Riding on a skateboard from country to country hasn't exactly been my definition of fun. Although it has been better than going on missions with injuries, it was no fun. Running away was one of the best decisions I've ever made. The one thing that I regret is not getting to go on missions anymore.
I help out people in some villages, but it's only cleaning and stuff like that. Sometimes, if I'm lucky, some villages have shogi tournaments and the prize is a lot of ryo. So I'm fine as far as food and clothing go. I was just really bored. I've been to every country, but I've never been to the villages where the kages live. Even though that's where the action probably is, I'vebeen keeping a low profile. Currently, I'm heading back to my village. The Hidden Rock Village. I have to see if the people there have forgotten about me.
"Three more days." I said to myself. "Until I'm either held prisoner in my own village or I'm free to do as I please."
I was riding down a long path in the Wind country, when suddenly my board came to an abrupt stop and I fell getting a mouth full of sand. I spit it out.
"What the f**k?!?" I got back up and noticed that I was now getting close to one of the larger villages. The Hidden Sand Village.
Even though it was a large village, I was hungry and the next villagewas probably another few days away. I picked up my board and started running. I would be tired by the time I got there, but eating normalfood would be worth it.
Ispotted the gates to thevillage about an hour after I started running. So, I started to walk. As I got to the front gates, two guards stood up straight and blocked the opening to the village.
"What is your purpose here?" One of them asked.
"I'm just visiting," I replied.
They looked at each other and both nodded. "You may pass. But don't cause any trouble!"
I looked at both of them and smiled. "Don't worry, I won't." And I walked into a large village for the first time since leaving my own.

The sand village was beautiful! The weather was nice, the buildings, everything. I walked around for a bit and walked into a small restaurant.

As I walked in, I noticed that there weren’t very many people, there was a guy wearing what looked like a cat suit and purple make-up and there was a girl that was sitting with him that looked like she wanted to leave. The guy said something and the girl slapped him and stormed out of the restaurant. I laughed on the inside, but I sat down quickly so I didn’t burst out in laughter.

A waitress came over to my table and I ordered quickly. I looked over to where the guy was sitting and noticed that he had gotten up and was now walking in my direction.

“Is this seat taken?” He asked.

“Wow, you sure bounce back from rejection fast.” I said.

“What?” He pretended to be confused.

“Didn’t you just get slapped by a girl over at that table?” I asked pointing to where he was sitting before.

“You saw that?!?!?” He asked slightly shocked.

“Everyone in the restaurant saw that,” I started. “Lucky for you, the only people in the restaurant at that time was me and the waitress.”

He laughed and sat down. “I’m Kankuro. What’s your name?”

“I’m Vex.”

“That’s an interesting name.”

“You think?”

“You’re not from around here are you?”

“Hmm, what made it so obvious?” I said sarcastically.

He laughed again. “Then after you eat, why don’t I show you around the village?”

“Sure, that would be nice.” I said appreciating his company.

I ate quickly and he started to show me around the village. We walked around for a while talking and eventually, we stopped in front of the kage’s building.

“Do you want to meet my brother?” Kankuro asked.

“Sure.” I replied.

“Then follow me.” He pushed open the door to the kage’s building and started walking towards a flight of stairs.

We went all the way to the top and he stopped in front of a door.

“We’ll have to wait for a bit, he’s in a meeting with someone.” Kankuro said.

We waited for a couple of minutes and the door opened. My heart nearly stopped when the door opened, because standing in the doorway, was my father.

“Oh, hello.” He smiled. I was confused. “Do I know you? Oh, right you’re a jounin from my village. No wonder why your face is so familiar. Well, keep up the good work.” He smiled again and left.

I felt so relieved, and now, I’m as free as a bird. I can go anywhere, and do almost anything.

“Hey Gaara!” Kankuro walked into the room, and I followed. “I want you to meet someone. This is Vex.”

“Hello.” He nodded in my direction and went back to his work.

“Hi.” I said. “Your brother is THE kazekage?!?!” I whispered to Kankuro.

He smiled. “Yup.”

“I’ve always wanted to be the kage of my village, but I don’t think that’s ever going to happen.” I said.

“Why not…” Gaara looked up from his papers.

“Ummm… I can’t really say…” I responded.

“That’s alright…” Gaara said and he went back to his papers.

“Gaara.” A female voice said. A blonde haired girl entered the room.

“That’s my sister, Temari.” Kankuro whispered to me.

“Gaara, I just wanted to say good-bye, I’m leaving for Kohona. To meet my guide for the chunin exams.” Temari said.

“Hey sis!” Kankuro said.

“Hello Kankuro, who’s that girl beside you? Did you finally get a girlfriend?” She asked.

“No…” I said. “By the way, I’m Vex. Nice to meet you.”

She laughed and Gaara smirked. Kankuro blushed a little.

“Did you say you were going to Kohona?” I asked. It has been one of the places that I’ve always wanted to visit.

“Yeah, why do you ask?” She said.

“Well, I’ve always wanted to go there, but I’ve never been able to go. So, could I go with you?” I asked.

“Hmm, well, I guess it would be nice to have someone to travel with… So sure, why not?” She responded.

“Aww, you’re leaving so soon?” Kankuro pouted.

“Don’t worry, I’ll be back.” I smiled.

“All I have to do is grab a few things, and we’re off.” She started. “Follow me.”

“Good-bye Gaara-sama. Bye Kankuro-kun.” I smiled and followed Temari.

I was finally going to Kohona.
