Fall Out Boy || We've Been Planning Something Big

Chapter 4 : Fall Out Boy || We've Been Planning Something Big || 04

Ever wonder what the back story to the "A Little Less Sixteen Candles..." music video was? This is the story that wasn't told, the story behind the one you saw. Welcome to a world where vampires roam the street, and it's either hunt or be hunted. Better watch your back, because dodging a dagger -- or a pair of fangs -- is a lot harder than it looks...

The young brunette was dozing on the cluttered surface of her desk -- or at least, there might have been a desk under the chaotic mass of papers. It was late at night and she couldn't stop herself from succumbing to sleep. A soft snore escaped from her lips; she was enjoying her much-needed sleep. That is, until the loud buzzing of her phone woke her up.

She jolted upright, looking for the source of the noise. After rescuing the phone from drowning in a sea of tree pulp, she picked up the receiver.

"Hello", she said groggily. She was not happy. Whoever was on the other line had better have a good reason to wake her up from her slumber.

"Hey, Jocelyn, it's Patrick. You said I would get my update today, but Dirty didn't show up yet. I thought that maybe something was up."

Joss sighed. "Oh, crap. I forgot all about it! I sent Dirty on another job. I forgot he was supposed to give you the update. Fuck! You know what, have someone meet me on Trinity Avenue in fifteen minutes."

"Someone will be there."

"Okay, I'll talk to you later, 'Trick." Jocelyn grabbed a light denim jacket from the leather couch and picked up a manila folder that was lying on top of the mountain of paper, ruefully realizing that she had to get off her ass and get some work done. She was one of the worst procrastinators this side of the earth.

As she left her office, the crisp autumn air hit her legs and she cursed herself for wearing a mini-skirt. What possessed her to wear that today?

Looking at the young 26-year-old thatwent by the name Jocelyn Roth, you would never expect her to be what she was. Hell, you would never find out what she really was unless she told you. She was a professional spy.

Joss could have been doing top-secret work for the government -- she was that good -- but she instead pursued her dream and opened up her own spy agency.

Joss stood in the light of the lone street lamp on Trinity Avenue. She hugged her arms around her chest, trying to ward off the cold. She thought back when she had first met the guys. That day changed her life.

It was known all over the city now. There was an enemy to the growing vampire community and they were known as the Hunters. Joss was looking to help these novices out in anyway that she could.

Jocelyn stood outside of a warehouse across town from her office. She looked at the small piece of paper she held in her hand again, comparing the scribbles to the address. It was a match. Joss confidently knocked on the large steel door.

"Joe, why dont you get off your ass once in a while?" Joss heard from the other side of the door. She couldn't help but smile a bit. A short man no older than herself opened the door.

"Can I help you?" he questioned.

Jocelyn took off the dark sunglasses she was wearing. Her long brunette hair tumbled over her shoulder. "Are you Patrick Stump?"

He had a confused look on his face. "Yes I am, and you are?"

Jocelyn stuck out her hand. "Jocelyn Roth, nice to meet you."

Patrick shook her hand. "Come in."

Joss stepped into the semi-lit warehouse. It had a junkyard feel to it, with old couches and beat-up tables that didn't match. You could definitely tell that there were only guys living there because of the state the warehouse was in. Soda cans and dirty dishes covered the tables, and shoes and socks were carelessly scattered across the floor. The place could seriously use a woman's touch. Or some air freshener.

"Now, how may I help you Miss Roth?"

"Please, call me Joss. Look, I heard about your little organization from a group a vampires and I'm impressed. Not many people have the balls to stand up to these guys. I'm happy someone has decided to take a stand. But so far you guys are just going on luck. You're lucky you haven't been killed yet. That's were I come in." She took out a card from her pocket and handed it to Patrick.

"Black Widow?"

"I'm a trained professional spy and I have my own agency on the other side of town. I'm offering to give you information on those undead freaks so you guys don't go fighting in the dark -- so to speak. I want to help you out."

