RECAP:
‘… You know you should act on impulse instead of figuring things out.’ You replied, and he jumped in for the kill. His arms holding your waist and your arms resting on his chest and biceps, his soft lips moulding into yours and so a sweet kiss began.
A whole new Chapter Began.
NEXT PART:
By now, you were used to frequent changes in time and place, and you were now always in a ready state that the next step would send you into the next scene, and they were becoming incredibly annoying. One minute you would be having convocation about some strange Australian pond weed with Neville and then you would be having an argument with Theodore Nott about quidditch.
The worst so far was being sent forward to a quidditch practise where you had not landed on the broom but missed it completely; consequently breaking your wrist and you had to endure the pain for a good six hours before you were sent forward in time again. You partly suspected that this was not an accident but what ever was controlling your situation here got pleasure out of your pain and had a good old giggle at your misfortune, a thought that seemed a more realistic proposition by the minute.
At the particular moment in time, it was about 2am and you were finding it increasingly difficult to get to sleep. Eventually getting frustrated with the hot air in the dormitory and trading it in for the chance that you would get caught out in the pitch black hall ways or wherever your feet led you.
After walking round aimlessly for at least 20 minutes, you decided to go out onto a balcony on the second floor that you were passing. The air outside was cool and crisp but wasn’t too cold for what you were sure was some point between the end of January and beginning of February.
It was a rather dark cloudy night so to be honest, there really wasn’t much to be looking at, but it was this or sitting watching elves clean the Common Room, and trying to work out places and wandering round the castle seemed much more entertaining.
You so far had managed to make out a distant light which you were sure was Hagrid’s cabin, near by you could see the reflection of the castle on the lake, a glimmer of the moon on the greenhouse’s glass when the moon broke through the thick cloud.
You were now attempting to work out where Hogsmeade was, and also how long it would take you run back to London and making up ridiculous situations for yourself to work out a solution to if they were to appear on the run there, such as five dragons in your way and you can stun the first four but the fifth could toast you before you have finished and how would you get past it.
‘You know, as a prefect I ought to give you a detention.’ Coming out of your daze you swivelled on your heels and turned to face Cedric, looking at him and then turning back round to your view without a bother.
‘You know it’s about 2.30 in the morning. You should give yourself a detention.’ You said eventually just as you worked out what you were sure was the faint glow coming from Hogsmeade station.
After a long pause Cedric replied, ‘Touché.’ He sighed to himself and stood closely behind you so that you could hear him breathing in your ear. ‘You know that she’s making it up. You know, what she’s telling everyone.’
‘I’m sorry Diggory but I don’t know, I don’t know who you’re talking about, and I don’t know what she’s telling everyone.’
‘Don’t play stupid Hannah; I know that despite what they say you are intelligent.’
‘What do you mean what they say?!’ you replied, a smile coming over his face at the realisation that he had finally got your attention that had been so far away on his arrival.
‘Cho.’ He said in an its-blatantly-obvious tone. ‘We’ve hardly talked since the ball.’
‘Either have you and I.’ you replied simply, not sticking up for Cho but more creating obstacles for him to get round for your own amusement.
‘Err, no quite, but we have talked. And we have kissed.’ He replied, a coy smile appearing on his face although you would take no notice of it. ‘We’re not dating.’
‘And why Mr Diggory, would I mind if you were?’ you asked raising an eyebrow, a slight smirk forming on your lips although you tried to keep a straight face.
‘Oh, err, just – I dunno, err because girls usually care if they are making out with someone who has a relationship with another girl.’
‘Ced, I’m pretty sure we’ve worked that one out before.’
‘Yeah well, it would be a lot easier for me if you were like other girls, one minute I have you all figured out and the next I don’t.’
‘I know. Best to keep you on your toes.’ You said glancing and winking at him.
‘So… you’re not into the whole, relationship thing then?’
‘Not really, see, if you have a guy, without the strings, I find its a lot easier for things to go back to friends, and avoid heart ache, as if you do get hurt, it’s easy to persuade yourself that you cannot get upset by it at the end.’ You paused for a moment and looked at Cedric out the corner of your eye, who seemed to be thinking this theory over in his head.
‘Yeah, I suppose.’ He said, although the tone of his voice contradicted himself.
‘Plus there is always the fact that guys like that fact and you can have anyone you want really.’
