Joe's POV
I rolled over and grabbed my vibrating cell phone from the counter. It was a text from my current or should I say soon to be ex-girlfriend. I was so tired of her trying to change me and all she did was use me. She is dating me for the attention you get when you date a celebrity. She didn't like who I was she only liked that I was famous. I was so tired of girls who only liked me because I was Joe Jonas from the Jonas Brothers. The one's who didn't like my personality just my money. I opened the text. It read:
Joey for the premire you are taking me tonight please don't wear your skinny jeans like last time. Dress nicely. Oh yeah and I have to bring my cousin. -Marissa
I sighed. See what I mean? Always trying to change what made me, me. I just wanted to meet someone who had absolutly no idea who I was and then they would like me for who I really am, not just my image.
Nina's POV
I sighed as Marissa through two more dresses at me. I was going to some huge premiere party with a band I didn't even know because my cousin is dating one of them. My parents thought it would be a great idea if I spent some quality time with my evil cousin so here I am in Jersey over my spring break when I could be on the beach checking out hot guys with my best friends.
"Now try on the dresses." Marissa said.
I tried on at least 20 before Marissa approved one.
This is what it looks like:
"That one's perfect. Let's buy it." Marissa said as she shoved me back into the dressing room to take it off.
I looked at myself in the mirror. The dress really brought out my eyes which were a few shades lighter than the dress. It wasn't too girly which was a plus and it fit me perfect. I really liked it.
"Here." I said handing the dress back to her after I took it off.
After we paid for the dress Marissa drove us home to get ready for the premeire. In all honesty I really didn't want to go to this thing. It was stupid in my opinion. I didn't even know this band so why should I have to go to this premiere? From what Marissa told me they were these huge rockstars that were really popular. I wasn't one for people with big heads and bad attitudes so I defintally didn't want to hang out with three boys who were supposed to be like that.

"Okay well the boys are just going to meet us there so lets go." Marissa said after she finished her make-up.
I sighed and got up from the bed. I brushed the non-exsistant wrinkles in my dress as Marissa walked down the stairs.
After a long and silent drive we had finally made it the premiere.
"Okay lets go." She said opening her door.
We walked into this huge building after showing the security our guest passes. And of course Marissa ditched me to go find her beloved rockstar boyfriend. I just kind of stood there awkwardly not knowing anyone here and I mean come on these typesof parties weren't my thing.
I sighed to myself and crossed my arms thinking of ways to get back at my cousin for dragging me to this stupid thing.
I was pulled out of my thoughts when someone bumped into me.
"Oh I'm sorry." We both said in unison.
I turned around to see a really hot guy about my age. He had black shaggy hair and hazel eyes. I blushed at how I just managed to embarrass myself without even trying.
"I'm Joe, but you probably already knew that." He said sticking out his hand.
"Nina. And why would I already know that?" I asked as I hesitantly took his hand.
"You don't know who I am?" He asked suprised.
"No... Should I?" I said confused.
"Um... No I mean we just met here. I'm nobody special." He said quickly.
"Oh okay?" I said more like a question rather than a statement.
"So who are you here with?" He asked pointing to my guest badge that hung from my neck.
"Oh yeah. My cousin but she is here with her boyfriend and his band. There like the Jonas Brothers or something like that. I wasn't really listening to her. It isn't like Marissa says anything important anyways." I said rambling on probably venting the fact that I didn't want to be here.
He flushed a little but quickly bounced back.
"Oh. That's uh... That's really cool." He said scratching the back of his neck awkwardly.
After that we had small talk. He was the funniest guy I had ever met. He was also the most down to earth person ever, so genuine and nice.
"So do you want to go for a walk?" He asked pointing to the door.
"Sure. But first do you know where the bathroom is?" I said.
"In that direction. I'll meet you outside." He said pointing behind us.
"Thanks." I said before walking off.
Joe's POV
After Nina walked into the bathroom I started to look around frantically for Marissa. I needed to find her and break it off like I planned to. I found her talking to Demi and Selena.
"Hey Marissa can I talk to you?" I asked pulling on her arm.
"Oh hey Joey where have you been?" She asked giving Selena and Demi a one minute gesture.
"Um... Around but listen I don't really think this is working."I said nervously.
"What isn't working?" She said confused.
"Us." I said flatly.
"Are you breaking up with me?" She asked crossing her arms.
"Yeah. Come on Marissa you never liked me you only liked that I was famous. We both know that." I said firmly.
"You know what you're right. I never really liked you." She said trying to make me feel bad.
"Some how I think I'll live." I said thinking about Nina.
She was everything that I was looking for and she didn't even know that I was Joe Jonas. She liked me for me and I was already developing a crush on her. I didn't care if she was Marissa's cousin. I was going to chase her because you only meet a girl like her once in your life and I wasn't going to be stupid and pass up the opportunity to be with the girl of my dreams. I walked away from Marissa in the middle of her sentence leaving her more angry than before.
"Hey!" I said as I met up with Nina again.
"Hey!" She said with a gorgeous smile.
Everything about her was perfect. Her dirty blond hair fell at her shoulders effortlessly and shined. I found myself lost in her blue eyes. They were so amazing.
"What?" She asked noticed me staring.
"You're really beautiful." I said bluntly making her already rosey cheek's flush.
"Thanks." She said softly.
We walked to starbucks and I bought her a hot chocolate. We sat down and talked some more and every second I was with her I felt myself fall for her even more. She didn't need to know that I was Joe Jonas to be able to listen and she really listened, not the fake listening that Marissa did.
My cell phone rang cutting me off.
"Hold on." I said as she nodded and I pressed that talk button.
"Hey Nick, what's up man?" I said into the phone.
"Dude where are you? We are about to go on in like ten minutes." He said frantically.
Typical Nick. Always stressing.
"Okay just chill I'll be there in a minute." I said hanging up.
"Hey Nina we have to get back to the party." I said standing up.
"Why?" She said confused.
"I'll explain later." I said grabbing her hand.

