Saying oh, can't you see, that for worse or for beeeetter we're beeeeetter together, please!
"Leila I am still on the phone." Lex said with a little bit of a snort when she heard me singing.
"Oh, right, sorry." I always forget I'm on the phone with people when I start singing. But, hey, music it's what I do.
"So, Lei, where are you on your way to that's soooo important that you couldn't come out to dinner with me and my parents?"
"First of all, don't call me Lei, it sounds like a hooker's nickname. Second, even if I didn't have to work I STILL wouldn't go out with Mr. and Mrs. Crazy. And third...well, there's no third. I kinda summed it all up there." Lex's parents were the very definition of crazy. They were even more so than me, and that's very hard to beat.
"Well, fine. But now I have to go get ready. I'll call you tomorrow or something?"
"Yeah, alright. Say hi to dear 'ol mum and dad for me," I said in a fake brittish accent.
"Oh, I will. Later!" With that, I took your headset out, and started to belt out some more tunes as I made my way to the office. My boss, Paige had called with almost a panic/excited tone in her voice. I pulled into the very big parking lot, and took the key out of my black sportscar, Mustang. I'd been saving for that car since I was 15 and finally had gotten it a few months back. As I opened the two large glass french doors at the entrance to the building, I straightened myself out, while giving a quick wave to the guy at the front desk, Tom. He's been there a very long time and he's also super nice. I got in the elevator and hit "4". As soon as the elevator doors opened into the office, Paige came at you like a cannon.
"Oh my god! Leila! Thank GOD you're here!" She said excitedly and almost out of breath.
"What?! Whats going on?!" I was a little bit scared, Paige has never showed this much emotion before and it was kind of throwing me off.
"You will NEVER guess who just called and wants an appointment to discuss his layout of his first album."
"Hm. Oh! Oh! I know. The President!" I replied slightly sarcasticly, while still trying to be as excited as Paige was about this whole deal.
"Uh, no. Why would the president make his own album? I mean, I guess he could do it for charity or something, but really in all honesty-"
"PAIGE!" I cut her off, and she blinked rapidly, "I was kidding. I really don't know. Who?"
"Josh Greene!" I stared at Paige.
"...who?"
"You know! That guy!"
"Oh right! That guy. I totally get who you're referring to now," I said rolling my eyes.
"He's from The Real World on MTV, the new season that just came out, and he's from around the Boston area! So, he said that "It would be wicked rad if one of the hottest you know, design companies in Boston could help, you know, spread my words." I just looked at her for a good two minutes without saying anything. "Leila? Helloooo?" She said waving a hand in front of me.
"Oh, sorry. I was just trying to figure out which moron would give such an idiot a record deal. The Real World?! Seriously?! I should be insulted." Now I was just getting a little aggrivated at how someone who was a complete doof, was going to have to work with me over the next few weeks at making a "totally rad design".
"Epic." Paige said matter-of-factly.
"I'm sorry...what?" I couldn't believe it. Epic Records was one of the biggest music labels out there, and this would be the first time I would get a chance to work with someone from there.
"Thats right! He's from fucking Epic. Do you know what this could do for us?! And for you!" It was true, this would be one of the best opportunities I've ever gotten. And I definitely couldn't pass it up.
"Yeah, I'll do it. Even if the client is a complete idiot."
"Alright! Great! You have to meet him tomorrow, at 2 o'clock at," Paige took out a little piece of paper, "The Boston Yacht Club."
"Wow. Should I get my sailor outfit on?"
"I'm sure it wouldn't hurt." We both laughed. Paige handed me a demo before I left, and when I got back into your car you popped it in the CD player.
Life's hard, it can't be bought. Yeah, people are cruel, you can't fix that. But as long as I'm standing, I won't be falling.
"Ooooh. My goodness." I said to myself. It was kind of a rock/rap thing, and he was definitely a guy who couldn't do either one. Now, I was thinking wether or not I wanted my name included on this project. But, maybe Epic would edit it from now until the release. After all, it was a demo. Right? I got back to my apartment, and said hi to Sparx. Today was a very long day and tomorrow, tons of celebrities are known to hang out at The Boston Yacht Club.
