Chapter 9 : Three Ring Circus [ TDK's Joker ] .8.
Jon sat at the kitchen table, pinching the bridge of his nose between thumb and forefinger. I sat across from him, looking at him through heavily lidded eyes. Joker and some of his boys were watching a comedian on TV. Joker was in hysterics, letting out a racous crow of laughter every few seconds. Right now, I found that laugh very disturbing. It rang in my ears and made my arms break out in goose flesh. Dizzle's red plaid hoodie was wrapped around my frame, my arms tucked into the too-big-for-me sleeves. I wore a tight black shirt that had bones on it. The bones corresponded with the ones in my body. The two almost overlapped each other. I liked it that way, because I found it cool.
Even though no one else did.
God, I'm such a dork.
The golden sunlight that filtered through the curtains reminded me of honey, and I sat staring at it, half-listening to Jon. He was chewing out Dizzle.
"Yes, I understand that you think you're in love, but you need to check in with me." Jon said exasperatedly.
"You're what?"
Dizzle's muffled voice mumbled something from the other end of the line. I caught the words 'living' and 'Chelsea'. Now, I was intrigued. Dizzle hadn't stayed in the house for more than 5 minutes at a time. I shifted so I was sitting on my knees, leaning forward on to my folded arms. I fluttered mylashes at Jon ininterest. He waved me away dismissively with a wave of his hand. Hegave me a look that said'Get out', so I got up dejectedly, andjoined Jay and the others on the couch.
"Heeey." Jay said, his mouth quirking upwards in acocky smirk. Heshoved Chuckles away, freeing up a miniscule amount of space for me.
"Are youkidding? My ass can't fit in that." I said, pointing at the empty space.
Chuckles looked confusedly back at andforth between me and Joker.
"Scoot back over Chuckles." I said, making a gesture with my hands, as if I was squishing something between them. Joker sighed a pouty sigh. Chuckles scooted over.
"..Closer." I said.
"Uh." Chucklesmuttered, shimming closer to the Joker.
Their legs were now touching.
I gave them the thumbs up. "Perfect."
I turned around, and plopped my ass down on their legs. I put arms around theirshoulders.
"Sup?" I said, grinning.
"Why are you making me share?" Joker wined, laying his head on my chest.
"Pfft,who said I was makingyou?" I said.
"Oh, really? Great."His arms wrapped around my waist and gave a sharp tug backwards.I was dragged on to hislap, and I yawned, laying my head back on hischest. Chuckles scooted as faraway as he could. I seemed to makeall of Joker'scronies uncomfortable. I liked it.

Jon walked into the room, lookingrather dejected. His shoulders were slumped, his hands shoved into the pockets of hisjeans.
"Dizzle'srunning off withhis girlfriend,"he announced quietly.
"..WHAT?!" I yelled, springing forward.Recoil hit me, because Joker wasstill clinging on to my waist.
"But, he can't..."
"He can. He just did. They'rein New Jersey right now, they're headin' west." Jon said.
I realized how oldJon looked. His eyebrows formed a tight line, brow heavily furrowed. I noticed the laugh lines and crow's feet around his eyes.I remember howtheycrinkled pleasantly when he laughed. A deep frown creased his features. Ipryed Joker's hands from my waist and got up, placing a comforting arm around Jon's shoulders. Joker had remained surprisingly quiet.
"Hm. That's a bummer." Joker mumbled, looking blanklyinto space.
"What time is it?" Joker asked, looking up at us.
I glanced at theclock. "Uh, 9:30, Jo."
"I say we move into our new digs now." Jokerannounced. He stood up and pivoted on his foot, headingtowards the door.
Jon shook hishead and rolled his shoulders. "You heard the boss."
He shook off my arm and stood, stretching. "You gonnabe okay?" I asked, standing.
"I'll be fine." Jon said.
I could tell he was lying.
We all piled into the van. I was squished between the Jokerand Chuckles again. Joker had a hand resting on my thigh. So far, our relationship was still as friends. We were just always flirting up a storm. I wondered whenoneof us was going to act onour feelings.
We drovefor what seemed like hours, though in all reality it wasprobably more like 45 minutes. We pulled up toa nice looking building in a sparselypopulatedpart of Gotham.
"Home sweet home." Joker said, pulling the key out of the ignition.
The building's exterior was black. There were a couple of windows, cream curtainsdrawn.
On the porch, there was a man waiting for us. We all got out, Joker yelling a greeting to the man. "Crane! A pleasuredoing business with you."He said this rather cheerily, but I could hear the snarl hidden behind it.The man looked up, his brow creased. His face was angular, with high cheek bones that stood out on histhin face. Watery brown eyes stared out, a shock of neatly trimmed auburn hair on his head.
"Here." he said contemptuously.Crane dropped a pair of keys into the Joker's hand.
"Thanks." He said, grinning.
The man stormed off.
"We'll be in touch, Crane."Joker called. The man shot a glare back over his shoulder.
Jokerhad opened the door. The carpet was plush and black, the wallspainted with veritcal black and gray stripes. Joker took us on a tour, and showed everyone their respective rooms. After all was said and done, I still didn't have a room.
"Uh, what about me?" I voiced my concerns.
"Hmm?" Joker said, a gleefulgrinon his face.
"..I don't have a room?" I said,quirking an eyebrow.
"Why, you're gonna sleep with me." Jay grinned mischieviously.
I groaned.
