~Hold Your Peace In Pieces~

So fast-forward a month and a half, and we’re in Hartford, Connecticut getting ready for the Halloween show. “Sisky you look like a tranny.” “I’m SUPPOSED to!” I rolled my eyes and laughed, then put a flower in my hair and smoothed out my dress. “So what do you think?” I asked, dancing around the dressing room. “You look like a mermaid!” I laughed and hugged Adam tightly then made a face. “Remind me never to hug you again when you’re wearing fake boobs.” He rolled his eyes and walked out of the room.

My dress wasn’t really a dress; it was a long sparkly green skirt that looked like a mermaid tail and a bright purple tank top. I ran outside and bumped right into Lia, who was dressed up like Sally from The Nightmare Before Christmas because was dressed up as Jack Skellington. “You look so CUTE!” I squealed, hugging her tightly and giggling. “You look great too! I’m so excited; this is gonna be one of the most fun concerts ever!”

I felt someone tap my shoulder then turned around and screamed. “MIKE WHAT THE FUCK!” Mike was the scariest clown I’ve ever seen in my entire life. “You look terrifying!” “Well that’s the point isn’t it?” “Yeah I guess so, but don’t scare me like that again!” He tried to hug me and I ran behind Lia. “Seriously, don’t even touch me.”

“What’s going on guys?” Michael had walked up by Mike and was looking at us all oddly. “BATMAN! Save me.” I hid behind Michael and he just laughed, he was Batman for Halloween. “What am I saving you from?” “Mike. He’s really scary.” “Okay then…” “LOOK GUYS, I’M A MUMMY!” Butcher yelled from behind me. I just laughed and hugged Butcher. “You are so damn skinny, way to pick a costume that emphasizes it.” “Sorry?” I giggled and ran backstage to watch Cobra Starship perform, they were finally on the tour and it looked like they were having a blast.

“Hey Phoebe!” William said waving at me. “William? I barely recognized you, except that there aren’t too many people who are as tall and skinny as you.” He laughed and smiled, brushing a stray hair from his make-up covered face. “So I’ve decided you’re gonna sing my part in Bring It! tonight!” “Why me?!” “Because I don’t want anyone to see my costume yet!” “Why not Lia?” “Cause her costume gives mine away, now GO!”

I grabbed the mic from William’s hand and ran out onstage, then sang my part. Gabe smiled and hugged me when the song was over and I ran offstage again and right into Mike. “AHHHHHHHHH GET IT AWAY!” I squealed as Mike hugged me and held me tight. “No, I want to scare you!” I kicked my legs uselessly and gave up. “Fine, be mean.” “Why thank you, I will!”

An hour later I’d luckily managed to get Mike off me because I was onstage singing Everything We Had. “GIVE IT UP FOR AURELIA THE MERMAID!” Jack the camera guy yelled enthusiastically into his mic. He was hosting the show tonight and introducing everyone by their costume names, it was pretty ridiculous. I smiled and blew a kiss then walked offstage without tripping. “This is so cool!” Lia said as I walked over to her and giggled.

“I know, they all look so weird in their Halloween costumes!” I said, cringing from Mike. “Well at least we look good.” “Hell yeah we do! And seriously, you and William are too cute.” Lia blushed and smiled then said “Yeah and I’m sure you and Sisky would look REAL cute right about now.” I laughed and rolled my eyes then went back to the bus and laid down in my bunk, listening to my iPod.

“You okay Pheebs?” Adam said a half an hour later. “Yeah, I’m fine, why?” I rolled over to look at Adam, who was thankfully wearing no wig and no make-up, but was now wearing jeans and a t-shirt. “I dunno, you just kinda ran out of there.” “Mike was scaring me.” He laughed and sat down in front of my bunk and just looked at me. I remembered I was still wearing my costume and pulled my blanket over me, blushing and giggling.

“You sang really well tonight.” “Aww, I don’t always sing well?” “No you do, I mean…fuck I just meant you have a nice voice.” I laughed and climbed out of my bunk, digging through my suitcase for normal clothes. I went into another room and changed into blue pj pants and a bright green t-shirt, then walked back and smiled. “Wanna go for a walk?” Adam said. “Yeah!”

We went out of the tour bus and started walking around aimlessly. “So?” I asked, looking over at Adam and smiling. “So…let’s dance in the middle of the street.” I laughed and we went out into the street and starting dancing along it, laughing and talking more. I heard tires squeal and looked up curiously. “Sounds like someone almost had an accident.” A car swerved around the corner and I screamed, closing my eyes and praying the car would miss me somehow.
