"Gavin, wake up.", I pleaded, cradling his head in my lap. People were screaming for an ambulance and some were crowding around to get a better view of the body. Jacob came over to me, pushing passed the crowed, "You can’t leave, G-Gavin. I need y-you.", I sobbed. Jacob’s small hand touched my shoulder. I thought he was comforting me, until he spoke.

"Phoebe,", he whispered, "your demon friend can help. Call him.", this didn’t make any sense. Why would someone want to kill him? All he was doing was trying to find his little sister!

"Isaac, p-please help him. I’ll do whatever you want. Just please save him.", I pleaded, feeling completely ridiculous. Yet, I wasn’t surprised when everything froze. Him being a pyrokinetic time demon and all. Even Jacob froze. He walked towards me and crouched down beside my love’s still body. He looked at me with smoldering gold eyes.

"I will only save him if you marry me within the next week."

‘Angela’ walked passed the prison chambers, ignoring the useless pleas for freedom. Xavier, the guard, eyed her warily, "Open the door.", she commanded. His suspicions were clearly null, with that fiery attitude he knew who it must be.

"Not until you change back, Eva.", he said. Xavier had to admit, it was amusing to see a shape shifter in the form of a little girl and trying to be intimidating. Though, he knew once she was herself again, he would indeed by intimidated. Eva sighed and the brown hair formed, quickly, into the dark blue hair, pulled into a high pony-tail. Her left eye had a swirl of tattoos around it that covered most of the left side of her body. Her eyes shifted so they were a tad wider, and the color of rubies. Her tan skin was covered by a shiny black leather suit.

"Now let me through you pathetic excuse for a demon.", she hissed. He glared and opened the large door. As Eva passed, Xavier whispered quietly.

"Damned shape shifters."

Eva ignored him and walked into the room with great pride. Once the door closed, she knelt down, her neck exposed to her master, "Have you done what I’ve asked?", a voice asked from the darkened corner of the room.

"The hunter is dead.", she confirmed as she stood, standing rigidly. The owner of the voice walked forward. A smile was forming on his thin pale lips.

"Good. Your reward is through that door.", he said. She nodded shortly and walked through the door. A man, about thirty-one, was chained to a stone slab, whimpering. When the man noticed her presence he started pleading for his life, knowing she was here to take it.

"Please, I have and a wife and two sons. They need me. I can’t leave them.", he cried. Eva gave him a malicious smile before shutting the door. She walked to the man, ignoring his cries, "I can’t leave them.", he cried, trying, hopelessly, to break the steel restraints.

"Too bad.", Eva said and dug her nails into her prey’s skin. She didn’t need to feed like this. She could eat human food, but preferred consuming the fear and hopelessness that her prey felt. When his energy flowed into her, she jerked her head back in ecstasy.

Isaac had taken Jacob with us, along with the bags. We had wound up in a room that looked like a den. It had one of those psychiatrist couches, where Gavin lay. Jacob and I were sitting on a couch by a fire. Who knew that such an arrogant man could live in a place like this? No, I shouldn’t judge him like that. Who knows what he’s really like?, "There. He should be comatose for about a day before he comes to.", he told me, and motioned for me to come over. I nodded and walked over to Gavin. I knelt down next to his couch and stroked his cheek with my thumb, "What is it that attracts you to him?", he asked me. I sighed.

"He’s...different. Unlike you, he wants more than one thing. He’s shy, kind to everyone, unless they don’t deserve it. Isaac, I don’t know how to explain this to you.", I admitted. He cupped my face. His golden eyes staring into mine.

"I understand that. However, you must also understand that you can’t deny the way you feel about me forever.", and he pecked me on the lips. I watched as he stood up and started playing Warrior with Jacob. He was right, I was in love with two men, and I have to marry one. ‘Deathrider’(Anthrax) started playing from my pocket. I slid my phone out and flipped it open.

"Yea.", I said.