‘That, Hannah, is what gets you the label slut.’
‘Meh, what you gunna do?’ you said with an innocent shrug.
‘So… if I was to go out with Miss Chang, you would keep getting with me and not get jealous?’
‘Mhm, I usually wouldn’t do the whole cheating thing but lets be honest, it’s not as if she hasn’t done the reverse to me.’
‘Mhmm…’ He said a vacant expression glazing across his face.
‘You’re going to test it aren’t you?’
‘Perhaps…’ He said eying you out the corner of his eye.
---
‘Cedric.’ You asked slowly.
‘Mhm?’ he replied contently.
‘Why did you give me a detention?’ you asked in the same warning tone.
‘Because you were wandering the halls past curfew.’
‘And…’
‘It’s a good opportunity to be alone.’ He replied, an extremely mischievous grin following the sentence, him edging towards where you were sat on the edge of an old desk.
‘What makes you think I want to be alone with you?’ you asked mockingly.
‘I just know you do.’ He said with a wink, flicking his wand and you heard the lock click.
Very little was spoken for the next 40 minutes or so, and as enjoying as re-losing your virginity may be, you couldn’t turn the little alarm in the back of your head screaming at you to stop and think about what you were doing. No, not because of what you were physically doing, because its not like you hadn’t done it before and getting close to Cedric again in someway other than a dream was a little too good to miss, but there were background thoughts.
Something in the back of your mind was telling you that you were falling in love all over again. Not that you’d ever really fallen out, but still. It all seemed logical, the reason why it had sent you back to when you both first started liking each other, could be to make you re-feel your feelings for him, make you once again crave him and his touch.
Obviously at this realisation, you had to think of what to do, the obvious one being to distance yourself from him, but who was to say that wouldn’t make you want him even more? If he’s there, even if not real, he still smells the same tastes the same, feels the same, the only difference is the lighting (Somehow that just doesn’t tip it for you) then you still want full use of him. What if you can’t distance yourself from him? You have tried to run away here before and it would only let you stray too far. It won’t let you say anything that is too far off topic. What if it made him seem like he is hurt by your rejection, you just don’t think you could take seeing him upset or angry at you.
If it made him angry, what was to say it wouldn’t make him hurt you? You wouldn’t want thoughts of his image causing you pain to be stuck with you forever, distorting your memories of a perfect guy that you can keep with you till your grave.
‘So, I’ve just taken your virginity huh?’ Cedric said causally as he put his shirt back on.’
‘Uhuh.’
‘How’s that feel?’
‘Normal.’
‘Hey, when your older, when people ask, you will be able to say “Yeah, I lost my Virginity to Cedric Diggory.” And they will be like Gasp! “Cedric Diggory! He’s gorgeous! What a hunk! I’d kill to have him in my pants!”’
‘Uhuh, sure I will.’ You said in a monotone, which Cedric seemed to be questioning the reason for judging by the expression on his face, so you had to join in. ‘and you will be able to say, “Yeah, uh, I took Hannah Warren’s Virginity.” And they will be like “No way man! The best auror slash quidditch player ever? Fucking hell mate she’s hot!”’ At the end of your impersonations Cedric nodded, seemingly content with what you had said and not worrying about you being upset.
‘Come on we ought to go now, I told everyone it was only an hour long.’ He said flicking his wand at the door and you heard another click, he took your hand and led you to the door.
‘Hi Cedric!’ A high pitched squeal reached your ears as soon as you emerged from the old classroom, a squeal that you had to hold your ears for a second to make sure you could still hear after. You looked up to Cedric who had his arms outstretched as if keeping his balance and Cho wrapped around his neck in a tight embrace, her feet off the floor – the soles facing the ceiling.
‘Err- Hi Cho.’ He replied as he unclamped her from his neck.
‘Hey me and some of the other Ravenclaws are having a part- why were you in there with her?’ She had gone from an overly bubbly tone to an I-hate-her-guts tone in a matter of milliseconds.
‘Detention.’ Cedric replied, half sighing and paying no attention to the two girls that were glaring at each other just to his left.
‘Doesn’t surprise me one bit.’ She said narrowing her eyes. ‘Anyway, The rest of the Ravenclaws and I are having a party to night and I was just wandering if you wanted to come with me? Most of the Ravenclaws are inviting a Hufflepuff so you won’t be the only one.’ She said snapping back to her I’m-incredibly-excited voice again.
