Sorry About The Mix Up, Sweetie (Vampire Story) Chap. 15
Chapter 3 : Sorry About The Mix Up, Sweetie (Vampire Story) Chap. 21
It took me 4 times to open my locker later that morning only to realize I'd gone to the wrong one, I stood in the lunch line to hear more people bragging about the MCR concert(bad luck because I couldn't avoid it!), I walked into the only stall in the bathroom that was unoccupied to find a floater, I spilt my orange juice all over my white sleeved sweater(which is my favorite I might add!) and I got a 63% on my Biology Unit Test, the one that I thought I was for sure going to get at least an 80%! If that's not bad luck, then I'm screwed for when itdoescome!
Ealdwine seemed to be avoiding me all day too, which was also lame. Maybe he didn't want me to blame him for any trouble he might cause, just to spite me for my bad luck! If not bad luck, buddy, it's karma! I'm prone to these things. If there's a God out there, he mustreallylike to watch me suffer!
"So.. I think I might be able to find someone for you to get an extra ticket." Hayleigh says later that day in between classes.
I thought about it for a moment. "No, that's okay, but thanks. I don't have any money to pay them back anyways. I'm sorry I got so mad. I was just frustrated with myself, that's all."
"I know. Don’t worry, I'm used to seeing you mad." She laughs. I shrug as we walk beside each other.
"Besides.. I don't think I could go without Ealdwine." I answer, thinking about how one of them needed to be around me at all times. I don't mean to sound insulting to Catarina, but she's seemed distant lately. I really wouldpreferEaldwine.
"Oh, you two have a thing going on?" She asks, poking my side.
"I don't know what you'd call it actually.. A thing, but not a 'bow chicka wow wow' type of thing, and not so much of a 'let's just be friends' thing.. I don't know what it is.."
"Oh.. So like a gay friend type of thing, but you flirt with him sometimes?"
"Sort of except.. You know how Roger told you he was gay? He's not. I lied.. More of just to annoy Ealdwine, but turns out, he doesn't care what people think. But he's not gay.. At least, I don't think he is.. But I just made it up.. He could be, but likely he's not."
"Thank god!" She says, in a 'Hallelujah!' sort of way, but then she cuts it out quickly. "But of course.. if you like him, he's all yours. I didn't have a chance anyway."
"You thinkIhave a chance?! God no! I don't think any girl really does. His standards are like through the roof. Like.. you have to fall into certain categories, the kind in which none of us could ever reach, to get him to even consider you as anymore more than a friend. He's looking for love, and I don't think he'll find that in me." I tried my hardest to talk about it without revealing too much about how Ealdwine will only date another vampire.
"Thanks for boosting my confidence.." She answers sarcastically. "But I'll see you later."
"Kay, see yah.." I walk into Social and my jaw almost hit the floor. Ealdwine was sitting facing Paige and they were.. talking. The girl I almost fought to get away from him, and he was having a conversation with her! I felt betrayed, even though.. I mean I can't keep him from talking to who he wants, but I mean, come on! He KNOWS I'm in this class with him! He could have at least been decent enough tohideit from me!
This wasn't umbrella bad luck.. This wasallhim. If this was him trying to prove a point to me, it wasn't funny. In fact, I wanted to swat him across the face.
I sit in front of Roger instead of normally behind him and he watches me take my seat. I created a wall of my own hair between his eyes and my scowling face. Doesn't anyone ever remember that I'm bipolar?! You don't mess with anger like that!
Hit on Roger.
What? Kay no, remember what happened last time?!
But that was when Ealdwine wasn't interested. Now that he is.. Think about it.
I sigh and think about what to say to Roger.
"Hey Mister. What's going on?" I turn around and lean over my chair onto his desk.
"Not too much.. You?"
"Oh not too much. Just thinking about last week."
"Oh? I've been thinking about that too.."
"Really? What do you think about it?"
"I think that.. I liked it."
"Me too.. So whatcha doing later?" I ask. Suddenly, a piece of paper hits me in the head and I look over to my right quickly and see Ealdwine glaring at me.
"Kay never mind." I say to Roger as I glare back at Ealdwine and turn around.
Aren't we good?! See? JEALOUSY WRITTEN ALL OVER HIS FACE!
"Are you sure he's gay?" Roger asks.
"Yep. I'm positive." I nod and cross my arms, refusing to look at Ealdwine. What the hell? If he's going to hit on Paige, I should be allowed to hit on Roger! Even if it's fake..
About halfway through class, I dared to look over at Ealdwine and he wasfuming.Uh oh.. Did I do something really bad?
Obviously he's going to be mad if he's jealous.
I feel bad..
Why? It only makes him want you more.
No! It makes me look like a jerk.
