It was summer in the town of Domino, and everyone was sitting at your place, too hot to move. They were all sipping lemonade and Yugi was dueling Joey, just for some fun.
“Oh, hey, that’s no fair!” you heard Joey whine when Yugi beats him for the fourth time that morning. No surprises.
“Hn. That mutt couldn’t duel his way out of a toothache” you cushion commented, taking a sip of his drink. Chuckling, you lightly elbow him in the ribs, grinning up and back at your long time friend and love, Seto Kaiba. Currently you were sitting on his lap in shorts and halter neck top that stopped at the end of your ribs. He was still wearing long black trousers, as usual, but with a white sleeveless top that had B.E.W.D typed on the back. A present from you.
“That’s not true, Seto. You know that he can duel perfectly well. This heat is melting everyone’s brains, even I’m struggling to stay focused” you told him, returning your gaze back to you laptop. You were trying to catch up on the reports that had been building up on you, but you were so hot and bothered, that you could barely concentrate. Not to mention that you had been working on them for the past week with few breaks pretty much non stop.
“You work too hard, sis. Seriously, I don’t know how you can even hold that thing in this heat” Jessica sighed, fanning herself with a very elegant hand held fan that Yami had given her for their one year anniversary.
“To be honest, neither do I” you sighed, shifting under the small computers heated weight.
Before you could go back to the work in front of you, a hand reached around you, shutting the lid and placing it on the table beside you.
“That’s enough, Destiny” Seto mumbled, placing his arm around you and leaning his head on your shoulder. You shuddered slightly as his skin brushed yours, but then squirmed, being too hot.
“I have to get this work done, though….” You said, reaching out to grab your laptop again. Before you could get it, it was snatched up by your baby sister and she ran inside to hide it, Mokuba on her heels.
“Oy!!” you snapped, jumping up to run after them, only to have Téa and Mai get in your path, “Oh, come on, girls!” you sighed, slumping your shoulders.
“Na ah, no way!” Téa said, giggling.
“Jessica’s right, you work too hard. Time to take a break!” Mai laughed, picking up a water jug that was on a table and chucking the contents at you. Now you were drenched.
“Ohhh, that does it! Water fight!!” you shouted, grabbing the hose and turning it on them. Unfortunately for Seto, Mai managed to grab one of the food trays and used it as a shield, redirecting the water in his direction and soaking him. Looking at him, you smirked, quite liking the sight.
“Bet I know what’s going through your mind” Jessica said, nudging you in the side. With a deep blush you growled at her to shut up.
“All this water around has given me an idea. How about a trip to the beach?!” Moi called from the upstairs window, waving your swimsuit around in mid air.
“A beach outing sounds great, but, Moi…” you said sweetly, “STOP WAVING THAT AROUND!!”
After lunch you were all at the beach. You had swung by to pick up Serenity, Tristan and, much to your great displeasure, Duke.
“SAND!! BEAUTIFUL SAND!! I’m home!!” Yami yelled, running onto the soft sand of the beach only to trip and fall face first into a dune. All of you just laughed as you watched his legs kick around in the air, wriggling to get free. Jessica went over and pulled him out, helping him to brush off.
“Take it easy there, lad, it ain’t goin’ anywhere” you laughed, picking up your towel and spreading it out. Turning around, you opened the boot of your car and let loose your Huskies, letting them run free. Chaos decided that he was going to try and catch seagulls, jumping in the air and snapping at their tail feathers. Chuckling, you grabbed the picnic basket and put by your things.
“So nice of you to bring me along, sweet stuff… Just couldn’t pass up a chance to see me again, huh?” Duke smooched, trying to place his arm around your shoulders. Seto was faster, thankfully, and got his arm there first, pulling you to him and out the way, so Duke fell in the sand.
“How many times do we have to tell to back off?” Jessica sighed, helping Mokie and Moi to build a sand castle.
Duke stood up and brushed himself off without a word, spying two girls at the other end of the beach and heading off in their direction.
“That got rid of him” Mai said, lying on a towel.
“Yeah, but I know one of those girls. Or rather, I know her father. He works for me at Chaos Corp, and he’s not one that likes the boys going after his precious one and only…” you mutter. Sure enough, the man came running down and grabbed his daughter and her friend by the arm, dragging them away from Duke while the elder brother gave him a good beating.
“I don’t whether to laugh or be concerned” Téa mused, watching Duke limp back.
“Will you never learn?” Yami asked him, standing behind Jess.
“Apparently not” Tristan laughed.
“Enough chit chat, it’s time for a little swimmin’!” Joey yelled, grabbing Serenity’s hand and heading to the water.
“Right behind you, buddy! Cannon ball!!” Tristan hollered as he jumped high in the air and went crashing back down into the water.
“Coming, Seto?” you asked, only to find he wasn’t by your side any more.
“Seto?”
Someone suddenly picked you up and ran into the water, diving into the deep while still holding you. You came up spluttering and unable to see due to your hair. Parting it like a curtain, you glared at the smirking face of your boyfriend, who was holding in a laugh.
