Chapter One It was a sunny and warm April morning in New York, as Riley Brooks woke up to the familiar sound of Fergie‘s Fergalicious playing on her surround sound stero.. She rolled over to the clock and it read 7:02 AM. Pucci, her black Scottie whined at her bed waiting to be picked up. Of course Riley couldn’t provoke her so she picked her up. “Good morning Pucci! How’s mommy’s baby?” cooed Riley. “Woof!” responded Pucci. “That’s my baby!” Riley said as she kissed Pucci on the top of her head and set her down on the black chaise. She sauntered over to her iMac and wiggled the mouse. The screen came alive. Seven new messages in her Inbox. The first two were just some ads from Dolce and Gabbana and Banana Republic, next was and e-mail from her hair stylist, Eli, about confirming her appointment. She had to reply back A.S.A.P! Her hair was in need of a serious styling! The rest were just from her BFF e-mailing her about their various shopping trips and salon days. Ping! That was the sound of Riley’s Sidekick. She got up to get the phone and heard her mom calling her on the intercom. “Riley? Riley, honey are you awake?” called Leanne Brooks. “Yeah, mom I’m awake!” Riley yelled back. “Breakfast is ready!” “Kay’ Be right down!!” Riley checked her phone. No new messages but her calendar popped up. Saturday, April 12th, 2008: Salon & Shopping Trip!! Yes!! One full day of manicures and pedicures along with strawberry-kiwi fro-yo and shopping with Marc Jaocbs, Prada, Gucci and the rest of the high stake fashion world. She swiveled out of her desk chair and headed downstairs to breakfast. About midway down she could smell the eggs, bacon, toast and coffee. Yum!! When she got downstairs she saw her father, James Brooks, reading the Business section of the morning paper. James Brooks is one of the world’s Top Ten Wealthiest Businessmen. He is a billionaire for inventing peanut butter in a squeeze can. Her mom, Leanne Brooks, was sitting at the table drinking her Carmel Mocha Latte and eating a blueberry muffin, reading Supermodel’s Magazine. Her mom was an international supermodel. She’s modeled all around the world with all of the famous models such as: Heidi Klum, Gisele Bundchen and Tyra Banks just to name a few. Riley was happy to have such famous and rich parents and not to mention totally cool! “Good morning daddy!” Riley said as she kissed her dad’s cheek. “Good morning sweetie!” James said after he kissed her cheek. “Morning mom!” “Good morning Miss Brooks.” said Myra, the family’s housekeeper. “Oh good morning!” “What would you like for breakfast?” “Some HoneyNut Cheerios and a glass of orange juice.” “Yes, ma’am.” Myra said and went off to find the cereal and juice. “Mom, would you have Caleb have the car parked out front in oh say an hour?” “What’s the occasion?” asked Leanne as she put down her magazine. “I’m going to the salon and mall today with Holly, Isabella and Bridget!” Myra brought over the food to Riley. She started eating. “Yeah, mom.” Riley said as some milk dribbled down her chin. “The Stewarts are coming this afternoon. Don’t you remember?” “Uhhhhh…………no.” Riley said as she kept eating her cereal. “You remember the Stewarts. Your father’s old business buddy?” “Yeah, but what does that have to do with me and my shopping?” asked Riley nervously. “The Stewarts are flying in from Chicago and they are going to be staying with us until they find a home of their own.” “WHAT?!?!” Riley said dropping her spoon and splashing milk and cereal on the table. “I told you that they were coming three weeks ago.” informed her mom. “But mom, I have to go!!!” Riley yelled. “Honey…” she said looking at James for backup. He got the hint. “Riley, sweetie. The Stewarts have been friends of mine for years. They did me a favor and now it’s time I repay them.” James said looking dead at Riley. “But daddy, I’ve been planning this day for five months now! I just can’t drop out now!!” “Riley,” Leanne’s voice was stern. “You are not going shopping and that is the end of it!” “Urghhh!!!” screamed Riley and stomped upstairs! She made sure to stomp on the stairs and to slam her door with extra force. How could they do that to her!!! Now she would miss out on the mani’s and pedi’s