We stood there staring at each other for a little while, me staring in to her soft smile, her staring in to my face which probably read denial, madness, and a little bit of desire.
"Am I right?" she asked. "Am I right about you loving Brendon?"
"No, that's crazy!" I exclaimed. "I don't love him, I just keep thinking about him a lot, and wondering when I'll see him again, and that's it. TOTALLY different from love."
"Yeah, that's definetely not love," she said sarcastically, rolling her eyes.
"It's not!" I said, getting mad at her. "Ok, so I like him a little. But not love!"
"Ok, fine, now I agree with you," she sighed. "You like Brendon. How did I know this would happen?" she asked herself.
"I don't know, how did you know, Violet?" I asked, starting to freak out.
"Remember how I told you once that I was an elephant in a past life, Lily?" I rolled my eyes. How could I forget, Violet had a theory that we were all wild animals in a past life.
"Well, what does that have to do with knowing I would like Brendon?" I asked. "Elephants don't see in to the future! They just have a really good memory!"
"That may be true," she started, getting off of her desk and going to the aquarium. "But I went to see a psychic a little while ago, and she told me that our past lives, we were all given certain powers, and I was given the power of foreseeing the future!" she said excitedly, throwing food in to the aquarium for Peanut.
"Violet," I sighed, "you're insane. Brendon said he would be seeing me 'soon', what does that mean? Like, how soon is soon? Come on, Violet, you know these things!"
Violet turned around from the aquarium, wearing an evil smirk on her face. "You're right, I do know these things," she said, walking over to me. "I know exactly what he means by 'soon'."
"Then tell me! I'm going insane here, I've never liked anyone before, and all you can do is stand there with your dumb evil smirk and stare at me!?" I said. I probably sounded like a psycho.
She stared at me for seven more seconds before laughing. "Violet," I moaned.
"Aww, I'm sorry, kid," she apologized. "I just love messing with you. Panic's last show for their tour is in San Francisco, tomorrow," she said. "Which means that they should be back home in two days. Happy?"
My heart fluttered at the thought of seeing Brendon in two days. Not two months. Not two weeks. Two days.
"And you know what else I know?" she asked me, running over to her desk again and pulling out a note padand a pen. She started scribbling something down on the notepad before I asked, "What?"
She pulled the sticky note off the top and handed it to me. "His number," she said proudly. "He told me to give it to you. And he told me to make you call him. Or else."
"Or else what?" I asked nervously.
"I don't know, probably nothing," she shrugged as shecollected her bag and other belongings to leave. "Brendon's just weird like that. It's ok, he's not gonna rape you," she said, noticing the look of worry on my face. "You better call, though. He sounded eager. Now come on, grab your things so I can drive you home!"
I grabbed my backpack and followed her out of the room, the sticky note with Brendon's number on it feeling like it had burned a hole in my hand.
