I was messing around with the dog, i just happened to look at the clock '12:30' when i heard someone knock on the door. I looked up and i could barley see who was out there.

"Is anyone gonna get that!?" i yelled so if anyone was in the house they would hear me

"guess not" i mumbled to myself as i got up. I opened the door and i was surprised to see Tommy.

"Hey!" i yelled as i gave him a big hug

"hey, he said" and kissed me on the cheek and walked in

"What are you doing here?" i asked as i shut the door

"I cant get in touch with anyone, my phone doesn't have a signal anywhere-" he said as he walked into my dining room

that doesn't really answer my question dude "Oh" i said confused

"They let me out of work early because we don't have enough gas to power the generators-"

i was just listening to him in awe. i think hes gone loopy.

"Police radios don't work" he said as he starred at me

oh wow. i guess the power outage didn't just affect our community

"As far as i know, this whole power outage effected the whole southern part of the united states"

I saw my mom out of the corner of my eye looking at me and tommy...she looked as confused as me

"Mom, is dad home from work yet?" i asked my mom as she started to walk towards us

"Not yet" my mom said looking at tommy

"When did you hear about this?" my mom asked

"When i was leaving my job, i over heard people talking about it" tommy said

i honestly don't know whats going on, i just hope Ashley's ok. So many things were going through my head. I heard the back door open, and my mom and tommy looked, my dad was home. My mom walked over to him. I just looked at tommy

"Lets go in the front" i said to tommy as i started heading out the door

it was so fucking hot out. i wish it was winter. yeah, i always wanted a winter birthday..but no i had to be born in July.

"I wonder if this happened to NY" i said more to myself then to Tommy

I started thinking about my aunt and the baby in NY, and my friends and stuff. Blah i wish my phone worked

"It might have" tommy said as he kicked a rock into the bushes

"My mom looked pretty freaked out, i wonder if my dad heard anything" i said looking at my hands

i could hear my brothers in the pool, friggen loud asses.

"Oh, happy birthday sunshine" tommy said

i looked up and smiled

"thank you!" i said and he gave me a kiss

"What the fuck are you two doing?" i heard someone say

i stopped kissing him and looked at the person talking to me

"Shut up you dork" i said to ryan, who was walking up my driveway

"sheesh, no 'hey ryan'"

"Hey ryan" i said and gave him a hug

"haha, happy birthday!" he said and punched my arm

Ryan's my neighbor, he lives a little down the road from me. We always hangout, i knew him when we lived in NY too, we dated a few times...but that never really worked out

"Does the water slide on your pool still work" ryan asked as he tried to look around the house to see the pool

"Yeah, i would think so....you just need to dump a bucket of water on it" i said walking towards him
"Why do you want to swim?"

"Yeah!" ryan said running towards the pool

Me and tommy followed, it was so quiet back there without the filter being on. Ryan already had his baithing suit on, and did a cannon ball into the pool

"I'll be right back, i have to put my suit on" i said as i started walking up the stairs to the deck

Tommy followed me into the house. My mom and dad were in the kitchen talking to each other, me and tommy walked passed the, i over heard my mom say something about a 'solar flare, or atleast thats what i think she said.
