~Story start~
You and Isabell sat down in your regular seats, you in front of her. You, as usual, turned around in your seat to talk to Isabell until class started. Not that you really paid attention anyway, you tuned in a bit at the begining of class, but towards the middle, you drifted out and started to daydream.
You were still talking to Isabell when she suddenly got quiet and pointed excitedly toward the door. You turned aroundto see the most GEORGOUS(sp?) guy you had ever seen. He was extremely pale, maybe even paler then yourself, and his eyes were a shocking shade of emerald green. You held back a gasp, he was...beautiful. You couldn't call him hot, he was too graceful for that type of labeling. He glided into the room, and took the only empty seat, right next to you. You could see Isabell grinning like an idiot and giving you the thumbs up, but you barely noticed. He turned to you and smiled gently at you. "Hello, i am Alex. It's a pleasure to make your aquantiance." he said with a voice like velvet, holding out his hand. You manged to not gawk(sp?) at him and shook the offered hand. "It's a pleasure to meet you as well. I'm Celia." you said, and he smiled at you again. You magaed a weak smile and quickly turned to face the board, pretending to listen with intrest, while your thoughts were buzzing. -man, he is so sweet! wait, i cant like him already! i dont even know him!-
You spent the rest of the day thinking about Alex's face, his voice, his movements...no! you cant like him! you told yourself sternly. Sure, he's a little cute, but that doesn't mean he's a great guy or anything. He could be absolutely horrible underneath that pretty face. Still, he couldnt be all THAT bad....
"Cel! Pay attention! I was asking you a question!" "Oh, sorry Bell. I was just thinking." "Yes, i'm pretty sure i know who you're thinking about!" Isabell said, grinning. "You like him." she accused, and you put of an indignant face. "How could i like him? I don't even know him!" "Still, you HAVE to admit that he's at least a LITTLE bit cute..." "Well, maybe a little." you admitted. Isabell's face had a triumphant look on it. "Oh, come on, everyone has to think he's cute!" you groaned. "That's true, but you seem to like him most of all Cel. Iknow it, don't deny me! I know all..." Isabell said, with an eeiry(sp?) voice. You laughed. "Yes, o Knowing One. Did you also know that today is my birthday?" you said, laughing again. Isabell's eyes got wide. "Oh my god, it IS your birthday, isn't it?" she said, appaled. You laughed at the look on her face. "This is priceless, i HAve to have a pic." you pulled out your cell and snapped a pic of her horrifed face. She didn't even move, she was so appaled at forgeting your birthday. (Isabell hates having her picture taken, she always hides her face whenever any camera, even a phone, comes into view.) "Omg, i have to go now," she said, and rushed off to wherever she was going to go. Probably to get you the gift she forgot. You laughed to yourself again, and continued walking home.
You were passing an alleyway, when a harsh voice called out to you.
"Hello there, beautiful. How about i take you hame with me tonight?" the harsh voice asked in a slur. A drunk, ragged looking man appeared out of the alleyway. He stumbled toward you, but you sidestepped him and kept walking. He folloed after you and grabbed your arm, and pushed you up against a wall. "Where are ya' going, sweetie?" he said, and tried to kiss you. You struggled to get away, and started to scream at the top of your lungs. "HELP! R@PE!!" you screamed, but there was no one there to help you. You were alone.
NOOO!!!! dont end it here!!!!! (me: dont worry, i wont!)
Suddenly the drunk was pulled off you, and thrown against the wall of the alley. You slid to the ground, shuddering with relief. The drunk had now stood up again, looking for whoever had thrown him from his prize. You looked up. It was Alex. He was standing in front of you, sheilding you from the drunk. He staggered toward Alex, and grabbed him and thew him against the wall and started to kick him, over and over. You were suddenly filled with a rage, and you got up and ran to the drunk, pulling him away from Alex with ease and throwing him against the oppisite wall. You hadnt noticed the wings that had sprouted from your back, but Alex did. His eyes widened in astonishment, but he hid it and stood up. "Thanks," he gasped. "No, thank you. You saved me." You replied, and turned to face the drunk. Your eyes flashed a brilliant gold, and the man took off, never looking back. You suddenly fell, exhausted, but Alex caught you. He pulled you back up into a standing position, you leaning heavily on him. He led you to a bench in an empty park and sat you down on it, sitting next to you. You two just sat there for a bit, you leaning on him, shuddering and crying at what had almost happened to you. Alex just sat there, gently stroking your hair and slowly rocking you back and forth. Finally you were able to pull yourself together and stop crying. You wiped away your tears and looked at Alex, who was still just sitting there. "Thank you." you managed to choke out. "It's fine. I'm sure you would have been able to get out of it." he assured you calmly. "What? I was almost killed!" -and r@ped...- you thought. "Perhaps. But please don;t go mentioning it to anyone else. Please?" For a moment, Alex's seemingly indistructable mask wavered, and you saw a hint of pleading, and- could it be? fear in his eyes. "I won't tell anyone." you assured him, and his 'mask' was in place once more.
"Do you need me to walk you home?" Alex asked gently. You were slightly ashamed of yourself, but you agreed anyway. "Yes, please. I'm not sure if- if i can make it home alone." you choked out the last part. You were such a baby! But you needed him anyway, that much was sure. "So, where do you live?" Alex asked. "23 Palm Street." you answered and started to walk in the direction of your house. His hand caught your arm. "What? This is the way to my house." you said. Alex had a slightly mischevious gleam in his eye. "Yes, i know, but i know a another way to Palm Street than the way you are going." he said. You followed Alex down another street, confused. How could he already know another way to your house when he had only been here for a few days? You shook your head, but followed him anyway. You didn't know why, but you felt safe with Alex, even though you had practicly no idea who he was. You felt as if you had some sort of...connection to him, as if you and him were old friends. You weren't sure, but it felt as if you had seen him from somewhere before...
