet you I still can.
That’s the one bet I won’t take, Ty.
The end of the world is near.
Ha. Hey, remember last year?
Oh, we had so much fun.
I know, especially when we went on that private yacht.
Ha. You knew how to wear a bikini. Bet you still do.
Damn Straight.
So, do you have someone I should know about in your life?
Yeah, as a matter of fact I do.
He’d better watch out, then.
Ha, yeah, he’d better.
