Chapter 4 : New Day, New Leaf
RECAP:: You and Dani were hanging out with Slipknot. The guys got a small taste of what it's like in your household, including the injuries you sustain on a almost daily basis. Jim decided to play doctor for you!!
I woke up cuddled up to the woman that had a very good chance of being Joey's sister. Somehow during the night I'd moved across the bed and snuggled to her. Hell, Corey had done the same thing to Dani!! The girls had draped an arm over one another, which looked adorable. Joey was up already and watching cartoons on Lilianna's massive big-screen, high def TV.
"Morning dude." I whispered
"Morning, Jim. How'd ya sleep?" Joey whispered back
"Not too bad." I replied
It wasn't too long after that, that Corey started stirring. He looked a bit surprised at first until he looked down and saw the woman he was cuddled up with. I'm sure I looked the same way as he did now when I woke up. Smile spreading across my face, calm demeanor, look of utter adoration for the woman in my arms. Looking down at Lilianna, she looked incredibly peaceful after yesterday.The bandage on her cheek just reminded me of all of it. Unable to stop myself, I began to lightly caress her cheek which made her instinctively smile in her sleep.
As I lay there, I began to really take in her body. She had some amazing tattoos! There was the large black and neon blue dragon across her back as well as a black heart with a dagger sticking through it and was bleeding on her left upper arm. She had this purple, black, and pink butterfly between her shoulder blades. Suddenly I ached to trace them, to run my tongue over them. What was coming over me? I don't react this way to women!
"Dude, you've got a serious thing for her, huh?" Corey whispered to me
"I can't stop myself from being attracted to her." I whispered back
"Yeah, I feel the same way about Dani. Something about her just sorta makes you gravitate to her." Corey stated as he stared at Dani
I don't know how long the three of us lounged around awaiting the girls to wake up. Suddenly Joey's phone began ringing which he quickly answered to avoid waking the girls. He went to the bathroom to talk to whomever it was. A few minutes later he said that his parents would be ready to be picked up in an hour since the DNA results were in. Guess now we had to wake them up!
The arms wrapped around my waist gave me comfort. Suddenly I felt a hand running down my arm and side, coming to a rest on my hip. Hot breath tickled my ear before I heard 'Lilianna, sweetness you gotta get up.'. Moaning then rolling over and burying my face in the bare chest of the man behind me, I heard soft laughter. He gently rubbed my back as I tried to get back to sleep.
"Mmm, I don't wanna get up." I heard Dani exclaim, making the guys laugh
"My parents said they'd be ready in an hour to be picked up because the DNA results were ready." Joey informed her
"Oh! Well, let her sleep as long as possible and I'll take my shower first." Dani said, taking charge
"Yes Ma'am!!" I heard both Corey and Joey say
The lingering scent of Jim's cologne implanted itself on my brain. I found it very soothing, definitely something I could get used to smelling everyday! It didn't take me long to fall back asleep, however, cradled in Jim's powerful, yet gentle arms.
"Sweetness, you gotta get up now. Come one, Sweetness..." I heard that deep but low voice whisper in my ear, stirring me from my peaceful slumber
"Lilly!! Come on babe, you gotta get moving. We'll stop and get breakfast on the way." Dani exclaimed, making me sigh
"Alright, I'm up." I said, stretching
"I left the shower running for ya. Want me to get some clothes while you're showering?" Dani asked
"Yeah. My favorite skirt and the top that I usually wear with it. Obviously all my accessories." I said scooting to the foot of my bed and hopping off
Shutting the bathroom door, I quickly stripped myself and stepped into the steamy water. With all that's gone on the last 24 hours, the hot water felt good to my overly tired body. After reveling in the hot water and how good it felt, I got down to business of shaving and washing my hair. Once that was done I quickly washed my body and got out. Dani had snuck in and placed my clothes on the counter for me. Having dried off, I wrapped my hair in my towel and began to get dressed in my favorite black lace bra and boy-short set and black fishnet hose and then:

She didn't bother bringing my shoes or jewelry or anything, which was fine. Walking out into my bedroom, I noticed all the guys had gotten dressed and Joey was on the phone with someone. I dug around my closet for my favorite combat boots. Dani suddenly hugged me and told me that the results of this test was going to change my life completely. Smiling at my friend, I finished getting dressed:

"You look great, Lilianna!" Joey exclaimed when he finally got a good look at me
"You guys know that you can call me Lilly, right?" I laughed softly, "But thank you, Joey."
