Tuesday July 1st
6:00 AM
My alarm beeped loudly next to my head. I groaned and turned off the alarm. Stumbling, I walked over to my dresser and grabbed the things I would need to take a shower.
Then I walked into the bathroom, started the shower, stripped quickly, and got under the warm water.
After my shower I blow-dried my hair, did my make up-some bright blue eyes shadow and black eyeliner- and got dressed. I chose my yellow skinny jeans and my white, blue, and yellow All Time Low shirt. I laughed lightly when All Time Low’s song ‘Holly Would You Turn Me On?’ ran through my mind.
I sighed and grabbed my backpack that had band names all over it before running down stairs.
“Mom are you going to give me a ride?”
“No. Brian offered.”
I groaned. She just didn’t get that I really don’t like him. My hatred towards him had evaporated into just dislike since two days ago. But that didn’t mean I would gladly accept a ride from him.
I made myself a bowl of cereal and ran back upstairs to brush me teeth. By the time I got downstairs
Brian was there.
I sighed and said goodbye to my mom.
”Have a good day.”
I scoffed. That wasn’t possible. I was going to a school where the only people I knew were my asshole cousin and his friend.
She just smiled at me. “Or at least try.”
I scowled and she laughed.
“Ready?” Brian asked.
I shrugged and climbed into the backseat of his Ford Mustang. It reminded me of Bumblebee off of
Transformers the Movie after he got his make over.
“So are you excited?” Brian asked.
I glared at him.
“I think that’s a no,” Alex said. I glared at him. They both laughed.
When we got to the school Brian showed me where the office was.
“I’m here to pick up my schedule,” I told the secretary.
“You must be Holly,” she stated rather than asked.
“Yeah.”
She handed me a piece of paper.
“Thanks,” I muttered before walking out the door.
“Brian could you show her around?” I heard the lady ask him.
“Yeah,” he said and walked out the door and up to me.
“Let me see your schedule.”
I handed it to him.
“Ha! You have Math first.”
I sighed. “It’s better than P.E”
“You have P.E second.”
“Damn it!”
“But you have it with me.”
“That just makes it worse.”
“Oh no. My wittle heart is bwoken.”
I didn’t say anything.
“Then you have science.”
“Fantastic.”
“With Alex.”
“Great.” Actually it wasn’t that bad. Alex was really really hot.
“You’re glad he’s in your class, aren’t you?” Brian accused.
My face turned pink. “No.”
“Liar! I’m gonna tell him.”
“Don’t!”
“You are! I’m so going to tell him.”
“Brian, don’t!”
He started to laugh. “And I have first period with him.”
“Brian! I hate you!”
“The feeling is mutual.”
I groaned.
“I’ll show you where the math room is then I’ll see you in second period.”
I nodded.
When I entered the math room they were in the middle of taking a test and all eyes turned to me. My
cheeks turned red.
“Excuse me, but we’re in the middle of a test. What do you need?”
“Oh…um. I’m new and this is my first period class.”
“Okay. Sit behind Allie.”
“Who?”
“Allie raise your hand.”
A blonde girl raised her hand and sat behind her.
Since I didn’t have anything to do I took out my schedule and studied it. First period math, second
period P.E, third period science.
With Alex, I added to myself.
Fourth period I had History, fifth period I had art, then sixth and seventh I had core.
When I found no interest in the writing on the paper I flipped it over and began doodling.
Finally the bell rang and I made my way to the gym, it wasn’t hard to find seeing as how it was the
biggest building and it was in the middle of the school grounds.
I walked in and found the teacher.
“You’re the new kid?” he asked.
Wow I don’t even I know how to respond to that.
“Yeah. I’m Holly.”
“Okay just sit in the bleachers.”
I did as she said and walked over to the bleachers. I pulled out my iPod and put the ear buds in my
ears.
Here's a letter I'm writing to you.
Of all the things I never could have said (And it's the truth).
It's the letter you're burning from me.
Of all the things YOU NEVER WANTED TO HEAR!
I don't know what I'm trying to say.
STENCIL IN YOUR HEART INTO ANOTHER'S HANDS!
And you're saying… NOTHING AT ALL!
NOTHING! AT ALL!
I don't know what I'm trying to say.
STENCIL IN YOUR HEART INTO ANOTHER'S HANDS!
And you say it best... MY HEART YOUR HANDS!
MY HEART! YOUR HANDS![/I]
“Holly!”
I looked at Brian. “What?”
“I told him.”
My cheeks burned and he laughed.
“So are you really glad he’s in your class?”
I sighed. What’s the point in lying? I nodded slowly.
He laughed even harder. “Do you think he’s cute?”
This was getting awkward. “Are you gay?”
He stopped laughing. “No. I just want to know if you think he’s cute.”
I sighed. “Yes, I do. I think he’s hot.”
He started laughing even harder than before.
