“Um,” Giselle muttered, “Alex?” She turned around. Giselle was far from Alex, she couldn’t even see him. “Oh,” She muttered.

“Do you need help?” A voice said.

“YES I DO! NOW IF YOU COUL-“

“Over here,” The voice said gently. Giselle looked around. The voice almost seemed to lead nowhere. Suddenly, something was thrown to her gut, causing her to fall back.

“Oh, hi,” Giselle nervously said. A woman was looking down at her.

“Giselle, you look different!”Gisele was puzzled, and it seemed the woman was, too.

“Err, do I know you?”

The woman thought for a moment, “Yes, and no.” She had light skin and long, flowing brown hair that was up to her waist. Giselle flinched as it reminded her of her own hair. The woman also had blue eyes, and there was a ring of a smoky, gray color around the blue of her eyes. It reminded Giselle of the smoke coming from the chimney, covering the blue sky.

“Ok, let’s get moving, eh?” The woman said. She pulled Giselle up, and started to drag her into the trees.

“Where are we going? What is-“It was the way the light hit the woman’s face that silenced her. It almost seemed as if, when the sun’s light hit the woman’s face, she was beautiful, but when a shadow was cast on her face, she just looked like a normal, pretty woman.

“We’re going to my house, and I can help you. I know what you need help with.” The woman said, “And, my name is Ala.”

“Ala,” Giselle repeated.

Soon enough, they were at what seemed to be Ala’s house.

“Sit,” Giselle sat down on a wooden chair, Ala’s house was small wooden cottage, similar to Giselle’s cottage in the woods. Ala walked over to a rather large bookcase. She pulled out a book with a feathery brown cover.

“Ok,” Ala sat down on another wooden chair across from her, “So, hair changes, eye color, eh, anything else?” Giselle hadn’t known that Ala was muttering to herself, and began to answer the question, “Well not that I know of,”

“AH,” interrupted Ala. “Shh,” Ala flipped through the book for what seemed like hours, until she settled on one page.

“Simple. You’re a-“She flipped the book closed.

“Um, I’m a, what?”

No answer. So Giselle took the book and asked, “What page?”

“There are no page numbers.” Giselle began to flip through the book. There was nothing on each page. Giselle was puzzled.

“There’s nothing in here!” Giselle yelled. But then, she saw something colorful. Giselle flipped back through the pages in search of the colorful object. It was a box, it was her box.

Giselle slammed the book on the table and pointed at the picture, “This,”

“Is the box one of servants gave you-“

“His name is Joseph,”

“Yes, yes.” Then, words started to form on the box.

“Abnor….” Giselle shrieked, “Abnormal?! WHAT THE HELL IS THAT SUPPOSED TO MEAN!? I’M SOME KIND OF FREAK?!”

Now, Ala was mad.

“Abnormality DOES NOT MAKE YOU A FREAK!” Giselle wasn’t listening though. She was too wrapped up in what was happening to her.

“JUST TELL ME WHATS HAPPENING!” Giselle stood up and slammed her fists on the table which caused it to violently wobble.

“If I tell you, will you get out of my house?!” Ala already knew the answer, so she continued, “You’re a fallon.”

A - Fallon?

Giselle could’ve guessed she was probably a pixie or fairy because she has actually heard of those creatures, but a fallon?

“What the hell is that?!” It was too late. Ala was furious enough and she was pointing at the door, looking down at the book which still held the picture of Giselle’s box. Tears streamed down Giselle’s as she left.

“Fine,” she whispered as she walked through the door, “Don’t tell me.”

When Giselle got back to her castle, she stopped about a yard away from the gate, just waiting. Then, she got what she was waiting for.

A hand grabbed her wrist and pulled her in the bush, again.

“WHOA,” Giselle yelled as the same bloody twig almost cut her cheek.

“You seemed to be waiting, was it for me?”

“Maybe yes, maybe no,” Giselle said, her voice cracking.

“Are you ok, is something wrong?”

“No, Alex, actually-“Giselle stopped talking and hugged Alex; he was surprised at first, but still hugged her back. Giselle just needed someone to hold her after what had just happened. She let go after was seemed like 10-20 seconds, and continued, “Something’s wrong with me!”

