"Early are we,Yoji-san?"
I looked up from my favorite novel,Twilight by Stephenie Meyers,to see Oriska-sensei at the doorway.I acknowledged her with a curt smile and returned to my book.I was just getting to the part where Bella Swan was rescued from being squished between two vehicles.Lucky her,Edward Cullen was the fastest of the vampire family.Huh,I wonder how the book would've been if her number did go up like Edward said it would.......boring,that's how.
"Another vampire story,Yoji-san?That has to be your fourth one this month."
I nodded insilentagreement.Why do teachers always have to be up their students' asses?I never really understood Oriska-sensei'suneeded kindness.It might be because she's the old woman of theschool staff.She smiles too muchin my opinion.I heard her shuffle to her desk and sit down,like every teacher does.
She sighed."Why do you always stay so silent,Yoji-san?I worry sometimes..."

I would say "No worries here,so why should you?," but I was too engrossed in the book in my hands to respond.Truthfully,I never was a talker in class.It never mattered if I spoke or not as long as I kept my grades up....Which really is not a problem with my hidden I.Q. levels.So I'm set until I die.My being to school early only happened because I forgot school started two hours later today....that and the stupid daylight savings.....

"Am I early?"
It was a male's voice at the doorway that had me look away from my book this time.It was no one I knew in this school,but he was around my age.He had spiky blonde hair that had me wondering if he actually brushes it.Blue saphire eyes that scanned the boy's surroundings.His clothing was what intrigued me most.The kid wore a black T-shirt under a white short-sleeved vest.An interesting 'X' shape peice of metal hung ontop of his shirt.Dark gray pants that were covered with a white over pant-leg thing....nice.Black and white wristband and two rings.Nice theme,dude.

"And you are,young sir?"
"Roxas.I was enrolled yesterday."
Roxas...now that's a foreign name,I'm sure of it.Oriska-sensei flipped through some papers on her desk,eventually producing a student record file.Putting on her half-moon glasses,she peered into the manilla parchmentfor the information to confirm Roxas' transfer.
"Ah,here you are Roxas Kurai-san.I hope you have a nice time in my homeroom and if anyone starts to cause trouble for you,go to the principle or Yoji-san here.She's the head in the school's kendo club and founder oftheDisiplinary Gang.Right,Yoji-san?"
"Hn." was all I did to respond as I went back to the book's business.
"All right.Thanks Oriska-sensei,"
Kurai?That means 'dark,' and there's nothing 'dark' about this 14 year old boy.
I heard light footsteps coming towards me and the scraping sound of the desk chair beside mine being scooted back.This kid has some nerve,that's my best friend Ritsuko's seat.Oh well,I'll let her deal with it when she gets here.

"Umm...Ohayo.My name's Roxas Kurai,"the blonde beside me introduced himself and left his hand in mid-air for me to shake it.
"Kai-lynn Yoji.Pleasure to meet you."
Ah,I love my crudebluntness,it serves me well.Roxas sighed in defeat and turned his attention to his binder,fiddling with the zippers like a child.
"Is that Twilight?Where some girl from Arizona moves to Washington and meets a vampire?" he spoke out of the blue.
Wow,a guy reads a girl teen's romance novel...is he gay?

"Mmhm," I responded,ignoring the fact of genders and dropping my book alittle,"You read American novels?"
His deep blue eyes sparkled with victory at getting my attention as he nodded.Something about this kid was a little...off.Sure he appeared as a normal teenage boy....I don't know,maybe it's his personality.Not that many people brave on this kind of attitude around here....
"Yeah,I came from America to live here with my dad.I'm half-Japanese,half-American.My mom's from California."
Interesting.It's a good story for any human being...ah,I'm just being paranoid!Nothing could possibly be wrong with this kid.
'Kira?What do you think?' I opened an internal link to the stone around my neck.
'Beats me,Kai-san.It might just be because he's from another place for all we know.' the periwinkle girl in the stone responded.
"I see." I commented about his life story and returned to my precious book.
Now a few students were walking into the classroom,one of them being my best friend I mentioned.Ritsuko Kiyo.
"Ohayo,Kai-san!!!!Ogenki desu?" she's always the sugar nut of my small social network.
Her bright hazel scrutinized me and the strange boy in her seat.She was wearing the usual bright orange tank-top over a black long-sleeved shirt and faded blue jeans.A peach cat-cap covered her unruly short blonde hair.One thing you NEVER do around her....take her seat.If I'm not around,you may not live to tell the tale.But nine outta ten,if I am around,and I don't like you...yeah,start running.
"Excuse me--" She began whatwould most likely be the end of poor Roxas,but I interjected.
"Ritsuko...leave him be,he's new.Roxas Kurai this is my friend,Ritsuko Kiyo.Ritsuko,Roxas,"without looking away fromthe book's page,I managed to leave Ritsuko speechless and the rest of the student's staring at me.
"All....right,Kai-san." my wide-eyed friend said,sheturned to meet Roxas' gaze,"You've just been saved,Kurai."
I sighed inwardly as Ritsuko took the seat to my left.I felt thestudents in the classroom look at me.Yeah,it's been awhile since I actually stuck up to the Ritsuko Kiyo.But they and she will have to get over it.When every seat was filled,Oriska-sensei stood up in the front ofthe classroom.
"Ohayo kodomo.Today we have a new student joining this amazing class.Would you please stand,dear?"She announced,gesturing to Roxas.
"Sure,"obidiently,he stood from his seat."My name is Roxas Kurai and I just moved here from out of the country."
With that,he sat back down.
"Okay.Yoji-san?Will youplease show Kurai-san around the school after class?I will excuse you from your classes." the old woman asked in a polite tone.
"Hai." was all Isaid before tuning out the woman completley.