"I'll be back." I said letting go of Nina's hand.
Yes we held hands the whole way here. I was very happy about that.
"There you are!" Nick said as he stopped pacing.
"Yeah listen guys. I know we were supposed to do Play My Music but could we do I Am What I Am?" I said as Kevin walked in.
"Why?" Nick asked.
"Well I've been feeling like everyone was trying to change me. Especially Marissa and I just want to make a statement." I said.
"Sure man." Kevin said putting a reasurring hand on my shoulder.
"Okay let me just go tell the band." Nick said turning around.

"Please welcome the Jonas Brothers!"
"Hey guys! I'm Nick!" He said into the microphone.
"I'm Kevin."
"And I'm Joe." I said searching the croud for Nina.
I spotted her in the back.
"We are going to play an old song. It is called I Am What I Am. I want to dedicate it to Nina who showed me that who I am was enough and that I don't need to change who I am to fit in or have a girlfriend." I said before the music started.

"Thanks guys!" I said before walking off of the stage.
Nina met me when I came from backstage.
"You're Joe Jonas? My cousin's boyfriend?" She said.
"Your cousin's ex-boyfriend." I corrected.
"Why didn't you tell me?" She asked kind of hurt.
"Listen Nina. Your cousin used me. I just wanted to meet a girl who didn't know who I was and that wouldn't use me. I wanted to meet someone who got to know me for who I was not my image. I wanted to find someone like you and I did. I wasn't about to pass up the opportunity. And you seemed like the type of person who wouldn't talk to me because I was famous." I said softly.
"You're probably right." She said with a smile.
"So your not mad at me?" I asked looking into her gorgeous eyes.
"Nope. You just showed me that your worth my time and that you're not some stuck up Rockstar." She said with a shy smile.
"Good." I said taking her hand in mine.
"So..." She said awkwardly.
I smirked and interlaced our fingers.
"Nina?" I asked pulling her a little closer to me.
Our faces were inches apart and she was breathing heavily.
"Will you be my girlfriend?" I said as I hovered my lips just above hers.
"Sure." She said as her hot breath hit my lips sending tingles everywhere.
"Good answer." I said before leaning in and placing my lips on hers.
I smiled into the kiss and cupped her beautiful face in my hands.
I had finally found a girl who liked who I was and didn't want me to be anyone else...