"Where are you?", Nathan asked anxiously.

"There was an attack and the hunter was killed. Isaac is reviving him.", I kept my voice cold and flat. But he saw right through it.

"You don’t strike deals with him. He’ll double-coss you.", he hissed.

"He’s not stupid enough.", I retorted.

"Break whatever deal you made and get your ass back home.", he threatened.

"And let Gavin die? Fuck. You.", and I hung up. My phone rang again and I tossed it into the fire, "Dammit", I groaned.

"You okay?", Jacob asked, crawling into my lap. I shook my head and kissed his forehead.

"Isaac, do you have a punching bag?", I asked over the boy’s blonde hair. He nodded and pointed to a room down the hall. I thanked him and set Jacob down.

I’ll kill him. First, he takes my parents, forcing us to leave our home. Then he sends some girl after someone I love?! What’s next?, I thought as I kicked the black punching bag that hung six feet off the ground. Suddenly, everything was clear, well, partially. This is a bit far-fetched I’ll admit, but it could be true. My brothers and I, we hear better than normal people, see better, we do everything better. We sense demons, something humans can’t. Either we’re Halfling or Full-Fledged demons. But, if we’re demons then one of our parents isn’t our actual parent, and if we’re half, only one was human. This made me lash out for some reason.

I let all my anger out on the bag, to the point where my punches and kicks left permanent lesions. I was about to punch the bag again when a voice stopped, "Why don’t you stop beating something that can’t fight back, and try something that can.", he said. I didn’t have to turn around to know who that voice belonged to; I’d heard it all my life. Without turning around, I spoke to my brother.

"You knew."

Mark let out a bitter laugh, "Of course I did. Humans don’t live in hidden villages, otherwise they wouldn’t need to be hidden." I guess that did make sense, and it also made sense for the elderly couple to want us to change our names.

"And you decided to keep this a secret from us.", I accused.

"No, Phoebe, you’re the only who didn’t know.", he said. My lip curled over my teeth and a growl erupted in my throat. He laughed, "Honestly, I’m surprised you hadn’t figured it out sooner. You’re the smart one. At least, that’s what Mom thought. She spent all of her time thinking of you. You! When she had us. You were their little angel. Their miracle.", he spat the words.

"That isn’t true, Mark, and you know it.", I hissed.

"Like hell it isn’t. Ask Nathan or Ace, they know what I’m talking about. You were the reason they were killed."

"You lie.", I said, interrupting. He kept going on like he hadn’t heard me. I turned around and faced him. He smirked.

"You aren’t even Dad’s. mom slept with some other demon, and you’re the result. What makes it worse is who your father is.", he said. I tried blocking him out. He was lying. There is no way that man is my father, "that day Aubrey came once he realized he had a daughter. But no, Mom and Dad wouldn’t give you up. So he killed them, and it was all because of you. They would still be alive if it weren’t for you."

"No,", I growled. I was shuddering with anger.

"Oh yes. Your father killed my parents. It’s your fault, Princess.", he spat and that threw me over the edge. I launched myself at him and punched him. I heard a sickening crack, telling me I had broke his nose. He laughed and kicked me in the stomach, sending me fling into the concrete walls. My head smacked against it and I groaned, sliding down the wall. He chuckled, "You always were weak. Couldn’t fend for yourself. We had to save you from battles you couldn’t win. You are pathetic, worthless. We should’ve killed you when we were running, but no Ace said we should wait. If you knew what Nathan and I were going to do.", he shook his head. I couldn’t believe this. I

I tried to move my lips but they wouldn’t move. I think the impact temporarily paralyzed me. Mark smirked, "This will be so much fun.", he said and made his way over to me. Mark, my brother, my flesh, was going to kill me because Aubrey was my father. All three of my brothers held me responsible for their death. And now I was going to pay for it. Ace, the one who understood me the most, wanted me dead. It looks like he’s about to get his wish. All of them are.
