Chapter 2 : { Kissing My Reaper } -- Vampire Love Story [Ch.2]
It's here! Yay... Banners people, banners! I need some... I explained everything in the Update link. Take a look. Enjoy.♥
"I didn't know you liked hiking," Jay's voice carried to my ears from behind me. Glancing over my shoulder to him, I slightly rolled my eyes. How dense was he, anyway? Was he to blind to see how my feet stumbled over something every third step, or was he just trying to act like a bimbo to make me feel a little better about myself? Well, whatever it was, he clearly needed to stop it. It was slightly annoying, even though I wasn't entirely sure as to how. Maybe it was just the fact that I had to travel over logs, bushes and deep holes to get to my secret place... I hated hiking. As a kid, I loved it. But as soon as I grew into my two left feet, that changed drastically fast...
Sighing, I continued walking, my eyes connected to the floor of the woods we were venturing deeper and deeper into. "I don't..." As if on cue, I eased myself onto a moss - covered log. It looked like it was stable enough to hold my wait, though my pass of judgment these days clearly wasn't the best talent I've managed to have. As soon as my foot was 'securely' upon the top of the log, the dammed thing decided to prove to Jay my amazing balance skills - as if.
It slightly wobbled under the sole of my converse, threatening to roll over onto either side with the wrong movement of my body weight. Closing my eyes, never a good thing in my case, I quickly jumped off of it. Landing onto something slightly more unstable, I cursed under my breath and braced myself for a fall. Though, then I didn't feel anything hit my hands, I opened my left eye, soon followed by my right, to see I was just standing there with my arms in front of me. Idiot... Taking another glance over my shoulder, I was glad to see that Jay was to bust trying to over climb the large log to have noticed my foolishness. Stuffing one of my hands into my hoody pocket, I looked ahead of my and continued up the slight hill full of trees.
My gray eyes searched for something to spot to tell me I was traveling the correct way; a familiar tree, stump or a bush. Seeing a small dented looking tree trunk, my lips pulled into a soft smile and I slightly turned our track to the side, following the direction the trunk's branches reached out towards. Jason followed without much hesitation, clearly trying to prevent himself from falling on his rear and looking like a klutz. Of course, I wouldn't hold it against him much. I fell without even walking, let alone climbing a hill full of death traps, so it wouldn't have really fazed me to hear him winch in light pain and agree with me on the hiking bit in life.
"You sure you know where you're going, right, Noir?" His voice was a gentle purr now, and I could hear it as if he were right behind me. Moving my head to look over my shoulder, my eyes grew slightly wide. He was right behind me! So close I could smell the scent from his hair gel, to notice every detail upon his flawless skin, as well as his baby blue eyes. They sparkled with a sense of excitement, it seemed... but why? It wasn't like this was a very exciting aspect about the destination... at least not in my eyes.
Before I could react, or say anything, I felt some kind of pressure upon my hips. My legs tensed even more, making it almost impossible for me to move. My gray eyes were frozen against his blue ones, wide with shock. I could feel my heart slightly pick up in speed, my body almost trembling from the sudden, and strange, touch. Was it his hands? Why on earth would he be touching me!? Maybe to steady myself... but, I wasn't moving... so, he didn't need to be... Closing my eyes in confusion, I couldn't stand to look into his eyes any longer. I could feel a head ache starting to form from all the thoughts rushing within my mind, alerting me, and giving me slight ideas of how to react within the situation, even though I couldn't bring myself to do any of them.
Then my body shifted. I could feel his chest on my back, the material of my hoody was extremely thing, and the t shirt under it was the same case. I could almost feel the hear pulsing off of his body, like he didn't have a shirt on at all... Instantly, I lunched forwards on the wobbly rocks, hoping to get out of his grasp before I said or did something I didn't entirely mean. I looked at Jay like a friend... that was all there was going to be between us! My hands fell from my pockets, my eyes instantly opening to watch myself, and see where I was going. Though, it was to late... I had already side stepped and the rock under my foot gave way as soon as my weight was on it.
The falling was easy to deal with, it was only about a three second free fall until I crashed my rear onto the face of a large misshapen rock. That was the part I had a hard time dealing with... It always seemed like I spent most of my time on the ground, never on my feet. Not that I was extremely clumsy, though I had my days. And, currently, today just had to be one of my days...
"Geeze, Noir. Way to fall..." Jason moved in front of me, his light eyes peering toward the moved rocks on the ground. When his gaze returned to mine, his lips pulled into a soft smile. "Guess you weren't kidding about those two left feet of yours, huh?" His eyes shifted around my face, as if looking for something he had missed every other time when he looked at my face. Or.. maybe he was just checking to see it was still intact, or something...
"Very funny, bonehead." My hands moved to grasp upon the rock underneath me, my fingers aching as I clenched the hard surface. I was embracing myself to stand, or at least hopefully get half way there. As long as I could move away from Jay before he got anymore ideas, then I'd be fine. Awkward moments seemed to love me... but I tried my best to stay away from them. Hopefully, whoever was playing against me up above, would allow this one thing not to go wrong.
"Easy there," Glancing up, I came face to face with Jay. He was barely a foot away from my face - so close, I could feel his breath upon my lips. "Wouldn't want you hurting yourself even more, now would we?" A sly smile pulled across his tanned skin, and the look in his eyes was to welcoming for any sort of comfort to ease into my tensed body. He pushed a little more in between my slightly spread legs, filling in the room as if his body was meant to be there... no matter how hard I wished to move, to kick him back, I didn't budge.
As I sat there, speechless and dumbfounded, I couldn't help but realize just how much Jason Dune liked me. All the signs had been there; I hadn't even been in Gravehedge for more then two weeks, and he had wanted to make friends. He was so eager. I wanted to kick myself, or smack my forehead into a wall, for being so blind. How did I become so friggin' dense, anyways!? It was almost like a blindfold had been ripped from my face, and I could finally see the thing thats been hidden in darkness... I was such a moron, that I couldn't even see that!
Thoughts flushed along the walls of my brain, like a blood bath, one thought running over the next. It was as if I wasn't getting the picture clearly, or there was some missing link to my mind that made me want to scan even more, to rack my memories for more information about how he was towards me. About how he wanted to be around me. Why wasn't I understanding this!? It was so simple, so vivid, so there!
"You look a bit dazed... maybe even a bit, dazzled?" Jay's hopeful voice broke my frustrated concentration, bringing me back to a situation I felt so uncomfortable in. My eyes were almost starting to water as they peered into his. Never once did he blink, as if he was waiting for me to answer him. He had so much hope, so much pride... it was almost disgusting. What, did he imagine that I was about to just, hand myself over to him because he was my first male friend? He needed a reality check. Bad.
Opening my mouth, I tried to speak. Nothing came out, unless it was short of a soft whimper. My chest started to heave into my t shirt, each breath getting quicker as it continued, allowing oxygen to fill my lungs. Closing my eyes, my fingers tensed more harshly upon the solid surface of the rock. It was to the point where I could feel my skin starting to rip, my finger tips were white from the pressure I was pushing upon them. It was a good thing the human bones weren't fragile or else I would've had ten broken fingers to deal with for the next couple of months.
And thats when it happened.
My forehead shot forward, my breathing had stopped, and my hands softened on the rock. The first thing I felt was the crash of my head against Jason's, throbbing within my chest, and the fall that followed. From the floor of the woods, I could hear the faint shifting around the bushes and dried leaves. My eyes still remained tightly closed, as if they were stitched together, unable to move my body. The last thing that registered within my mind, were two strong arms pulling me from the ground - certainly not Jay's -, and then everything went numb...