"Here's the Gym,that seems to be your fifth period class." Isaid to Roxas when we passed thegym and glancing at his schedule.
It was our lunch period now and I was showing the new kid around to his classes.It was like this with every transfers this school gets.One of the Disiplinary Commitee members got a pass and did a tour for the kid.The Gym is a building outside the actual school,so we had to walk outside to see it.
"Huh,we have Gym together,too." I noticed,comparing his and my schedules.
"That's weird.Does that happen alot?"he asked with innocence.
I shook my head."Iie.That is very strange."
"Where's the biology lab?" He questioned suddenly,looking over his classes.
I raised and eye brow,but pointed to a small building excluded from the main school structure.
"There.That's your fourth period,right after lunch."
"Oi,Yoji-san?What is that?"
"Hm?" I hummed in confusion,looking to where he was pointing.
Then my optics widened in alarm.
Across the school yard,by the the science lab,were little black creatures.They scurried back and forth jerkedly,as if looking for something...
Heartless...
My breath hitched up to my throat and I felt the blood rush out from my face.What are those sick buggers doing here?!The only ones out here are me and Roxas.I only get chased at night,so it can't be me their looking for.My blue eyes darted between the boy next to me and the dark mass collecting at the science lab.

'Is it him..?'
I didn't know what to do.But I had to get the new kid out of here.He can't be here,they shouldn't be here.What the hell was I doing?!I gotta get over there and kick some Heartless ass!!
"Roxas,I need you---WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING?!?!?!?!KURAI!"I was about to tell Roxas to warn the principle of the intruders,but stopped short when I saw a blur of blonde and white going towards the Heartless.
Being who I am and getting too angry for my own well-fare,I ran after the idiotic boy.Empty-handedand defence-less, what is he thinking?!?!Does he not know how dangerous these things are?!
"ROXAS!" I called after him when he stopped at the foot of the dark creatures.
He was going to get himself killed!Shimatta!
"Look out you idiot!"I exclaimed as I tackled the teen to the ground,sparing him from a Shadow's attack.
I got up,pulling Roxas with me,just in time to be swiped by a Large Body by its huge sumo-gut.Both of us collided with the brick of the science building's wall.
"Why'd you ran TO them you idiot?!?" I groaned as I stood up straight and looked at the number of Heartless.
Shit.Why today of all days to be attacked by things of the dark?!I glanced at the boy beside me.He didn't look frightened at all.Instead,the blonde look quite determined for some reason.But why?

"Do you have a weapon,Yoji-san?"
I turned my attention from the swarming Heartless to the idiot that got us into this mess.Shock and mock confusion was present in my eyes.I looked into Roxas' sea blue orbs for some meaning behind what he said.Then I saw the Neo-Shadows coming out of the wall we were thrown against. Then I saw the Neo-Shadows coming out of the wall we were thrown against.One was about to pop outand biteus,but I back-handed the creature into oblivion.No longer was I gonna just sit around!
"Question is,my friend,can you fight?" I asked,proving my point by punching a Sky Pirate in theface.
Roxas smirked in confidence and kicked a Shadow thatwas about to pounce on me.I smiled sheepishly in thanks and went off to take care of a noisy Fat Bandit Heartless.It was gonna spew fire at the science buildingif I didn't swipe it across the face with my foot.
"Yo!Ready to get sent to Oblivion?" I non-chantely asked the mindless being before taking out a large pocket knife and stabbing it in the eye.
"Nice,Yoji-san." Roxas commented while dodging a fire ball from a Red Nocturne.He was using a stick to defend himself andattack.
I scowled,that wasn't going to cutit.In my distraction,a Gargoyle swooped down andgrabbedmy upper arms.
"SHIT!"I cursed when I noticed my mistake.
"Yoji-san!" I heard Roxasyell from below.
Whoa,all the world is swirling!!!(@@'')I wasn't vertigo or anything,it's just that the Gargoyle that captured meflieslike a maniac.I think I'mgonna puke!
All of a sudden,something sliced through the air and struck the Heartless,releasing me from theair-bourne rollor coaster.But then,before I could figure out what hit the maniac flyer,I was facedwith the problem of falling.Yeah,falling into a mass of blood-thirsty Heartless from quite a height.Mmm,I'd say about 50ft?
"Yoji-san!Hold on!"I heard the blonde below over the rushing wind.
'Hold on?!To what,you numb skull?!?!' I mentally shouted at the foolish boy.
I closed my eyes,awaiting the impact of claws,paws,and who knows what else.Any second now,any second now!
But what do you know?Someone caught me before I slam-dunked into the ground.My purple optics snapped open to see Roxas's bright blue eyes.They were filled with excitment and victory at his catch.
"Gotcha!" he stated,putting me down on solid ground.
I wobbled some,falling makes one's head fuzzy.But I straightened up in time to be knocked to the side by a Defender Heartless.We were thrown back against the science building's wall,which a sickening crack was heard from my skull.I groaned in utter pain.Shit,that hurt!
"Are you alright,Yoji-san?!" myears were ringing,but I think that's what he said.
Everything was so blurry,and my head felt like it was going to explode.Guess I got cracked pretty hard,ne?Through the blur,I saw the blonde hair of Roxas and the dark figures of the Heartless closing in on us.I was being shakedat the shoulders by the boy infront of me.I saw his lips move,but I couldn't hear anything above the massive ringing.Finally,the shaking stopped and Roxas away from my crumpled figure.
What was he doing?I couldn't really tell from the blur,but it looked like he was taking a wide fighting stance with his hands open to his sides.There was a flash,and then someting was in the teen's hands.
Was that a sword?!?!
One wasright infront of me.It was white and somehow very familiar to me.It looked like asword a friend of minehas.What did he call it?

'The Oathkeeper..' was the last thought I had before everything turned black.
