Chapter 2 : Haunted: A Ghost Hunters Story [Three]

I'm enjoying this, the thing is, I made it interesting in the next chapters to come. Some of it will be rated R, so I figured I'd warn.

Recap:

"We have to wait for Tango." Steve said. He sat next to me as Brian got out of his car. Soon, Tango pulled up with a duffle bag.

Start:

"Now we're all set to go." Jason said. Grant and Jay are always in the same vehicle together. Normally it's Tango and Steve, but now that I was part of TAPS, I'd be with Steve. We all hopped into our respective SUV's; Jason and Grant in the lead, Steve and I behind them, and then Brian and Tango last.

"So, where exactly are we going?" I asked as he drove onto the highway.

"The Black Diamond Mines. Many people died in there, around there, even in the cemetery. Some people hearing yelling as if the spirits are still hard at work, and they hear the shovels and tools just working away. In the cemetery, a lady weeps at a certain gravestone. Even weirder is that a woman, Sarah Norton, was crushed under a buggy in the mining town about two minutes down the road from the mines. So we're spending a couple nights there. I can't wait to hear what you see." Steve concluded.

Yikes. I could wait. Of course, I'd need someone to go with me. Sometimes I end the night in hysterics or a nervous breakdown; I need someone near me to keep me calm. Seeing ghosts, both evil and good, really leave an impact on you as you go on. The constant touch of a warm body always reassures me and sometimes blurs my vision enough for me to keep my bearings. If I'm lucky, Grant might be there; he emits reassurance.

He's always with Jay though. Jason isn't the one who sees dead people. I do. Do you know what it's like to turn around and see a red-eyed mist coming at you with a knife? Oh yeah, I've been run through by a ghost before, but they didn't have enough strength to push it in very deep. That was way before I met Jay and Grant though.

"Let me see your walkie." I put my hand out for Steve to place it in.

He laughed, probably thinking it sounded rather dirty, and handed it over.

"GW?" I called.

"What's up Avery?" Good, I'm glad he answered.

"Am I going to be with Steve the whole night, or am I going with you?"

"Tango and me. Hopefully Tango knows what to do with you." I heard him chuckle into the walkie.

"For his sake, I do too."

"Are you guys talking about me?" Tango's voice came over and I couldn't help but laugh.

"I'll tell you later." I gave Steve the walkie and shifted in my seat. "I'm forced into sharing a room with you, right?" I asked rhetorically, but received an answer anyways.

"Yes. You should probably be with Grant though; we're staying over night at the hotel. I tried telling him that, but I don't think he trusts himself around you. He's got a man crush on you, Avery." Steve said, almost unwillingly.

"What…?" I got myself to say.

"I hope you guys know that you held the button down when you said that." Jason's voice rang over the walkie talkie.

"Did he hear?" Steve asked. No response afterwards. Steve and I looked at each other. "That's not good."

"No, it is not," I grabbed the walkie from him, "G? Did you hear the little angel on your shoulder?" Still no reply. So I yelled into the walkie, "JERK!" In my fit of rage, I shut it off and threw it in the back.

"Now you need to get it." Steve said, looking at me long enough to show his amusement. I was able to glare at him before I unbuckled, going into the back to grab the walkie. "By the way, you have a nice butt."

"I bet yours is way nicer, Stevie." I teased, sitting back down.
