It was almost an hour and a half later when someone knocked on my office door so I went over and opened it slowly to see Jason standing in it. I bit down on my lip and looked over at Layla who was sleeping on a leather couch.
He followed my gaze and whispered, "Can I talk to you, just for a second?"
"Sure," I said, gesturing for him to come in. I closed the door behind him and turned around. He looked at me and waved for me to follow him as he headed towards the bathroom. I followed after him and we went into the bathroom, closing the door.
"Okay," He started. "I'm not trying to be creepy or anything, but you look really familiar to me and I was just wondering, is your name really Halley?"
"No." I said.
"So it is you?" He asked, smiling. "Hayley!?"
"Jason, don't tell anyone." I begged him as he came forward and hugged me. "Please."
"I won't." He hugged me tighter and lifted me off the ground for a couple of seconds. "I've missed my best friend so much!"
I laughed. "I've missed you too."
"So, uh," Jason pulled away. "Who's little girl is that?"
"Mine. Her name is Layla Janelle."
"She's yours? Are you married now?"
"No. I don't even have a boyfriend."
"Oh, good. Craig would die. She's adorable though."
"No, he wouldn't. Because you aren't going to say anything about me. And thanks."
"Oh, Yeah... Right." He smiled. "I'm not."
I nodded. "How long are you guys in town?"
"A week."
"Oh. Are you on tour or something?"
"Yeah, that's why we're leaving in a week. That's when we start."
"Oh, cool." I looked down at my shoes. "Did any of the other guys recognize me?"
"No, I don't think so. They didn't say anything."
"Oh, okay."
"I can't tell them either, can I?" He asked.
"No, please don't."
"Okay. But why?"
"Because I don't want Craig to know who I am."
"He misses you, Hales." Jason said. "And he still doesn't understand why you left the day before the wedding without saying anything."
I sighed.
"Why did you leave, exactly?"
"Because I was pregnant and you guys were going on tour two weeks after the wedding. I didn't want him to be mad."
"Why would he be mad?"
"I don't know."
"Well, It's nice to see you again. Finally." He smiled and hugged me again. "I missed you a lot. Well, we all did, actually. But I think Craig missed you the most."
"I missed you guys too." I said, ignoring the last part of what he said. "Where are you supposed to be right now?"
"I just told the guys I'd be right back." He laughed. "Then I asked some tall redhead if she knew where Hayley Martin's office was."
"So you knew it was me before I even told you?"
"I knew it the moment you walked into the other room." He laughed. "I've known you since you were four. You could shave your head and gain a hundred pounds and I bet I'd still recognize you."
I laughed and hugged him again. "Oh, I missed you."
He patted my back. "Can I have your number? Just so I can keep in touch with you and make sure you're alright? I'll put you under as Halley Isabadass incase any of the guys go through my phone."
"Okay. Wait, Isabadass?"
"Yeah. Is-a-bad-ass." He laughed.
"Oh, I see." I smiled, and then told it to him once he pulled his phone out.
"Sweet." He smiled. "I better go. I'll call you later tonight though, okay? I promise. Byebye, bestest friend."
"Bye." I laughed. He hugged me once more and then walked out of the bathroom and out of my office all together. I sighed and sat down on the couch next to where Layla was still fast asleep.
