Far From Perfect [1]
Chapter 7 : Far From Perfect [7]
The alarm clock beeped. Five O'clock. Time to get up and go to school. I sat up and walked to the shower. There were two more cut marks on each wrist. And a few new bruises from last night. I stepped into the shower and started my monday.
Once I lost feeling in my fingures from the icecold water I got out and got dressed in a black mini skirt with purple stars, black leggings, a black tanktop, and black wrist warmers with purple stars. I put on normal black eyeliner on the, and black liquid eyeliner on the top lid. The I put sparkely purple eyeshadow on and Istyled my hair like always. I put my purple lowtops on and ran downstairs.
I didn't see my parents so I quickly ate a poptart. I grabbed my backpack and headed out the door.Just as I walked past Coreys house he stepped out.
"Emily wait up!" He called.
I stopped and watched him run over. He was wearing dark blue skinny jeans, a black and dark blue stripped sweatshirt, and his converes. I smiled as he came to a stop and fixed his hair.
"Your such a girl." I said, refering to him makeing sure his hair was perfect.
"I don't want to be seen with messed up hair like yours, ok?" He said in a fake gay accent.
I laghed. "Thanks. Lets go get Haley."
We started walking. "Uh. I dislike that girl." He said.
"Why? Shes the best." I said.
"She seems alittle to... I dont know. Nice skirt." He said.
"What? Oh. That was random." I said, smiling.
"Not really. Its pretty." he said, looking me in the eye.
"Thanks, I guess." I saw Haley looking at us from the bottem of the hill.
"I heard, uh screaming lastnight." He said. "Are you ok?"
"Yeah Im fine. God your so protective." I said rolling my eyes.
"What? No im not." He said. I looked at him with a rasied eyebrow. "I just care about my friend."
He grabed my arm and lifted the wrist warmer. He touched my two cuts and looked me in the eye.
"I thought you were going to stop." He said.
"No. Yeah. I don't know. I don't think I can." I said in a whisper.
"Emily. I know it's hard to stop." He said.
"What do you mean?" I asked.
He lifted the arm of his sweatshirt. There were a bunch of scars, like the ones I have only they were older.
"I started when my girlfriend died. She killed herself. I stopped because I knew other people loved me, and they didn't want me to get hurt." He said.
He put his arm down.
"Thats the diffrence between us." I said. He gave me a questioning look. "People love you."
He frowned, and grabed my face in his hands. He forced me to look him in the eye.
"You know people love you." He said. "Haley loves you."
"So? That dosent mean shit." I said.
"I love you. And everytime you hurt yourself you hurt me." He said, the look in his eyes were a mixture of hurt, concern, truth and sadness.
He let go of me and walked over to Haley. I stayed where I was for a minute and let his words sink in. Then I ran to catch up with them. Corey turned and smiled at me. Haley turned and looked at my outfit.
“Wow.” She said, in honest surprise. “You look, extremely feminine today.” She commented.
“Gee thanks.” I said sarcastic.
“Theres nothing wrong with it. It’s just that your actually wearing a skirt, and you haven’t done that scince seventh grade.” She said.
By the look she had in her eye I knew what was comeing, so I switched the topic. “What did you do yesterday?” I asked Haley.
“Hmm. I called you but your mom said you were out so I went to Dias house and played guitar hero for three hours.” She said. “What did you guys do?”
“We hung out, nothing of importance.” I said.
She turned to Corey. “We went to the park, and got harrased by some poser bitch.” He said.
“Oh? Which one. Kara, Massie, or Claire?” Haley asked.
“Massie. She thinks we’re dateing. Just goes to show you she’s a triple thret. Stupid, snobby, and ugly. That takes skills.” I said.
Haley burst out laghing. “So true. All three of them are. Then theres Mark and Ryan. Their worse then the girls.”
We got to school, and Haley walked to her locker.
“Can you walk me to the main office?” Corey asked.
“Of course. If we see Massie, what are we going to do?” I asked.
“Pretend to be together again.” He suggested.
“Um, then shits going to start about us.” I said.
“Whatever. Well deal with it when it happenes.” He said, squashing the subject.
We walked to the office in silence. “I’ll wait for you out here.” I said.
“Ok. I’ll be out in, like, two minuets kay?” He said.
I gave him a thumbs up and he walked in. I leaned against the wall and watched as people gave me dirty looks. Then I saw Massie and Clair walking towards me. They were both in skinny jeans that were clearly from abercrombie, and they were wearing shirts of poser emo bands (falloutboy and liken park) that they clearly don’t listen to, and matching ballet flats. Clairs har was in pigtail and her died blond hair with poorly done green ends were in pigtails and her sideswept bangs were messed up. Massies died brown hair with faded blue and pink streaks were in pigtails aswell, only her bangs were better.
“Hey, wheres your boyfriend?” Massie asked, putting air quotes around boyfriend.
“In the main office. He needs to get his locker number and schedual.” I said in my best ‘I don’t give a crap about your car’ tone (lmao inside joke)
“Oh? I bet your not really tgether.” Clair said.
“Oh yeah. We only makeout on occasion.” I said sarcasticly.
“Yeah. And why would he like a fat ugly betch like you?” Massie asked.
“Why are you dissing my girlfriend?” Corey said from behind me.
I heard the door close, and he snaked his arms around my waist and he held me close. For some reason I thought to myself, ‘I wish this wasn’t an act. I wish I could be like this all the time. I wish he really lo---- WOAH!! Im getting alittle, um, yeah… I don’t like him. Yes I do. No!! I cant! I like him, a lot. No! Ah crap, Im arguing with myself again. I must be crazy. I like him. Life sucks’ I said to myself in my head.
“She’s not your girlfriend. We can tell.” Clair said.