‘Err, I think I have prefect duty-‘ He began, then his eyes landed on you, ‘Cho I would love to go with you.’ He said a smirk coming onto his face, not breaking eye contact with you; however Cho did not seem to notice.
‘Great!’ She shrieked, startling Cedric out of his gaze. ‘I will see you outside the Hufflepuff Portrait in an hour then!’ She jumped onto him in a hug, off again, and pranced off down the hall all in one swift movement.
Cedric looked down at you and you looked back up at him with a plain expression.
‘What?’ he smirked, ‘Jealous?’
‘Not quite.’ You replied.
‘Oh?’ He replied questionably and he watched a group of his year walk past and he said hello to most of them, a few high fives on the way, while you kept your gaze on him.
‘Ced?’ you began after the large group had disappeared around a corner yet could still be heard clearly.
‘Mhm?’ he smiled.
‘…You’re wearing my lip gloss…’ you said smirking slightly at the pink tinted sparkly substance sat on and around his mouth quite noticeably.
Cedric stood with a smile for a moment, registered what you said and began frantically whipping at his face with his sleeve. ‘You know – you are so – so fucking lucky – none of them noticed.’ You both stood for a minute quietly and then both broke into laughter.
‘Do me a favour and never, never wear it again.’
‘I never have…’ you mumbled to feet.
‘Well, have fun at your party with Cho.’ You said winking and walking off laughing slightly to yourself.
---
‘Harry I’m sure we can work it out, I know it’s late but we can do it, could you just recite it to me again?’ Hermione asked Harry who was sat at a desk in the Library, where you had been since dinner three hours ago.
‘Come see us where our voices sound, We cannot sing above the ground, and while your searching ponder this: We’ve taken what you’ll sorely miss, An hour long you’ll have to look, and to recover what we took, but past an hour – the prospects black, Too late, it’s gone, it won’t come back.’ Harry mumbled out, and repeatedly banged his head against the table when he had finished as Hermione paced up and down pondering over what he could use to stay under water for an hour.
‘Gillyweed.’ You said for the hundredth time although of course, you weren’t aloud to tell them that, so it was completely ignored.
You and Ron were sat on the floor to the left of Harry’s desk, leaning on the bookshelf behind, and you were resting you head on his shoulder, he had his head on yours, and you were pretty sure you were both half asleep by now.
‘Granger, Warren, Weasley, McGonagall has requested your presence in here office now.’ Moody barked as he appeared around the corner closest to you.
‘But Harry needs-‘
‘Miss Granger, with the task no more than twelve hours away, I’m sure Mr Potter is more than ready for the second task, now go.’ He said, his fake eye looking at Harry who was still slumped on the table. ‘Longbottom!’ He barked peering back round the row of books that he had just come from, you could hear a sudden shuffle and footsteps and then a slightly worried looking Neville appeared.
‘Yes sir?’
‘Help Harry put his books away.’ He said and Harry began to get up. ‘Warren! Weasley!’ he said very loudly and sharply, making you jump out of your sleepy state, but somehow Ron had now fallen asleep, at this sight, Moody started to growl.
‘Ron. Ron, Ron!’ you said shaking him, he eventually made a few spluttering noises and you pulled him up.
‘Come on.’ You said quietly walking towards Hermione and walking off down through the library.
‘What’s Harry going to do?’ Hermione whispered walking on Ron’s other side and taking hold of his arm to keep him walking.
‘He’ll work it out Hermione.’ You said calmingly.
‘What do you recon McGonagall wants with us?’ she asked.
‘No idea.’
Soon you found yourself outside McGonagall’s office, meeting Gabrielle Delacour who seemed to have just got there for no reason as well.
‘Shall we knock?’ she asked.
‘Yeah we better.’ Hermione said, her grudge against Bauxbatons coming through strongly and pushed forward to knock herself. Gabrielle looked behind to you and you just shrugged.
The wooden door soon opened and McGonagall peered round.
‘Ah, good you’re all here. Everyone come in but Hannah please can you go and fetch Mr Diggory for me thank you.’ She said ushering the other three into her office.
‘Cedric Diggory?’ you asked a little shocked and a little worried.