Alex had stopped walking, and you had almost run into him. "Sorry," you muttered, suddenly slightly shy. You realized that you had walked to the edge of city limits. (you lived on the VERY edge of L.A. in the burbs) The sun was begining to go down. -man, my mom is gonna KILL me when i get back.- Still, it was a pretty sight, you admitted to yourself. The setting sun cast firey rays across the sky, and the clouds were orange, red, and some pink. It was beautiful. You turned to Alex. "So, where's that shortcut?" you asked. His only response was a grin. Then: "There isn't one." "What?" you said, slightly angry now. "There isn't a shortcut." he repeated, and you turned on him, almost blazing with fury. "What! Why did you trick me like this? I NEED to go home now!" You turned around and was about to go rushing back the way you came when Alex's hand caught your arm, once again. You whirled aropund to face him, furious now. Your eyes started to change color to red, and not just a quick flash this time. "What?!?" you nearly screeched at him. Alex jept his conposure, but his eyes seemed to turn a little red themselves. "Well, if you would shut up for a moment, i could tell you what!" he said, starting to get a little annoyed himself. You took a deep breath and tried to calm down. Your eyes returned to their normal shade of dark blue, and Alex's returned to their normal shade of dazzling emerald. "Ok, what did you want?" you said, once you tursted yourself to speak. "Hold on, we aren't far enough away to speak yet." Alex intrupted you by putting a finger on your lips. You felt a thrill go through you at his touch. Wait! I can't like him, i can't... you trailed off in your thoughts. You didn't want to puresure them, one way or the other. Alex motioned for you to follow, and vanished into a tree line that you hadn't noticed before. You shrugged to yourself and followed him in. Once on the other side of the tree line, you gasped. There was NO WAY this forest could fit inside that little tiny tree line you had just passed. Huge pines blocked out almost all of the sky, and a thick layer of pine needles covered the ground. It was beautiful, and confusing. You didn't even remember seeing any pines in the tree line, let alone an entire forest of them.
Alex was vanishing out of sight, so you pushed those thoughts out of your head and concentrated on following him through the thick mess of trees. You almost tripped a few times, but you caught yourself each time, and Alex just kept going through the trees, weaving and ducking just at the right moments, as if he had been traveling this forest his whole life.
After a while, Alex finally stopped in a clearing with a small pool and a few fallen logs near by. There were dancing lights around the pool, you just passed them off as fireflies. After all, it was summer.
Alex sat down on a log and beckoned you to join him. You did so, and shivered a little, as the nights were chilly in the summer.
"Here, take my coat, i'm not that cold." Alex said, and began to shrug off his coat without waiting for a response. You accepted the offered coat gratefully, and put it around your shoulders. You inhaled the scent of the jacket, a strange mixture of unidentiiable substances that was oddly pleasing to smell. Slightly minty, perhaps, but there was a touch of something floral to it... Whatever it was, it smelled good. -boy, am i strange. contemplatiing what smells are in a guy's jacket.- You mentally shook your head at youself. You tuned back into Alex, who had started talking.
"Look, i don't really know how to say this, but i'll try." he was saying. You nodded at him to go on. He took a deep breath and continued. "You know when you pulled that drunk off of me?" you nodded slowly. The memory was still fresh. Well, when you turned around to face him, i saw..." he trailed off, and tried again. "I saw...wings on your back." You just sat there for a moment, in shock. Then you slowly reached behind you, to feel your back. There was nothing there. No bumps, or feathers, or even holes in your shirt. You turned back to Alex, a disbelieveing look on your face. He saw it, and imediately bagan to speak. "Look, i know that's hard to believe, but please, hear me out, ok?" You thought about it, and slowly nodded. Alex continued. "Well, this will sound like the most crazy, stupid thing you have ever heard, but here goes... You are an angel."
You were speechless. "I...didn't realize you felt that way..." Alex realized what you thought he meant and began to blush furiously. "No, no, not like that! I meant like a REAL angel, with wings and stuff." Your feeling of flatterment disappeared at once. "What do you mean, a real angel?' Do i look like i hve wings to you? Or, some kind of halo?" You pointed to your head. "Really, this isn't funny, Alex. I am NOT an angel, there's no way." You shook your head and stood up. Alex stood up too, and his voice was quiet. "Then explain to me how you found that white feather this morning." You froze. How did he know that? "It probably got inside when someone left the door open too long, and it's probably a goose feather. There are geese around here." But you could hear the uncirtanty in your voice, and you were sure Alex could hear it too.
You realized that you had sat down on the log again, and you and Alex's faces were very close, so close that you could feel his warm breath on his face. You began to lean in a little closer until your lips were almost touching. Suddenly Alex jerked away, robbing you of the potential kiss. "I think you should go now." he said bluntly. You nodded, still a little disappointed that he had jerked away at the last second.
Alex stood up, and you followed suit. You were very close again, lips so close, and you wanted to kiss him so badly, you almost couldn't stand it. Before you could do anything, however, Alex said, "Sleep." and breathed in your face once. Suddenly you was tired, oh so tired, and you couldn't keep your eyes open for another second.
You fell into a deep sleep, and Alex caught you before you fell, and carried you, bridal style, out of the clearing.
