There he was again. He was talking to his friends. His friends then looked my way. I quickly averted my eyes and made myself look like I was just looking around. Next thing I know he was standing right in front of me.
“Hi.” I looked up to him.
“Oh umm...hey.” I looked down.
“marlee?” I looked up again and he was looking me in the eyes.
“yea?”
“I really like and I was wondering if you’d like to be my girlfriend?” I was shocked.
“uhhh….yea.”
He leaned forward. This is the moment I’ve waited for 2 years. I leaned forward too. Then as our lips were about to touch…
“GOOD MORNING LA PUSH!”
I woke up with a start. I looked around and I was in my room. I turned off my alarm clock and groaned.
“just 5 more seconds…” it was all a dream.
I got up and dragged myself out of bed. I looked in the mirror. My nice, soft hair was everywhere. I looked tired. I grabbed some clothes and took a shower.
I came out and put my hair down and brushed through it. I went downstairs and grabbed a granola bar. I started chewing on it when I heard a honk. I headed for the door. Outside was my best friend Jacob Black.
Me and Jake have been best friends since middle school. He helped me through everything. And I would help him out when he needed it. Which was rarely because was perfect. Yes I do have a small crush on him…for 2 years now. And yes Jake was the guy in my dream. I haven’t told him because it would ruin our relationship.
My parents would disapprove of me hanging out with boys…in general except family. My parents left yesterday on a month long cruise. I was glad when I heard that they were leaving because they emotionally abuse me all the time. And Jake knew about it but he won’t say anything because he promised me.
“hey sexy.”
“Hey handsome.”
“ready for our junior year in high school?!?!?”
“hahaha no.”
“Yea me neither. But we gotta do it.”
“Yea unfortunately.” I said getting a little sad.
“hey.” I looked at him. His black shaggy hair, his great body, his eyes, his…lips. “You really do look beautiful. I half smiled.
“thanks.” And with that, he drove off to La Push High School.
School was a bore. The only thing that kept me going was seeing Jake in between classes. At lunch I got my tray and headed off to my table. I sat down and started eating the food off my tray. Few seconds later, Quil, Embry, and Jake came. They were so tall and built.
They never used to be like that. After Jake started hanging out with Bella Swan from Forks, Jake and his friends disappeared. Before he left, he kept telling me that he thinks that he was in love with Bella, which broke my heart but I kept giving him advice.
When Jake and everyone did come back, they came back all strong and a bit different. But I could still see my old friends in there. They all came back 3 weeks ago. Every time I would ask him about it, he would just change the subject. But every since Jake came back, me and him have been inseparable.
“You know you guys need to stop growing.” I commented.
“Well you know you really need to start growing.” Embry said.
I glared at him as all 3 of them sat down. Their trays were FILLED with food.
“Got enough food?” I asked
“nope.” Quil said flat out.
Then they all started eating. Or should I say that they were inhaling their food.
“Hey Marlee, my dad is having a campfire this Friday night.” Jake said.
“Ummm…o…k... what does that have to do with me and why?” I was curious why Jake was saying this.
“do you wanna come? And I guess it’s like a welcome back thing.” Jake answered.
“Oh you mean when you left last year?” Jake froze. He looked down at this food and stared at it. Quil and Embry stopped eating and looked at me then at Jake. After a few minutes he answered me.
“no.” Quil and Embry went back to eating and I just sat there looking like an idiot.
“oh.” Quil and Embry looked at me with sympathy. I continued eating.
“it's for the first week as juniors, you know.” I jumped when he spoke. I looked at him and he was looking sympathetic.
“oh.” I said a little perked up.
“so do you wanna come?” Quil asked.
“oh! Um…sure I guess.” Jake smiled so wide.
“cool! By the way Marlee, you look really pretty today.” Embry said. I was shocked. I looked at Jake. He was glaring at Embry.
“um…Jake can I talk to you for a sec?” I said fake smiling. I was aggravated because Jake promised that he would never tell anyone about my parents.
“um sure.” He said getting back to eating.
“Now!” ‘oh’ was all he said and got up and followed me to the school library.
When we got there, I turned to face him and I crossed my arms. He just stood there.
“what’s up?” he acted dumb.
“why did you tell Embry about my parents!?!?”
“I didn’t tell Embry about your parents!”
“oh really, cuz Embry would never ever compliment me out of nowhere!” I argued back.
“Maybe he just thought you looked really pretty today.”
“bullshit! And you know it! I can’t believe you told him when you promised me!” a tear fell out of my eye. I walked away from him before he could see but I think he did.
The rest of the week I ignored Jake, Quil, and Embry. Today was Friday and it was lunch time. I sat down and I started talking to one of my other friends, Sarah.
“Hey Sarah.”
“oh hey marlee.” Sarah said looking at her tray.
“what’s wrong?” I was concerned.
“Quil broke up with me.” She started crying. Her and Quil had been dating for 8 months.