Patrick gave Jocelyn a skeptical look. "What's the catch?"

"No catch. This is out of the goodness of my own heart. I just want to make sure you kill the vampires and not the other way around. There have been too many casualties already. I want to help give them what they deserve."

It took a minute but then Patrick replied. "Deal."

"Great!"

"Let me introduce you to the guys."

Patrick led Jocelyn to what seemed to resemble a living room. A young guy with short, scruffy brown hair was sitting on a beaten-up red couch that looked like it had gotten into a fight. His concentration was focused entirely on his video game. "Joe pause the game for a second."

"But I'm almo-"

"Just pause the game!" Pat was getting impatient.

Joe paused the game and gave an exasperated sigh. He turned around to face Pat and Joss. "Who's the chick?"

"Joe this is Jocelyn Roth. She's a new member of the team."

"I'm a spy," Joss piped up.

"Nice," he replied, and then he turned back to his game as if nothing had even happened.

"Nice team you have here, Captain," Jocelyn said sarcastically.

"They get better, I promise," Pat assured her.

Next, Pat took Jocelyn to a makeshift training room. There were a couple of mats laid on the floor and a punching bag hanging from the ceiling. "Hey, Andy, come over here!"

A guy with red hair down to his shoulders stopped his sword in mid-swing and turned to see Pat. He dropped his sword to his side as he walked over to meet the two. He wasn't wearing a shirt, and his skin bore many tattoos. "Who is this?" He pushed up his glasses; they were falling down his nose.

"Andy, this is Jocelyn Roth, professional spy. She's working for us."

"Great! Nice to have a woman on the team. Too much testosterone is never good."

Joss gave a slight blush and chuckled. Andy held out his hand. "Andy."

Jocelyn grasped it. "Joss."

Andy smiled. "Great to have you on our team."

Patrick led Jocelyn to a small room past his workshop. He flicked on the light, revealing that the only thing in it was a filing cabinet lying on the floor. "And finally our last member." Pat opened one of the doors to reveal a man sleeping with his arms crossed over his breast. His dark hair brushed across his face. "Wake up, Pete; I have someone for you to meet." Pete lazily opened his eye, and sat up in the makeshift coffin.

"What do you want, Pat?" he asked in an annoyed tone.

"Pete, I'd like you to meet Joss."

Jocelyn stuck out her hand to shake his. "Nice to-"

"Who are you, Pat's girlfriend?" he demanded harshly. "'Trick, why did you wake me up for this?"

"As a matter of fact," Jocelyn said indignantly. "I'm going to be working with you so you better get used to me."

Pete smirked. "What are you, our weapon girl?"

"No," she said with slight disgust. "I'm a spy."

Pete stood up in his coffin. "What do you know about vampires? Did you read
Dracula, maybe watch a few episodes of Buffy the Vampire Slayer?"

Jocelyn pulled back her hair, revealing two fading scars on her neck. "I was six. Unlike my parents, I survived."

"I guess we we'll make a good team then."

Joss could see the figure of a man in the distance. She squinted but still couldn't tell who it was. She shivered as another cool breeze brushed past her legs. She looked again and there was Peter Wentz, jogging towards the street lamp.

"Pete, do you own a watch? I've been standing here for twenty minutes!"

Pete brushed a few strands of hair out of his eyes. "I'm sorry, babe. 'Trick forgot where I was supposed to meet you, so it took him awhile to remember."

Jocelyn sighed. She handed him the manila folder. "This is what Patrick wants. Get this to him as fast as you can. And try not to lose it. If a vampire finds you with this information, you will be killed." Joss looked around at her surroundings. "I should go. I've got some things I have to do before the night is over."

Pete leaned over and kissed her cheek. "Sleep tight, Joss. Don't let the bed bugs bite."

Joss let out a giggle. "You too, Wentz." Jocelyn turned the corner not five feet away from the street lamp when she was stopped dead in her tracks. The smile was wiped clean of her face and she went deathly pale.

"Hello, lovely."
