The Path to the Light {Light Within the Dark Sequel} Ch. 2: New Mission... Interrupted

Hikari waited with Sakura, Naruto, and Raiden for Kakashi. They caught up while they did. Raiden spoke little, but listened and occasionally made comments. Kakashi finally showed up.
'You're late!!"
"Well, this time I was delayed filing out paperwork for the new teams."
"Today we start our first mission as a new team! Be enthusiastic! Kakashi Sensei! You've been like that for ages!"
"Oh let it go! There's nothinghe can do about the fact that he has a face devoid of enthusiasm!"
"Haha, nice one, Sakura! I couldn't have said it better myself! Well, actualI could've said that there's something wrong with his face so he's devoid of enthusiasm. But same thing." The walked to the ninja administrations office to get a mission. Tsunade gave them a mission and of course Naruto wasn't happy.
"EHH! That mission, no thanks!"
"Yeah, seriously Tsunade. Give us something fun and challenging." Hikari said.
"You're usually not one to complain."
"Well, I am now."
"So Sorry, Sensei," Sakura said holding Naruto in a head lock. I'll sort him out!"
"The third was more sensible."
"What did you say?!" Hikari giggled at Tsunade's response.
"Hey! Clam down!" Sakura yelled at Naruto who was struggling.
'It.. It's bad! Fifth!" A women came in paniced.
'What is it? You are so loud..."
"Hehe hangover, Tsunade?" Hikari asked.
"Hn."
"The Sand's Kazekage has been taken by an organization called Akatsuki! We just recieved the message!" The women said in unison with Hikari who said it in a bored, unintrested voice. Her tammates looked at her in wonder.
"Alright. Team Kakashi, I will tell you your new mission. You are to go immediately to the Sand, find out the situation, and relay it to the Sand. After that, follow the orders of the Sand and back them up."
"Haha, I like this mission!" Hikari said happily. They went to Konoha gate and were ready to leave.
"Well, off we go!"
"Ok, Tsunade Shishou off we go!" Sakura saluted to Tsunade and Iruka (who was there seeing them off.)
"I think she get's the point. Let's go!"
"Do your best," Iruka said.
"Yeah!!" All of a sudden, Jiraiya appeared.
"Yo! going on a mission, eh Naruto?"
"Ossu!"
"Um.. more importantly,Tsunade,something terrible has happened. The Sand's Kazekage.."
"I know. I'm about to send these guys off to there now." Jiraiya whispered in Tsunade's ear only something Hikari's hearing picked up.
"You do know about the thing between Naruto and the Akatsuki, right? Naruto come here for a sec." Naruto went over to his teacher.
"Careful when it comes to the Akatsuki."
"They've got something against me, so this time I'm coming after them."
"Yeah, you've gotten stronger and all, but when you feel as though you're about to lose control, get a grip on yourself or you'll mess up. Becoming hot-headed too fast is your bad habit."
"....."
"Naruto, I know you know, but don't use that Jutsu."
"I know..."
"Kakashi, make sure Naruto doesn't do anything stupid. He's all yours."
"Yeah."
"Hey guys! Let's get a move on!" Naruto said.
"Wai- Wait a minuteNaruto!" Sakura yelled.
"Shesh, in a hurry much. See ya oldies later," Hikari said running afterNaruto.
"Oldies?"
"What a strange girl..."
"She hasn't changed much. She's still one of a kind."
"See ya." Kakashi said. The team jumped tree to tree and after a bit they spotted Temari.
"Temari-san!" They stopped andtold her what happened.
"What!? Gaara!! ...I had a bad feeling."
"It'll take three days to reach the Sand from here. Let's hurry!"
"Ok!!" They started running again from tree to tree. Naruto began to move faster and started going too far ahead.
"Naruto, just because I said to hurry, you shouldn't split up the team. Don't get so heated. Didn't Jiraiya-sama just tell you that."
"I can't stand it! Even if I know why they're after me and Gaara...! You still don't know, do you Sakura?"