“Not… funny” you huffed, swimming off. You didn’t get far, when a hand grabbed your ankle and pulled you under, and you saw the cheeky grinning face of Moi. Surfacing, you and she had a splash fight, screaming and laughing. Tristan decided that it would be fun to have a competition game, so the girls all ended up sitting on the guy’s shoulders, trying to knock each other off. You and Jess wound up being the victors. After that, you just swam around in the water peacefully for a while, going underwater and looking at the wonders of the sea bottom.
Up on shore, Yami was now yelling for help, asking for someone to save him from the humiliation. Looking up, you saw him buried to his chin in the sand, a very smug looking Jessica standing over him, dusting off her hands.
“Now that’s an interesting feature”
This gave you an idea and you smirked evilly, glaring back at the other men in the water. Using the power of your ring, you made six holes that couldn’t be seen by them. Walking to the other side of the line of traps, you opened the picnic basket and pulled out the packed lunches.
“Grubs up!!” you yelled at them. In one massive torrent, all of them came running, Seto included, unsuspecting of their fate. All at once, the guys fell in the holes, Moi easily jumping over them in the lead. With a snap of your fingers the holes filled with sand, and trapped all of them.
“WHAT?!”
“I never thought that you guys would be so gullible” Mai laughed.
“What’s the deal? Let us out of here!” Joey called while squirming.
“Come on, Moi, pleeeeeeeease??” Mokuba pleaded, with the cutest puppy dog look he could master. For a moment you thought of letting him go, but then your sister decided to start playing their heads like bongo drums, so you decided to leave her to her fun.
“Ow, quit it!” Duke growled.
“Shut up, Devlin” Moi said, so you laughed. More like you every day.
“Don’t you think this is a bit mean, Destiny?” Serenity enquired softly. She had an amused smile on her face, but she also looked a bit concerned.
“Oh, don’t worry, hun. I wont let them stay in there for long…”
“There’s something crawling around me…” he whined, looking worried. Next thing he was crying out in a lovely soprano, making the rest of you, even the other guys, look at him with mixed emotions. His eyes were wide and watery, and he was trying desperately to get free.
“What’s your problem now?” Téa asked, eyes wide.
Next thing you knew, Fenris and Whitefang had their noses to the ground in front of him, sniffing the ground and whining.
“Whatcha got there, boys?” Jessica asked them, patting Fenris’ head.
Whitefang started digging, going at lightning speed. As soon as the sand around him was loose enough, Dike sprang from the ground and started running around in circles, screaming for someone to get it off. For a while you were all still confused, but then you saw the cause of his discomfort. A large crab, hanging from between his legs, clinging by a death grip with is pincers.
“Oh, Devlin… You should feel loved; finally, someone wants to touch you how you want!” Seto laughed, managing to free himself, while Moi and the other girls dug out the others.
“Geez, I’ve got sand in places that it should not go!” Tristan complained, shaking his legs as he walked.
“I’ll say. It itches!” Joey howled. You couldn’t help it; you burst out laughing and fell over, rolling in the sand. Unfortunately, they were right; sand did get in everywhere. It was a tad uncomfortable.
“SISTER!! Let’s play volleybal!!” Moi hollered, jumping up on your back and hugging your neck. Mokuba, glomped you from the front, hugging you tightly, “Yeah, yeah, volleyball, volleyball!!” he cried.
“Ok, ok, young’un’s. Go grab the ball and net, and we’ll play” you said, prying them off.
“I bags being on Destiny’s team!” Mai called, wrapping an arm around your shoulders.
“Let’s make it girls VS guys!” Jessica suggested, clapping her hands together.
“Ok, but you’re going to regret this!” Yugi joked.
The game went well, it was 5 equal to each teams, and you had just spiked the ball a beauty at Duke, hitting him square in the face. Unfortunately the glee of the hit was cut short when the ball landed on Yami’s head and burst on his hair.
“Good grief, lad. I didn’t know that your hair was that solid!” you chocked, picking up the pathetic remains of the ball, which was now only useful as a hat.
“I think that signals the end of our volleyball game…” Jessica sighed.
Time went by. You had all played your game, the girls winning over the guys 10 to 5. The game had ended when Mai had hit the ball too hard and smashed Joey on the head, knocking him out. Then Seto had decided that he would chase you half way down the beach, after you chased Chaos, trying to get him to drop the seagull he had successfully captured. Now the sun was setting and you were all back at your place, sitting on the roof to watch the sun go down, feeling relaxed and happy. Jessica was cuddled up with Yami, her two Egyptian Mao’s curled on their laps, while Yami held her close with a smile. You had your Sibies around you, while you once again sat on Seto’s lap and leant back into him. Mokuba and Moi were lying on their stomachs, playing a game of chess.
“This was a great day. I like how we can still find time to do stuff like this, even though so many of us are so busy all the time, running companies, and saving the world” Jessica sighed.
“Aye. I can’t think of a better place to be right now…” you agreed, tilting your head back to kiss Seto on the cheek. His reaction was to hold you in even tighter and rest his head on your shoulder.
“What are we going to do next? You know, all of us together?” Serenity asked.
“I don’t know. But whatever we do, I bet it’ll be just as fun and crazy as it always is”