When class was over, Ealdwine was taking his time as he watched me shove all of my things into my binder. I try to escape quickly out of the room, but the crowding at the doorway kept me behind.
"Dacia. I think we need to talk." Ealdwine says those cursed words.
"Do you? Cause I don't." I try to leave out the door, but he had his hand on my shoulder. "It's not like we'redating,Ealdwine. Don't have a cow."
He takes his hand off and I manage to flee towards my locker once the crowd dispersed. But when I got there, he was already standing there waiting, leaning against the locker next to mine.
"Exactly, we're not dating, so when you see me talking to another girl, don't freak out and start talking to another guy that you don't evenlike."
"How do you know I don't like him? You can't read my thoughts."
"No, but I can read your body language."
"So what?! You betrayed me by talking to that slut!"
"Betrayed you?!"
"Uh, yeah?! You know I hate her." I drop my books into the bottom of my locker and enjoy the thud it makes.
He sighs and turns to face me. "So tell me about all the horrible things that happened to you today."
"Why are you changing the subject?!" I grimace and put on my jacket.
"Just tell me."
I sigh irritated and start to list them off.
"Well, for one, I'm not going to MCR, second, I went to the wrong locker this morning--"
"That one is just basic ignorance, not bad luck." He interrupts.
"--Someone took a dump in the only stall in the bathroom unoccupied today.."
"That happens all the time. You got another stall anyways when someone finished, right?"
"Well yeah--"
"So I don't see the problem."
I sigh and continue to list them off. "I got a 63% in Biology when I was positive I got an 80%."
"Well maybe you didn't study hard enough. Maybe you skimmed things over and thought you knew the answer. Bad luck is as if the answers you got all changed and you did bad cause something else of a higher powermadeyou get bad. It's not luck, Dacia."
"Ugh! Well.. I spilt orange juice on my sweater! Prove that one wrong!"
"You're clumsy?"
"And I saw YOU talking to Paige, which is just... douchebaggary of you so.. Ugh!"
He stares at me for a moment, snorts and then throws back his head and laughs at me from hysterics. He was laughing so hard that it echoed through the entire hallway. I glare at him, so ready to ram my fist in his arm, but he stops and just smiles at me.
"Paige asked me if I wanted to go to the My Chemical Romance concert with her, because she had an extra floor ticket. I said I would gladly take it, and paid for it right there. She thought it was for me, but I bought it for you. So here you go. I'm a big douche bag, jerk, asshole, whatever you want to call me." He hands me the ticket, unscathed and perfect. He waits for me to do something, but I was still, staring at it. It was right there..
Without really thinking, I wrap my arms around his neck in my leap and hug him hard and angrily, except happily at the same time. Can Imarryyou?!
"You're such a jerk." I say, still squeezing him.
"Oh thanks.." He says grumpily.
I move back to look at him. "You made me miserable all this time just to make me unmiserable. But wait... How can I possibly go without you? I don't really want to go with my friends, who suck right now."
"Why don't you go withRoger?" He says in a snooty tone.
"Oh definitely not. But.. Youhaveto be there."
"I know. And I will be."
"But you don't have a ticket."
"You honestly think I won't be able to find another way in? I could come in and no one would even see me. I'll be there with you, Ipromise."
I jump up and hug him again, feeling a lot better. He hugs me back this time, and I close my eyes. Could he get any more perfect?! Well.. He could be.. If hewantedme.
"But you know.. You were being a jerk too.." He says, almost glaring.
"When?" I ask.
"When you were hitting on what's his face. I can hear across pastures, let alone rooms."
"I know." I answer, twiddling my ticket through my fingers. "I was doing that to spite you.. But now that I know you were being nice, I'll just let you know that he's got nothing on you." I answer, grinning.
"Oh, him and his scrawny build, tinged teeth and wimpy arms is quite the competition for me I'd say." He says sarcastically, sounding a little proud.
"Matteodidsay you were arrogant." I laugh.
"Really? What else did he say about me?"
"Well, he described in stunning detail that you're incredibly handsome and articulately robust. I think he might have a crush on you."
"He said that? Huh. No way he could have lusted for me long with you captured in his gaze."
"Oh yeah right. That's why he wanted me to kill him?"
He sighs. "I don't know. But don't worry.. he'll give up on you eventually."
"Eventually, like when I die of old age?"
Ealdwine grins. "Well, I would be glad to be by your side in any case."
"You'd get sick of me. They always do."
"Ha! I'd be afraid of you getting sick ofme."
I give him a look as though I was offended. "I could never get sick of looking at this face." I answer, grabbing his chin with my hand. The cold touch and the placement quickly reminded me of last night, and our 'moment.' I take my hand away as he looks away with a small grin.
"Well, that's good then. Cause it's never going to change."