"Cool." Corey simply said
"We all ready to go? Cause I'm starving!!" Dani laughed
"Yeah, I'm all ready. Food sounds fantastic, too."I stated, grabbing my HIM messenger bag and keys
Everytime I left, I always locked my room. It was habit and it was because I knew Gary and "Mom" had a habit of snooping around my room. Getting locks installed was one of the first things I did when I got my first job and started working on my room. There was this monstrous Hummer stretch limo awaiting us when we left the house. Dani and I just stopped and stared at it, unbelieving it. Joey ushered us into the beastly vehicle, chuckling softly the whole time.
We had to pick up the rest of the band and Joey's parents before we could stop for breakfast. Naturally Dani and I both pouted the whole time about it which seemed to amuse the guys greatly. All the guys and the Jordison's were standing outside the hotel awaiting our arrival. They piled into the limo, and as big as it truly was, 13 people were awfully crowded in it. We were all squished together with almost no room to move. How the fuck were we supposed to eat?
I leaned my head on Jim's shoulder as Mrs. Jordison was talking about how excited she was and how she just knew that I was indeed her daughter. Since I hadn't gotten much time to speak with them yesterday I figured after this test, assuming it proved we were related, we would be having some "family time" without the band and Dani. Our next stop was to pick up breakfast. Mr. Jordison convinced us to head straight to the hospital to meet up with the doctor who'd performed the test. Dani and I sighed shortly before our tummy's started grumbling LOUDLY.
Jim gave me a light squeeze, as he'd snuck his arm around my waist shortly after we took off. Dani and Joey were talking about Iowa. I could only scoff at them. She had a cousin out in Iowa, somewhere on the outskirts of Des Moine if my memory serves me correctly, and often talks about going out there for a visit. It never happens but I know she'd like to go out there. Then I began wondering why I hated Iowa so much. I've never been there and don't know anyone, except Slipknot that is, that is from there. So why is it that I hate the state so much?
Gary and "Mom" always talk made shit about the state and I never knew why. Then things started clicking in my head. They avoided the state under the umbrella of "We hate the state, there's nothing there, it's a shit-hole place". The reason they avoided the state was because they kidnapped me there!
"Mrs. Jordison, where was I born?" I suddenly questioned, making the entire limo go silent
"You were born at Mercy Medical Center in downtown Des Moine. Why do you ask?" She said, happy that I was taking an interest
"Just working things out in my head." I replied, giving her a soft smile
"I remember the night Carol went into labor with you! We had to call my brother to watch Joey while I took Carol to the hospital. I was so paranoid that she was going to deliver right there in the car when we got stuck in a traffic jam!" Mr. Jordison laughed softly remembering obviously fond memories.
I was about to say something when the limo came to a stop. After climbing out, Dani took my left hand and Joey grabbed my right. As much as the whole situation freaked me out, I found that I liked Joey alot as a person. My heart started beating faster and butterfies were running rampant in my tummy. Why was I so nervous all of a sudden? Mr. Jordison was talking with the girl at the front desk and his wife was close by his side. It was then that I really started observing their behavior.
They supported one another, at least from what I could tell, and were very loving. Walking over to us, she informed the group that the doctor was with a patient but would be with us as soon as he could. I watched as she tried to sooth her son and make him feel more comfortable after he revealed that he himself was quite nervous. My "parents" never did that for me! Is this what a normal family unit is supposed to function like? How fucked up am I??
"Lilianna? Are you alright?" Mrs. Jordison asked
"I was just thinking. I've been observing how the 3 of you interact with one another." I stated, making Jim, Joey, Mr. Jordison, Corey, and Chris all lean in to hear our conversation
"Oh? What do you mean?" She asked warmly
"Take for instance your body language. You seem to support one another. Your actions are very friendly and loving. When talking to one another, it's not angry or screaming." I started
"This is new for you?" Mr. Jordison quetioned
"Are you fucking serious? We can't talk to one another with out giving attitude and or yelling. Forget about feelings of love, acceptance, support. They have never supported anything I've ever tried to do." I stated
"That's not what a loving family is like. I'm really sorry you don't know what that's like!" Mrs. Jordison said, hugging me
"Mr. and Mrs. Jordison?" This older doctor in a white lab coat said appearing seemingly out of nowhwere
Mr. Jordison shook hands with the guy before introducing his wife, son and me. With the results about to be revealed, I started to freak again. This would be proof positive either way. Feeling my body starting to shake as the doctor told us about the test I started debating on running. Right as he started reading the test, I turned and ran. I couldn't do this. This was too much for me to handle!!