“awww why?” I held her while she cried.
“I don’t know. He didn’t tell me.” I then saw Quil walk into the cafeteria.
“Sarah, I’ll be right back.” I got up and walked over to Quil.
His back was turned to me so I lightly tapped him. He turned around.
“oh hey marlee.” He said with a smile but it soon turned into a frown when he saw my expression.
“what is your problem?!” I crossed my arms.
“what do you mean?” he said.
“why’d you break up with Sarah?” he looked scared.
“look I can’t tell you here—“
“and why the hell not?!” I interrupted him.
“listen. Come tonight to the party and I’ll tell you then. K?”
“fine. But you better have a good reason.” And with that I walked away.
I pulled up to Jacob’s house. There weren’t a lot of cars there. I wonder who all is going to be here. I knocked on the front door and I heard something and I think it was Billy, Jake’s dad. I opened the door and walked into the kitchen and there was Billy.
“oh hello marlee.” Hey smiled so wide.
“hi Billy.” I smiled back.
“Everyone’s out back if you want to go out and see them.” He said with a smile.
“Actually I was just looking for Quil. He has to tell me something then I’m on my way. I’m not staying for the party.”
“oh. Why not? I thought Jake invited you.”
“yea well me and Jake got into a fight the other day. I really don’t want to talk to him at the moment.”
“oh ok. Quil’s out back with everyone else.”
“oh umm thanks. Nice seeing you again Billy.” I smiled and waved.
“yea you too, marlee.” He waved back.
I walked to the backyard. There were a couple more guys that were built and one other girl who I knew as Leah. All the guys didn’t have shirts on. Then I saw Quil and he was talking to…Jacob. I walked up to them and they both turned to me. Jake smiled so wide.
“Marlee! You came!” Jake tried to hug me but I backed up.
“Actually I came to talk to Quil, then I’ll be on my way.” I said rudely. His face turned into a frown. I turned to Quil.
“Well why did you break up with Sarah and why did I have to come here for you to tell me?” I then scowled at Jake. His frown turned even bigger if that was possible.
“Well—“Quil started but got interrupted by Billy.
“Come on everyone! We’re going to start the story.”
“I’ll tell you after the story.”
“fine.” I gave in.

Billy just finished telling the story of the cold ones and werewolves. I was in shock.
“wow…” was all I could say. Quil came up to me.
“Now you get why I had to break up with Sarah. She wasn’t my soul mate.”
“yea I get it. So…you’re a werewolf?”
“yea we all are. Even Leah.” He pointed to everyone. By now everyone was looking at me. Jake then walked up to me.
“So you were telling the truth. You didn’t tell Embry. He read your mind.” He nodded.
“I’m so sorry Jake.” I continued.
“I know. I’m sorry I couldn’t tell you. I would never tell anyone your secrets.” I hugged him.
“thank you Jacob.” After a few minutes we let go.
“hey Marlee, I need to tell you something.” Jacob said.
“oh. Um…ok.” I got a lil nervous.
“You wanna take a walk.”
“um...sure. I guess.” We started walking in the forest. After a while of walking we were in the middle of nowhere. Jake stopped and faced me.
Ok Marlee, what I’m about to tell you, has to do with me being a werewolf.”
“o…k…” confused at where he was going with this.
“Marlee…I’ve imprinted.” That stung.
“You mean you’ve found your soul mate?”
“Yea! And she’s actually one of my friends. And the thing is that I’ve liked her for 2 years.” That hurt really bad.
“Really? That’s… great!” I faked a smile.
“Do you think that she likes me?”
“Let me guess… its Bella Swan from Forks?” afraid his answer would be ‘yes’.
“actually no.” I brightened up a bit. “I thought she was my imprint but when I saw this girl I knew who my real imprint was. Bella…I really liked but not loved.” I felt better that Bella wasn’t his imprint but still bad that he found his soul mate. He continued talking.
“and I liked this girl even before I changed and now that I know she’s my imprint, it makes me feel so happy.” I’m glad that this girl makes him happy.
“so who is this girl?” I asked curious to know what kind of girl Jake likes. He put a finger under my chin and made me look him in the eyes.
“it's you.” He said flatly. I froze. After a while of me standing there, Jake’s smile turned into a frown. With that he lightly grabbed my wrist and turned around and started walking to the house.
I unfroze and I stopped dead in my tracks. Jake turned around and faced me, curious to know why I stopped. I walked up to him and kissed him full on the lips. At first he was shocked but after a few seconds he kissed back. We started full out make out.
After about 10 minutes, we both pulled away.
“wow.” Jacob said. I giggled.
“Marlee…will you be my girlfriend?” he asked hopefully.
“no.” I said and his smile turned into a frown.
“of course I will! I’ve liked you for 2 years too!” I said.
He smiled again and we both kissed again.
“you know you’re so cruel” Jacob said to me.
“well this lil cruel person is the person you love!” I said a lil hyper.
“so true…so true.”