“Dawson! Start running!”
“Hold on! I’m talking to my cousin.” When he said that he was talking to his cousin everybody’s head snapped in our direction. Then they started whispering to the person they were running with.
“So you think he’s hot?”
“Yeah.”
“I was only asking if you thought he was cute, but hey. That works for me.”
I blushed. “Asshole.”
“Dawson! Now!”
“Fine!” he yelled back at the P.E teacher and started running.
When the teacher blew his whistle everybody stopped what they were doing and walked into the locker
rooms.
“You’re related to Brian?” asked a girl who had walked up to me after getting dressed.
“Yeah.”
”Lucky.”
I gave her a questioning look. “If by ‘Lucky’ you mean incredibly unlucky then yes, I am the luckiest
person in the world.”
“You don’t like him?”
“Not at all.”
“Why?”
“He’s an asshole.”
She didn’t say anything. Instead she walked away.
“What are you telling them?” Brian asked me.
“Just that you’re an asshole.”
“I am not.”
”Yes, Brian, you are.”
“I’ve been working on getting with Ashley for a long time. You may have just ruined that.”
“I hope I did,” I said as the bell rang. I walked out of the gym.
"Alex!” Brian yelled from next to me.
I sighed as Alex walked up to us.
“Yeah?”
“Will you show her where her next class is? I have to go talk to Ashley.”
“Yeah,” Alex said and Brain left to find Ashley.
I followed Alex to my next class.
“Are you seriously Brian’s cousin?” a girl asked.
“Unfortunately.”
“What’s your name?” one of her friends asked.
My cheeks reddened a bit. “Holly,” I whispered.
She laughed. “It’s funny that your name is Holly and you’re wearing an All Time Low shirt. You know
they have a song called ‘Holly Would You Turn Me On?”
“Yes, I am perfectly aware of that.”
“Oh… Is that why you wore that shirt?”
“No, I just like the band.”
“Oh…”
I felt someone’s eyes on me and when I looked around I noticed Alex was looking at me. I put my
head down so my pink cheeks weren’t visible.
“Brian said you were glad that I’m in your class.” Alex’s lips brushed my ear as he whispered.
I didn’t dare lift my head because I knew my face was as red as the sweatshirt Brian always wore.
“Let me see your schedule.”
I handed the doodled on piece of paper to Alex without lifting my head.
“You like Avenged Sevenfold?” he asked referring to the death bat I had drawn.
“Yeah,” I whispered.
“Okay, you have art with both Brian and me.”
I cursed in my head.
“And you have core with me and history with Brian. Damn. They weren’t nice.”
I laughed lightly.
“Come in you guys,” the teacher said when she opened the door.
The first thing I noticed about her was the scar that went from the corned of her eye to the tip of her mouth. Her strait reddish brown hair was pulled into a messy bun and her big green eyes were searching the small crowd of students. She was beautiful. The only thing that threw off her beauty was the scar.
“Ah, you must be Holly.”
Again all eyes were on me.
My cheeks reddened and I said, “Yeah.”
Everyone walked into the room after hearing me confirm my name.
One of the things that drove me insane when I was the new kid was everyone new my name but I
didn’t know any of theirs. So when someone said “Hey Holly,” I had to be the lame one and say “Hey,” and after at least ten seconds of searching for the persons name the only word I came up with was “you.”
That’s kind of what happened now.
“Hey Holly you should sit by me,” the girl from out side asked.
Had she even given me her name? I thought.
“She already said she would sit by me,” Alex said after I hadn’t answered.
The girl didn’t say anything.
I took my seat next to Alex and started listening to the teacher like the good little girl I am.
“But Mrs. Personini, if that…” That’s all I heard before I started tuning out.
“The only reason Cara wanted you to sit by her is because you know Brian,” I heard Alex say.
It took me a second before I noticed he was talking to me. “So every girl wants to date Brian?”
“Yeah.”
I shuddered. “Ew.”
Alex laughed quietly.
”Mr. Moore and Miss Peterson please tell me what’s so funny,” Mrs. Personini asked.
“Nothing,’ Alex said with a grin on his face.
“Well it must be quite funny seeing as how you interrupted my lesson.”
“No, really, it wasn’t.”
“Please tell us,” she said. By now everyone was looking over at us.
My face felt like it was on fire, and that didn’t get any better when Mrs. Personini said, “Miss Peterson
please tell us.”
I looked down at my hands, witch by the way had become incredibly interesting, before muttering “
Nothing.”
“Then please be quiet.” I nodded.
After science I found Brian and we walked to history.
That class was boring and soon I fell asleep.
The bell rang, signaling the beginning of lunch.
“Brian, I’m hungry! Can I have some money?” I whined and put on my best puppy pout.
“Sure, I’ll just run over to the money tree behind the gym and pull of five bucks.”
“Brian! Please, I’m starving.”
