The two weeks went by rather slowly in Mizuki and Kiba’s opinion. Happily though Mizuki found herself heading towards Konoha with all the other delegates, the genin, and their jounin leaders. They arrived at the main gate where Kiba stood also happily, waiting for the group’s arrival. While everyone got his or her passes Kiba caught Mizuki’s eye and gave her a smile. She smiled back and gave a little wave. “Alright,” Chouji said when everyone had gotten their passes, “If all the delegates would come with me I’ll give you a quick tour and show you where you are staying.” Kiba inwardly scowled at this. He had tried to subtly convince Chouji to change his mind and let him take the first group of delegates but it didn’t work. “And if all the participants and your leaders would come with me I’ll show you where you are staying,” Kiba said after Chouji was finished. The two groups walked for a little ways and then separated before Kiba or Mizuki could say anything more to the other. Learning their names Kiba showed each group where they were staying. He didn’t even bring out his list. Most of his last week had been spent assigning rooms for everyone who was coming. By the time he got done with it he had everything memorized. The only reason he was glad he got to do that was he knew where Mizuki was staying and he was hoping to stop by later to say hi. Before he could do that he had to meet Lee at the main gate where they would take the next group of delegates to arrive and show them around. Inwardly Kiba sighed, it was going to be a long day. He wouldn’t get to stop by Mizuki’s place until evening.
Mizuki lay on her bed completely bored. She wanted to do something but was rather tired from her trip. She also wanted to see Kiba if nothing but to exchange a hello in words. “You don’t want to go to the park do you Yami?” Even if I did would you really want to? “Not really but I thought if maybe you had energy,” Mizuki trailed off with nothing left to say. You are so lazy sometimes. “So I’m a little tired.” There was a knock at the door. “I wonder who that is,” Mizuki asked getting up and heading to the door. She opened it to have a big white thing jump on her knocking her to the floor. “Akamaru,” Kiba groaned. Akamaru gave a little whine as he licked Mizuki. He got off her and Kiba offered his hand. Mizuki gave a little laugh, “That’s ok Akamaru. It’s nice to se you too.” Mizuki accepted Kiba’s extended hand and stood up rubbing her backside a little. Kiba noticed. “I’m sorry. Did he hurt you? He’s is really big.” “Yes he is but I’m fine. It’s nice to see you. I was afraid I wasn’t even going to be able to say hello.” “Yeah I tried to convince Chouji to switch but it didn’t work.” “Oh. So how did you know where I was staying?” “I was the one who got to assign rooms for everybody. Sorry you got stuck out here all by yourself you wouldn’t believe how much of a pain that task was.” “It’s fine. Sometimes a little quiet and alone time is nice.” There both just stood there for a minute not sure where to take the conversation next. “So,” Kiba finally said, “Have you eaten yet?” “Actually I have. But I’d be willing to get dessert wherever we go.” Kiba tired to hide his absolute excitement at her wanting to do something with him. He waited as Mizuki grabbed something and then the four of them left. They went to a dango shop and there Kiba had some dango while Mizuki had some anmitsu. They talked mostly about the chunnin exams and eventually Kiba found himself walking Mizuki back to her room. “Well,” Kiba said when they were at her door, “I guess I’ll see you tomorrow at the meeting.” “Yup two days of final preparation work and then it all begins.” “Yeah. See you later then.” “Bye,” Mizuki said giving a little wave and watching as Kiba and Akamaru walked away. Mizuki went inside and plopped down on her bed. She soon fell asleep anticipating the next day.
Mizuki walked into the meeting room with Yami and looked around. She chuckled a little at what she saw. Everyone was huddled into different groups with people from their own village. All the villages who had sent just one person were all gathered near each other but none of them were talking. Mizuki walked over to her friends, having no desire to try and branch out herself, and sat down. She kind of wanted to sit next to Kiba but figured it would be a little too awkward and was afraid of the questions it might raise. And so everyone sat there, either in absolute silence or quietly chattering away with his or her friends until Tsunade walked in. Everyone quieted down and she started talking. “Well you all know why you are here. All of the Kages have discussed and agreed upon all the tests and we have decided which one’s you will be in charge of. All right you guys come up here.” At her prompting four Konoha shinobi stood up placing themselves on either side of her. “This is Chouji, Kiba, Lee, and Tenten,” Tsunade said pointing out each of them as she said their names. After being introduced the four of them started walking amongst everyone handing out papers. “This is a list of everyone and which part of the chunnin exams they are in charge of. On there you will find your name and which one of the four I mentioned earlier that you will be going with to get further instructions and more details. And that is basically what you’ll be doing for the next two days. Have fun and good luck.” With that Tsunade left and the four leaf village ninja stood at the front of the room. Everyone stayed seated looking over the list until one brave soul got up and headed towards the front. Soon everyone followed. Mizuki looked at her list and headed towards where Chouji was standing. She would be helping out with the third part of the exams. She sighed watching Kiba and his group head out.
Kiba tried to be as enthusiastic as possible as he led his group to the academy. Looking at the lists before he handed them out he saw that Mizuki wasn’t in his group. Man what’s it take to just get to know someone around here he thought. Arriving at the academy Kiba led everyone to the room where the first chunnin exam would take place and there he began the first of two exciting days.
The two days went by quickly for the examiners. Their first day was spent reviewing what their part of the exam would consist of, in detail. Not a single component or fact was overlooked, each person learning and reviewing exactly what they were to do along with those around them. The second day was spent getting to know the people they were working with. Everyone had dived right into the material the first day and had spent all day doing that, at the most learning a name or two of the people around them. At first conversation was slow but eventually everyone spent hours talking about his or her lives and relating to each other. Between all the talking they got in their work reviewing what they were to do and getting a simple overview of the other parts of the chunnin exam. Though fun it was still busy work that took the entire time and Kiba and Mizuki never got a chance to talk to each other.