along with the fabulous clothes and accessories and not to mention all the inside jokes and stories. Urghh!!! “Ahhh!! They are ruining my life!!” thought Riley. Party like a rock, party like a rockstar. Party like a rock, party like rockstar. Ahh, Riley knew that sound all to well. It was the sound of her Sidekick, saying “You have one new text.” in its own special way of course. Isabella: Rilz!! Can’t wait 2 go shoppin!!! =] “Ohh great!” Riley thought. “How am I gonna tell Isabella and the rest of the group that I can’t go shopping because I have some dork wannabe freak staying at my house for Gawd knows how long?!” at this point Riley was FREAKING out. Riley: Ya, about the shoppin…. Isabella: wat bout’ it?? Riley: I can’t go. =[ Isabella: WAT?!? Wat do u mean can’t go?! Riley had to think of a good excuse. She couldn’t tell the group about her secret….not yet at least. If word got out before she was ready to go public, her social status at Greenwood Academy for Girls would be ruined!! She could not risk her social status as seventh grade Alpha. Isabella: Rilz?? U still there? Riley: Ya, I’m here. Isabella: so wat bout the shoppin?? Riley: I can’t go, bcuz I’m spending the day with Mom. Isabella: u wuld blow off shopping w/Marc and Ralph for ur mom?? Riley: ya ttly!! Isabella: r u feeling k?? Riley: ya I’m fine! I promisd my mom I wuld help her decor8 the basement. Isabella: k. watev tho. Who will holly hold on2 when she gets ur legs waxd? Riley: not me. Lol. =] Riley: I g2g. Moms callin. L8r. Isabella: l8r. Ok, now that the shopping was taken care of she had to think of what to wear for the arrival of the dork wannabe freak. She wanted something cute yet chic. Something comfortable yet amazing. Something not to dressy but not to casual. Riley walked over to her closet and flung open the doors and went on a hunt. A hunt for the perfect outfit. “Since the weather is warm and sunny, either jeans or Capri’s would do nicely.” Riley thought. “Paired along with a t-shirt and the right shoes and accessories of course.” She dug through her closet on a search for a pair of medium wash blue jean Capri’s and a cute t-shirt. Clothes were flying every which way. But she never found them. “Hmmphhh. Where would those things be??” she said aloud. “I need music to help me concentrate.” Riley found her way out of the closet and turned on her stereo. Ashley Tisdale’s “He Said She Said” blared through the speakers as she began her hunt…again. Finally after what seemed to be eternity she found the Capri’s. She paired them with a blue and green Aeropostale shirt, and Jimmy Choo flip-flops. “Now what accessories?” Now she went to accessories part of her closet. She found a big, chunky green stone necklace and emerald studs. “Perfect!” She took the clothes and went to the bathroom to take a shower and get ready. She turned on the shower and let it heat up. She stepped in an breathed in the peppermint steam. “Ahhhhh…..” She took her shower, dried off and put on her clothes. Riley wondered what the girl would be wearing. She didn’t really know anything about her, except she was from Chicago or Ickcago, as Riley liked to put it. As for make-up, she put on a light coat of foundation, blush, blue eyeshadow, mascara and eyeliner. Along with her newest flavor of Liplicious Lip gloss, Cinnamon Bun. Yum! She glossed a few coats and admired herself in the mirror. “Not bad.” She brushed her hair and blow dried it with her ionic hairdryer. She pulled it half back with a cute clip. “You have one new mail message.” her computer said. Riley walked over to the computer when she heard a car door slam. “Uhh ohhh.” Riley thought. “They’re here.” her e-mails would just have to wait till later. She got up and made sure her room was neat and clean. Her bed made, and everything organized. Her closet was a mess but she would clean it up later. She checked her outfit in the full length mirror one more time to make sure it was perfect and it was as per usual. If her friends were here they would give her a 9.8. That reminded her to take a picture of her outfit to send to her friends.
“Good morning, dear!” smiled Leanne as she picked up her Latte and took a sip.
“Uhh….Riley….” Leanne looked at James for help.