"Inside me is sealed the demon fox Kyuubi. Me and Gaara because we have monsters contained in our bodies that's what they're after! That's what i can't stand! Just seeing us as monsters, I can't stand them looking at us whatever way they feel like! He and I are the exact same! And he was fighting, he was more lonely thanI was... He was targeted by the Akatsuki.. just like I was before... Even so! Why is it always him alone that has to play the hard role!? Always him alone!!? ...That's why! That's why I won't just sit around asking why! this time for definite I want to save him!"
"I'm with you Naruto!I understand what you mean..." Hikari said remembering how people used to treat her like she was a monster.
"Naruto, you've gone through a lot, haven't you?" Sakura asked. "Uchiha Itachi.. and you're his target. I wasn't just training these two and a half years. I was looking through Tsunade's notes and researched outside as much as I could. The enemy Sasuke-kun wants to kill is really his older brother Uchiha Itachi, isn't it? A member of Akatsuki.. Because of that Sasuke is now with Orochimaru to gain power."
"Orochimaru?!" Raiden said. "You didn't say that!" He said to Hikari.
"It's not important. What's done is.. well.. done."
"But Orochimaru only wants Sasuke's body, doesn't he? And all we have left is a half of a year. And Orochimaru was origianlly a member of Akatsuki. in other words, what I am trying to say is this, as we get closer to Akatsuki, we get closer to information about Orochimaru. And therefore we get closer to Sasuke-kun. And our time limit to Sasuke-kun is half a year."
"Yeah!"
"Naruto, Sakura... if Sasuke is what you're after, than I will not be a part of it," Hikari said not looking at them.
"What?! Why!? He was on your team too!"
"I just can't. I'll be happy if I never have to look at him again. It was his choice to leave. No one forced him."
"Look!!" Naruto yelled. "I know you hated Sasuke, but that doesn't mean you can just turn your back on him!!!"
"Hate him!? You know what Uzumaki Naruto!? I'm done with you!! You are so far off from the truth!! I'm done listening to you!! From now on we're teammates! That's it! Stay out of my way and don't talk to me!!" She ran past the rest of her teammates and went to fast for them to catch up.
"Hikari!" Raiden yelled and follwed her, but it was useless. Hikari ran pretty far ahead and stopped at a near by river. She sipped some water and she picked upthree Chakra scents. It wasn't a member of her team.
"Come out, I know you're there," she said calmly. She stood up as the two people came out into the open. Hikari didn't bother facing them, she knew exactly who they were."It's been a while Orochimaru. Why are you confronting me so abruptly? It's unlike you."
"You're right Kabuto. Much more docile."
"Nonlike you I have better things to do than waste my time with petty emotions like anger. Speaking of anger, why don't you tell Sasuke to get down from the tree. I'm not stupid. He might be able to hide his chakra now,but that makesno difference." Another person jumped from the trees.
"Why don't you turn and face us?" Orochimaru said.
"How about not." She tapped the tip of her shoes to the ground and a light bolt shot from the ground to them. It missed.
"What-"
"I no longer require hand signs. Simple movements are fine. I'll ask again, what do you seek?"
"You?"
"Me?"
"I thought you knew everything," Kabuto said.
Hikari chuckled. "You're right. I did say that, didn't I? Well, I do know why your here. It just seems wrong to spoil the fun."
"Still has a twisted mind."
"Of course."
"You've grown, Hikari-chan, though I don't think chan is the right word. You've far exceeded even myself," Orochimaru said, "Do you accept then?"
"Why would I accept when I can just take it from you when you die?"
"You make a good point. You can accept and come quietly or you can get nothing and we take you by force." Hikari started laughing. It inferiated Orochimaru. "What's so funny?"
"You think you can take me? That's a riot." She turned around all the way and got a good look at Sasuke, Orochimaru, and Kabuto.
"Well, you see, Hikari, I required something very intresting recently which has lead me to confronting you."
"Oh? What?"
He took out a small vial with gold liquid. "I bought this from a demon hunter."
"Fuck."
"So, you do know what it is."
"I'm well aware."
"Let's try this again. By force or by choice." She looked at him straight in the eye.
"I'd rather die a thousand times than go with you by choice."
"As you wish." He threw the small vial at her feet and Hikari tried to evade it, but it was too late. She had been engulfed by the smoke the vial created. Hikari collapsed and her mind went black.