‘Do you know any other?’ she asked and began to close the door.
‘But where will he be?’
‘I don’t know Hannah but please go and start looking; I would start at the Hufflepuff common room.’ She said closing the door.
‘Right.’ You said to yourself and wandered off down two floors to the Hufflepuff portrait. When you got there Hannah Abbott was just saying the password.
‘Hannah.’
‘What?’ she snapped, you never did get along with that girl.
‘Can you go and get Cedric for me?’
‘Why?’ she asked placing her hands on her hips.
‘Because McGonagall sent me.’
Hannah eyed you up and down for a moment. ‘Fine.’ She sighed and went in through the portrait. You lent against the opposite wall and waited.
‘Hannah?’
‘Cedric how long does it take you to walk to the door?’
‘I was in the shower.’
‘Mmm I will let you off, come on; McGonagall wants you, or us.’
‘Us? Why would she want us?’
‘No idea.’ You replied as you came onto the third floor and made to go onto the fourth.
‘You don’t recon-?’
‘No, who would know what we’ve been up to? Harry and that don’t even know so I doubt she would.’
‘I hope so.’
‘Me too, hopefully it’s just some strange coincidence.’
You came to her door and knocked on it once again.
‘See Miss Warren that really wasn’t that difficult was it?’ she said opening the door wide. ‘Come on both of you.’ She said, you and Cedric made sure to avoid each others eye contact and walked inside and stood on the opposite side of her desk. Cedric stood next to you and you quickly looked at each other before looking at your head of house.
‘I am about to discuss something that you must not tell anyone.’ She began, turning at taking a seat opposite the both of you. ‘The task tomorrow, that I’m sure Cedric you are ready for, involves rescuing something you care about, I take it you guessed that already?’ you both nodded. ‘Well, the thing that you have to rescue is a person. That person has to be the same weight, or lighter than you. So, we have something that tells us who the contestant cares about most from the people lighter than them on the Hogwarts grounds.’ She placed her elbows on the desk and laced her fingers together. ‘Now it was easy, Harry and Ron - obvious due to the fact their best friends, Fleur and Gabrielle - sisters, Hermione and Victor – He asked her to the Ball, now when we came to you Cedric, I hit a slight problem. Now I am not asking this to pry into your private lives, just to make those easier for you. Now, as I’m sure you both know, Cedric and Cho becoming a couple has been the gossip of the school lately, so obviously, I suspected it to be Cho who came out on top, but it was Hannah.’ The Room fell into a deathly quiet for a moment, neither you nor Cedric looked at each other. ‘Now, I have never heard that you two were best of friends, but I am not going to pry into that, so I would like to know now, to avoid questions from other students, would you like it to be You, Hannah, or Cho who is in the lake?’
‘Cho.’ You both said at the same time nodding.
‘Right, Hannah you are not to speak of what you know to anyone. You are both dismissed. Good luck for tomorrow Cedric.’
‘Thank you Professor.’ He replied as you exited through the door that she was holding open for you. You quickly started towards the staircase.
‘Hannah wait.’ Cedric called and you stopped in your tracks but did not turn round. He came next to you and turned you to look at him. He scanned your face for some give away of your reaction but he couldn’t find one, eventually you put him out of his misery.
‘Cedric, it’s not nice to use Cho just to make me jealous.’ You said raising an eyebrow, then turning and carrying on your way.
‘But it is working?’ he said jogging to catch you up and walk next to you.
‘Nope, I told you, I like to share, I don’t ‘do’ relationships.’ He sighed.
‘But it will get to you eventually.’ He said a smirk appearing on his face.
‘No Ced, I assure you, it won’t.’
‘Mhmm we’ll see.’ He said, and you went to depart ways at the stairs. ‘No good luck kiss?’ he said as you were half way up the stairs.
‘If you come up here you can have one.’ You said after a moment.
He walked up the stairs till your faces were level, you leaned in and brushed your lips against his. ‘Tomorrow.’ You smirked and turned and walked to the top of the stairs.
‘Not nice Miss Warren.’ You shrugged innocently. ‘So if I can find you tomorrow I can have one?’
‘Mhmm.’ you agreed.
‘No teasing?’
‘No teasing.’
‘See you tomorrow then.’
‘see you tomorrow.’
