Once upon a time there was girl.
When she was in middle school she took interest in a boy in only one of her classes.
She eyed him every once in a while, but never thought of anything serious to do with him.
She couldn't see his face at all under his shaggy, curly, brown hair, as if he hid it from the world.
She seemed to notice him staring at her quite often, but still didn't think anything of it.
Finally, the end of the eighth grade came, and it was time for her to go onto high school.
But she never got to graduate because of her grades, so she thought she would never see him again... but still thought nothing of it.
ninth grade came along and she was starting a brand new year.
She decided it was time for a change, and to pay attention to her grades from now on.
Then one day during lunch one of her friends pointed out that same boy.
She looked to where she was pointing and saw that he had cut his hair.
There were girls swarming around him and he seemed to have been having a great time.
She smiled to herself. And told her friend that she had no interest in him.
As a couple of months passed, she was walking down the hall one day.
She happened to look up expectingto find her friend waiting for her, but instead, found something amazing.
She widened her eyes in surprise as her eyes were fixed upon crystal blue eyes.
She then realized it was that same boy from before, blushed, and looked away.
Her heart was pounding in her chest as she tried to catch her breath.
Had i been so blind? She thought to herself.
The next day she told her friend that she was starting to take interest in this boy.
Her friend squealed with excitement and for the next few weeks they both watched out for him at lunch.
Ever since that moment in the hallway, she had come to realize that every day she saw him, she grew feelings for him, but kept them all to herself.
She would stare at him until he turned her way.
He was like a haunting memory that wouldn't go away.
One day, though, she saw him during each passing period.
Every morning she would wake up, he was the first thing on her mind. She had never been excited about school.
Then one Thursday, she looked around for him but saw he wasn't there.
Every day that he didn't come to school, she felt a part of her being torn.
She would always look forward to the next day though.
As time passed, he seemed to have been drifting away from her.
She gained a new friend, and she was a trouble causer.
Now, the girl thought that the boy she had liked was a trouble causer too, so she figured that maybe if she was bad, he would take interest in her.
She started to become, what you would call, a total bitch.
She ditched school almost every day, and caused trouble during lunch, just to get the boy's attention.
For once she felt cool, like all of the other girls in the school.
Until one day, she sat and realized that all of this ditching from school, was making her more distant to him.
Now, the girl never actually knew if the boy even knew her, but every day she would tell herself that he liked her.
After christmas break had passed, she came back and saw the boy.
But one thing she didn't know, was that it would be the last time.
During christmas break, she had decided to write this boy a letter, a letter revealing her true feelings.
Once she was done she took the paper and folded it, thinking maybe she could stick it in his locker, but never did.
The night before school was back she was going to bed and heard something fall to the ground as she jumped on her bed.
She looked down to the ground and saw the note she had stuck under her mattress.
She picked it up and read it one more time.
Was this a sign? Could this be telling me to give this to him?
She folded it back up and slid it back under the matress, thinking that maybe one day she would gain the courage to say it herself, rather than on a piece of paper.
As the day passed, she was happy she got to see him again, but the next day, he wasn't there.
Then the next day.
And the next day,
and... a day after that...
She started to wonder where he had gone to.
Then one day she heard her cell phone ring and she answered.
It was her best friend calling from another school.
"Guess what?!" Her friend said.
"The boy you like is now going to my school!"
The girl immedately froze in shock, and hung up the phone.
The boy she had felt so much for had moved away...
Her friends asked her what was the matter, and she just shook her head.
As months passed, she felt that she could still feel his presence there, even though he wasn't.
She cried at night, thinking that she would never see him again.
She had done so much for him, changing her style, her attitude, and her attendance at school.
She was so confused and upset.
The next day she went to a fast food restraunt with her brother and gasped in surprise through the drive way window.
He was there, standing in line.
She couldn't make up her mind whether or not this was exciting for her or sad.
Was she happy because she got to see him again? Or was she sad because she feared it would be the last time she saw him?
A few more months passed, and she began to get into a lot more trouble.
She figured since he wasn't at school anymore, she didn't want to be either.
Her grades were slipping, her good friends becoming distant.
She had started to wonder what she had become, what these other firneds were turning her into.
One day she decided to leave the bad friends, and regretted it.
They ganged up on her after school while she was walking home and they beat her until she fell to the ground crying.
Had all of this happen... because of just one boy?
A boy she hardly even knew anything about?
Today, she sits at home, wondering to herself what it was that drew her so close to the boy, even though he had no idea.
I know this because, I am that girl.
I've learned throughout this that one boy isn't worth risking everything you have, and I just want every girl out there that has even thought about changing herself for a boy to know that if you have to change yourself, just to get his attention, he isn't worth it at all, because in time, you'll start to realize that the new you isn't you at all.
So if you're reading this, and have a major crush on a boy, tell him, before it's too late. Or you'll be like me, and regret it every single day.
He made me change everything about myself, don't let this happen to you. (Short Story)
Hi, this is just a message i want to send out to you girls out there. You don't have to like it, because not many experience this, i'm sure.Did you like this story? Make one of your own!
