Chapter 33 : 33 || Read Between the Signs || Chad Crawford
My first day at work wasn't hard, but hectic. You would not believe how many coffees I made! I mean that's too be expected of working at a cafe but damn!
However industrious my hours proved to be, it was not enough to keep my mind off all the tiem spent there with Chad. And the table we always sat at-- I swear I saw him there a couple times outo f the corner of my eye. Dall it deliria; I call it love.
It wasn't really missing Chad terribly after four days that kept me so miserable, but more so the fact that I had no idea what the hell we were going to do once he was done with touring.
After work, some cheer up time was spent at Steven's house. Because James was out somewhere with a girl (info I wouldn't be relaying to Tor) Steven and I were making brownies alone.
We sat at the kitchen table wiping the batter bowl clean with our fingers, waiting for the oven timer to go off, advertising the completeion of our desert.
"So your boyfriend's miles away, huh?"
I licked the chocolatey goo from my index finger before asking, "Why?"
"Just curious," he said with a nonchalant shrug.
"Why would you be curious about that?" A frown found its way to my brow.
"I don't know." He turned his head away from me, and I laughed.
"You've got a little, um," my finger hovered over a place on my own cheek, indicatin where brownie batter decorated his.
He wiped a hand across his face, completely missing the target.
I shook my head and laughed again. "Come here, I'll get it." I scooted my chair closer to his so I could reach him comfortably. I wiped the batter from his cheek and when I looked up from where I was wiping it onthe thigh of his jeans,our faces were awfully close to one another. There was a hesitation where I wondered what would happen next and then-- ding!
"Brownies!" I jumped up from my seat and pulled the oven door open. "Let's eat!"
I went home not too long after that. I lay on my bed smothering myself with my pillow, and I wept.