I ran as long as I could. Before I knew it, I found myself standing at mine and Dani's spot. The little shack that we usually hung out in when it was too cold out or raining looked inviting so I made my way over to it. My breath was ragged from the running I'd just done so I sat down to try and calm myself. I'm sure the Jordisons are freaking about me leaving so quickly. Then I let my tears fall.
Lilly looked like she was about to vomit and very nervous. As the doctor started talking, she took off. It startled everyone but I did my best to reassure them she would be fine. Joey was insistant on looking for her, but his father stopped him. It seemed to irritate Joey a bit, but he settled down to hear the results. Once people had quieted down, the doctor went on.
The DNA test did in fact reveal that Lilianna was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jordison. They were very excited and hugged tightly. Even Joey was happy and hugging his parents. Corey walked up, firstly to congratulate Joey and their parents, and then to talk to me. I leaned into him and he wrapped his arm around my shoulder.
"Dani, where did she go? She needs to know this!" Joey begged
"Yes, we would love to take her back to Iowa with us!" Mr. Jordison exclaimed
"There's only one place she would go. As for going to Iowa, I'm not sure she'll want to. I can talk to her and do my best to convince her, if you want." I told them
"Please! We're going to go back to the hotel. Joey, if you'll call us a little later so we can make arrangements please." His mom stated
"Absolutely! Do you want us to take you back to the hotel?" He replied
"That's alright. You guys take Dani to wherever she needs to go to find our daughter." Mr. Jordison stated, smiling
Joey hugged his parents once more before the band and I left to go back to her house. When she first put locks on her bedroom door she gave me a copy of the keys so I knew we could get in. Joey seemed a bit distraught about his sister. Once everyone was settled, I offered them drink which most of them accepted. Showing Corey where all her DVD's were located as well as her ever-expanding CD collection, and then logging on to her guest account for those who may like to check emails and such, I told the group I was off to retrieve Lilly. Corey gave me his cell number so that I could get in contact with him should anything happen.
He kissed my cheek before I left. Lucky for us the losers who kidnapped my friend weren't home! Taking a deep breath, I started the short journey to our spot. She's gotta be having such conflicting feelings about the Jordisons. Would she consider relocating? Where exactly would she stay if she relocated? I know she'll be a bit hesitant about leaving her room after all the work and money she's put into it.
The path to our spot was hidden by trees and shrubs but we knew exactly where it was. Once you get past the thick trees and brush, our spot was actually a pretty peaceful place. There was this like 3-acre pond thath we often sit by when doing rituals and spells. Society hasn't discovered this place yet so the natural aura was still in tact, thankfully. She wasn't anywhere we'd normally be and I was about to give up. Until I remembered the little shack that we usually go to when it's too cold to sit on the ground or when it's raining.
"Lily? You here?" I called out after entering the small wooden shack
"Dani?!" She quietly responded
"Sweetie, I know you're filled with all sorts of strong emotions right now. But running away from it all isn't going to do anyone any good." I said, wrapping the sobbing woman in my arms
"Dani, I.... I can't. I can't do this." She said in between sobs
"Can't do what?" I questioned
"All of it. As shitty as my life is, I'm accustomed to it. This is the only life I know. When A happens I know how to handle it. When Z happens, I have a plan for it." She stated through her tears
"This is all just Ajustment Anxiety, sweetie." I told my oldest and closest friend
"You think so?" She sniffled
"Absolutely. You're a hell of a lot stronger than you think you are. If you could survive living in that house all these years, you can survive anything!" I said
"Perhaps you're right. I don't know if I can begin to accept what's happening until I get over the anger I'm feeling for Val and Gary." She confessed
"We can take care of that. Your parents want you to move to Des Moine." I replied
"I'm not too keen on that idea. But I think that's because I've been wired to hate Iowa due to what they did." She told me sighing
"If you're up for it, we can do several spells tonight to help you." I quietly stated
"Thanks. I'd appreciate that." She said, wiping her tear-streaked face