“What’s wrong, are you sick?”

“No, I’m a freak Alex!”

“MISS GISELLE!” Someone called. It sounded a lot like Mimi.

“I have to go,” And that was it. She probably was never going to see Alex again, unless he was always hidden in her bushes. She walked to the back of the castle, hoping not to be seen, and crawled in through the back door. She went to the front door and went outside again.

“Mimi, I’m right here!”

After a while Giselle was in her room. She had a sudden want to be on her roof. Giselle went up to her attic, in search of a window that could help her get up on the roof. Her eye spotted the only window in her attic.

Giselle opened the window, and a loud creek came from it. She stepped on the window sill, and looked for a way on. Then, she decided to sit, and dangled her legs down.

Twinkle, twinkle little sun, how I’ve wondered what you’ve done, guiding little birds that fly, making light into the sky,” Giselle sang, “Twinkle, twinkle, little sun, how I’ve wondered what you’ve done.” Giselle laughed, and then her smile fading as she saw something coming her way.

“What the-OOF!” Whatever was coming her way hit Giselle, and sent her flying almost halfway across the attic, which, as a matter of fact, was very big.

OWW-CH” Giselle had pain that started at her stomach - where the object had hit - and soared all the way to her head. She carefully got up and saw the thing that hit her on the window sill where Giselle was sitting.

She was amazed. That thing had made her fly across the room, while it hadn’t moved one inch from where it had hit her!

Giselle tried to walk, but ended up stumbling down to the floor. So she crawled. When she got to the window, she lifted herself up, putting her hand on the window sill to support her. She took her hand of the window sill and stood, looking at what had hit her.

It was a ball, but it seemed to be changing shape. It was gurgling, in some sort of way, sides bulging out of place. Edges began to form on the ball. Giselle picked the ball up, but something pricked both of her hands.

“OUCH!” Giselle yelled as she dropped the ball. When it hit the floor it vanished. Giselle was too amazed to recognize her pain – until her hands touched the floor.

“OUCH!” Giselle yelled again as her palms burned with pain. She lifted her hands up and looked at her palms. They had cuts all over them, probably due to touching the shape shifting object that had hit her.

Giselle looked out the window, careful not to put her hands on the window sill. Then, a figure appeared. Giselle’s eyes narrowed as the figure moved into a bush, and a smile spread across her face.

She ran to the door, forgetting her pain. Luckily, Mimi had not seen as Giselle ran out the door silently. Smiling, she ran into the bush without letting Alex pull her in.

“Hi, Alex,” Giselle greeted him excitedly.

“Hey, why didn’t you let me pull you in?” Alex asked.

“Eh, didn’t feel like it.” Giselle replied. There was a silence, and then Alex put his hand in its back pocket.

“Oh, um” He started, “I got something for you.” Alex said. Giselle’s face brightened and she smiled.

“Oh,” Giselle breathed.

“Here,” It was a rose. Giselle smile faded, and she took the rose, holding it with only the tips of her index finger and thumb. The rest of her fingers curled around the green stem, touching lightly.

“Oh – um, It -“

“Is there something wrong with it?” Alex asked, Giselle just kept stammering. Something was wrong, she just didn’t know what. “Oh,” Alex muttered, “Well, I’m sorry if you don’t like it,” Alex frowned, and Giselle did too.

“No! Alex, its fine, I love it,” Giselle pasted a fake smile on her face, “I was just surprised.” Alex’s smile appeared again, but weaker. He didn’t buy it.

And then there was another silence.

Giselle, still crouched, stared at the rose, frowning. What’s wrong with me? Giselle though, I hurt his feeling, and this rose, I don’t get it.

Then, she saw – in her head - the shape shifting thing that hit her, plunging toward a bush. Giselle’s ears twitched as she listened to something, ripping through the air, the sound becoming louder and louder. Her pupils widened, the vision of Alex looking at the ground in front of her became clearer.

“ALEX!” Giselle shrieked. She tackled him, pinning him to the ground. Then, a burst of wind flipped her hair upward, and Alex’s eyes widened, looking past her head.

“Giselle, did you see that?!” She was shocked, probably even more than Alex was. She was speechless.

“I don’t know,” Giselle said without thinking, “what was it?”
