~Part Two~
Stick and Spirit

Stick woke up to find herself on the twoleg’s rug. Her fur felt soaked, and she tried to find her mother, Spirit.Spirit wasn't far. The tabby queen was laying in the sun silently staring at the wall. Her sightlessgreen eyes gazed at the wall as if she could see right through it. "Hello Berry. I see that you slept in once again." She mewed, her soft voice was calming to Stick, and helped her forget about her dream. Stick meowed her hello, and leapt onto the table. Stick looked out over to the lake. All she wanted was freedom. Spirit soon joined her and gently licked her only kit between her ears.

"There comes a day when even the smallest kit must leave the nursery." Spirit continued,"Today is your day to leave. I can tell you want a life outside this house. You can leave, but promise me that you'll be back to visit!" Stick looked at her mother to see tears rolling down her cheeks.

"But mom....."Stick mewed, leaning against her mother.

"Don't worry about meStick. If your father was here, he'd agree with me." Stick flashed back to the painful memory.
Her father's name was Stick. He was hunting for Spirit and his kit when their twolegs shot him. They thought that he had some kind of sickness, and they didn't want the baby to get sick.
Stick shook her head and meowed, "Thank you mother. I promise to visit as soon as I can." Stick called over her shoulder as she jumped over the gate fence.