“Do you have proof she’s not my girlfriend?” He asked.
I looked up at him and smiled. He smiled back.
~~Coreys P.O.V~~
“Do you have proof she’s not my girlfriend?” I asked Massie and some bottle blond.
I looked down at Emily and she was smiling at me. I smiled back.
‘Crap. I think I like her. But I cant. I have a girlfriend. I’ll break up with her for Emily. I don’t need Lyyn. She’s a spoiled betch anyway. Look at Emilys smile. She’s so pretty, and she dosent know it. I wish I could hold her close all the time. I wish she was mine. I wish she felt the same about me. I am going to call my girlfriend down here Saterday and breakup with her. Emily dosent have to know about it. Then I can make her mine. Who am I kidding? Emilys to good for me, she’ll never like me back. It’s worth a shot… right?’ I said to myself.
I looked back at Massie. She was pissed.
“We can tell.” Massie said. She was really getting on my nerves.
“My god Maddie! What do we have to do to prove it! We already kissed!” I screamed.
“My name is Massie. And that was a quick peck. That was nothing.” Massie said, fliiping her pigtails behind her back.
“We don’t need to prove anything to you!” Emily said. I looked down at her and she looked up at me. “I love Corey.” She said. Her eyes were locked into mine, and there was nothing but truth in them.
“And I love Em.” I said, with the same amount of truth. “We don’t need to prove it.”
~~Emilys P.O.V~~
“We don’t need to prove anything to you!” I said, getting annoyed. I looked up at Corey, and he looked down at me. “I love Corey.” I said, truth poreing out of my words. I do love Corey, if only he knew it.
“And I love Em.” He said. I smiled. He looked like he was telling the truth, but I doubt he was. “We don’t need to prove it.”
I looked back at Massie and Clair. “You do need to prove it.” Clair said.
I pulled out of Coreys grip, and got in Clairs face. I saw Haley out of the corner of my eye. I locked eyes with her for a second, and I could tell she was confused. “Me and Corey are together. We don’t need to prove it. I know it, and he knows it. That’s all that matters. If you’re to stupid to know it, then that’s not my problem. So stop trying to get with my boyfriend and get a mother f*cking life because we’re both sick and tired of your crap.” I said, my voice calm the whole time.
I turned back to corey and he was smileing at me. I smiled back, then turned to look at them.
“We’ll prove you aren’t together, and you’ll be sorry.” Massie said.
“Yeah yeah. Keep talking.” Corey said.
He grabbed my hand, and we walk toward Haley. She was stareing at our hands.
“Are they looking?” Corey asked.
“Yeah. Whats going on?” She asked.
“I’ll tell you later.” I said.
I looked at Corey, and he grabed me by the waist and pulled me close. I felt Massies glare burning into the back of my head. I wraped my arms around his neck, and laghed loud enough for them to hear it. Then he pulled me into a kiss. About three seconds later, Haley cleared her throught.
“They’re gone now.” She said.
We broke apart and I looked at her, and she looked pissed and confused,
“I’m so sorry.” Corey said. “You know you didn’t have to play along.”
“And let you be her boy toy? No thanks. But next time we try to piss her off, don’t kiss me.” I said, even though I wanted him to kiss me. I loved it when he kissed me.
“Next time?” Haley asked.
“Yeah. She just dosen’t get it when we tell her we’re together.” Corey said.
“We aren’t tough.” I said, alittle to fast. Haley gave me a look, I just smiled.
“Lets get to class.” I suggested after an akward silence.
The day went on, and nothing happened. We all walked home, and went our seprate ways up the fork in the road. Once we knew Haley was gone, Corey looked at me, his tense mucels relaxed.
“I swear sometimes I think she wants to hurt me.” He said.
“Haley would never hurt you. She to nice.” I said.
“Hey, uh, thanks for playing along. I’m sorry I kissed you again.” He said.
“What? Oh that, Yeah, um.” I tried to think of something to say. “I think she got the picture this time.”
“Lets hope so. I’ll talk to you later.” He said, turning to walk up the hill.
“Bye Corey.” I said waveing.
“Bye.” He said.
I snuck past my parents and into my room. I closed my window and put a Chiodos cd in. Lexington blasted through my speakers as I did my homework. At six, my cellphone rang. Haley came up on the caller id screen. I got ready to explaine, and opened my phone.
“Sup betch?” I said, trying to sound normal and calm.
“Whats going on between you two?” She asked.
“Notheing much. We’re just friends.” I said.
“Yeah. Friends that kissed. Do you like him?” She asked.
“Not really.” I lied. “And we kissed twice.”
“Stop lieing. You like him. Wait?!? When did you kiss him?” She practicly screamed.
“At the park. We were trying to convince Massie again.” I said,.
“Well, it’s pretty convinceing.” She said. “But really, do you like him?”
“Don’t tell anyone.” I said. She let out a mad sigh. “I do. A lot.”
All I could hear was a screeching sound. Once she calmed down, she started babeling. “You should get together. You’d make a cute couple. Besides, I think he likes you back. And you kissed twice…” She kept on talking, but I drowned her out and listed to the song ‘Intensity in ten cities’ by Chiodos.
“ I have to go eat dinner. I’ll call you later.” I lied.
“Ok. Bye babe.” She said.
“Bye betch.” I said and I hung up.
I fell asleep right after that. The rest of the week went by, and Corey got used to Haley. We hung out Wednesday at my house and played video games. Massie didn’t give us any shit, but she gave us dirty looks when we walked past her. Everytime we saw her in the hall we held hands.
It was Friday afternoon. It started off like every other Friday. School was normal, so was the walk home. But it was the Friday that changed my life forever.Did you like this story? Make one of your own!
