Hope For The Hopeless - A Matt Tuck/BFMV Story
Chapter 9 : Hope For The Hopeless -9-
Do you feel like a man when you push her around? Do you feel better now as she falls to the ground? Well I'll tell you my friend, one day this world's going to end. As your lies crumble down, a new life she has found... "Face Down" by The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus
I awoke in a dark room with a searing pain in my shoulder. As my eyes adjusted, the familiarity set in. I was in my room. He hadn't taken me to the hospital and probably never cared if I was okay or not. I'm surprised he didn't leave me on the floor in the living room. The abuse from earlier played back in my head. The sound of my shoulder shattering on the floor made me cringe. The slight movement however sent my arm into a frenzy of pain. I let out a loud yelp before I felt someone shift in the bed next to me, his or her body lying against mine. I recognized the stature as my husbands. Bastard. I thought before my ears caught a very disturbing sound.
A loud gurgling came from somewhere outside of the room. Yelping once again as pain seared through my shoulder, I got up from the bed, my head spinning and headed towards the door. I looked back to see Chad's back facing me. I opened the door and headed out into the living room. The sight I found was not one I had expected. Evie lay in the middle of the living room floor, her back facing me. I felt my heart nearly rip in two as I stepped towards her quickly. I stepped around her and kneeled onto the floor, only to be met with my sleeping daughter. My heart raced as I picked her up with my good arm, cradling her to me and letting a few tears fall upon her dark hair.
I felt her stir and immediately pulled her away from my form so that I could look at her. Not a bruise, scratch or hair out of place. She looked at me and quickly smiled before reaching her arms out, wanting to once again snuggle against me. I obliged and sat in the middle of the floor, my gaze fixed on the rising sun that began to show through the window, as her breathing steadied and she fell asleep again.

My eyes never left the window until I heard shuffling from somewhere in the house. I looked up and towards the hallway to see Chad standing there, a tray of food in his hands and an apologetic smile. Apologetic my ass. He didn't give a damn whether I lived or died. At this point I was nearly fed up with praying to God. He hadn't helped me when I needed him the most. He protected my daughter, but not me. I suppose though, if he hadn't protected me, Chad would have killed me. So in a sense, he did protect me, just not how I wanted to be protected.
Chad stood a few feet in front of me now, his smile dropping as I glared at him, Evie still tight in my grasp.
"Sarah?" he croaked. "I'm sorry, baby. I'm so sorry. I'm so sorry. I never meant to hurt you. I...I don't know what came over me. I just...just got so angry." I turned my eyes away from him and back towards the window. I didn't want to believe a word that he had said.
"Sarah, baby, please. Please, look at me." My gaze out the window never faltered. He let out a gruff sigh before I heard him get up. My eyes were soon ripped away from the window and towards the wall, where the breakfast he had made, now slowly stained the walls as it slid to the floor. "Why won't you listen to me?!" he bellowed. "Why can't you understand I'm trying to apologize?!"
"Because I don't believe that you're truly sorry. Chad, you shattered my shoulder for crying out loud!" I wailed, tears filling my eyes as the pain in my shoulder began to get worse. "You didn't even take me to the doctor! You put me to bed and left Evie lying in the middle of the living room floor! What the Hell is wrong with you?!" I placed a hand over Evie's ear while pushing the other against my chest so our voices wouldn't bother her as much.
"And I'm just supposed to forgive you?! Screw you! You need to leave my daughter and I alone for a while." I sneered before I, with much difficulty got up from the floor. I walked past him and he gently grabbed my arm.
"Sarah, please. Can we talk about it?"
"We have nothing to talk about. Now get your hand off me and kindly leave us alone."
My voice dropped to a very low, almost sinister tone, causing him to quickly rip his hand away form my arm. I went up the stairs, into our room and closed and locked the door. I sat Evie on the changing table as I ran around the room looking for clean clothes to put on myself. I grabbed new panties and a bra, along with a pair of dark washed jeans, a white, and fitted long sleeve tee, and a black fitted tee with short sleeves. Once dressed, after much difficulty, I wiped the smeared make up from under my eyes and made my way towards Evie. Once she was dressed as well, I picked her up with my good arm and made my way towards the door. Unlocking it and opening it was a feat because of the pain in my shoulder. So was closing and locking it earlier.
I headed down stairs, slipped shoes on my feet and walked out. Not bothering to grab a coat for myself, just relying on the thin long sleeve tee to keep me warm. I knew where I was headed. And I had to get there as quickly as possible.

The wooden doors stood open, held in place by small wooden doorstops, beckoning anyone who stood before them to come in. The stained glass windows above those doors seemed to tower over me as I looked up. Smiling faces of the nuns could be seen from where I was. I never got tired of the beauty of this church. I made my way up the steps, immediately taking a left once I entered the doors. I walked over to a fairly large wooden box and opened one of the doors. Sitting down on a small bench I looked down at Evie, who simply grinned back at me.
"I love you, baby." I murmured before a door behind the small metal grate in front of me opened, letting me know a priest was on the other side.
"Forgive me father, for I have sinned."

I didn't realize how long I had poured my heart and soul to that priest until I stepped outside to be met with the setting sun. I stood for a moment, just taking in the beauty before I felt Evie stir. I was surprised she hadn't cried all day for food, considering she hadn't eaten, but I had a feeling it would all start soon. I sighed heavily before heading back towards my home. I hadn't gone far before a familiar voice met my ears.
"Sarah?"
I turned around to see Padge and Moose standing at the bottom of the church steps. Had they been in there the whole time? Or had they just walked up and stopped by them?
They smiled as they realized it was me. I flashed a small smile before heading back towards them.
"Hello there lady." spoke Moose, giving me a gentle hug before Padge followed suit.
"How are you?"
"Um, I'm alright. And yourselves?"
"Good, good. Listen, we're heading to dinner at Matt's, would you like to join us? I'm sure the other guys wouldn't mind the company." spoke Padge.
"Well, I really shouldn't, you see..." Padge cut me off.
"Nonsense! You'll have fun! Besides, you look like you could use some familiar faces." he smiled.
"Uh, sure, why not?" I finally gave in, looking to Evie for approval. She gave a giggle before bouncing a bit in my arms.
"See, even the little one wants to come!" spouted Moose. "Okay! Let's go!" And with that we headed off to Matt's house. I wasn't sure what would come out of this, but I felt that it couldn't be good. How would I cover the fact that my shoulder was clearly broken, or shattered and that the small welt on my cheek was nothing? Apparently they hadn't noticed it, but someone was bound to. I just didn't want it to be the guys.
You don't really love me; I can see it in your eyes. You used to be beside me but now you run and hide.
