But she was wrong.
The next day, the doctor came. “You seem to be alright, so you can get out of bed. But if your head hurts at any time, just take… These,” The doctor pulled out a jar of pills and handed them to Giselle, “They’ll help.” He said.
“Thank you, doctor.” Giselle thanked the doctor, he was soon gone, and when he was, Giselle got out of bed and took out her box.
“Time to get you on the wall,” Giselle murmured.
She got paste, and began to paste all of her pictures on the walls of her room. She had drawn so many pictures, that they used up one whole wall. She smiled.
Giselle wanted to change, so she took off her nightgown and put on a lime green dress and, her own style, blue pants. She looked in her mirror to see what she looked like, and gaped at what she saw.
She was in her electric blue dress again.
And she was covered in blood.
“Miss Giselle!” Mimi called, “Time for lunch!”
Giselle ran down the stair and went to kitchen. She saw Mimi, standing in front of the stove and yelled, “MIMI!”
“Yes Miss Giselle?” Mimi asked. “Oh, when did you dye your hair?”
“Mimi! What Are you talking about?!”
“Your hair, it is the color of sun-oh, and did you get a haircut?”
“WHAT DO YOU MEAN?!”
“Miss Giselle, is there something wrong?” Mimi looked frightened, so Giselle lowered her tone, “Yes Mimi, there is!” Giselle ran back upstairs into her room and looked into her mirror. She was glad to see she was still wearing her lime green dress and blue pants, but shrieked when she saw her hair.
“OH-NO.” Mimi was right-Giselle’s hair was the color of the sun, a bright, bold yellowish-orange color, and it was cut like a boy’s hair.
“BLONDE!”
Giselle’s eyes turned pink, and tears streamed down her cheeks. What the hell is going on?! Giselle thought. What was going on? First, Giselle saw herself wearing her blood smeared blue dress, and now, HER HAIR WAS SHORT AND BLOND!
She needed help.
So she broke the rule.
She was going to go outside, to the village in search of help
“Miss Giselle, where are going?” Mimi called after Giselle as she ran outside the door.
“Out,” Gisele replied.
When Giselle got outside of the huge, gold gates protecting the building, someone grabbed her wrist and pulled her aside.
“WHAT THE-“Giselle yelled as she was being pulled into a bush.
“SHH!” Someone whispered. A twig brushed past Giselle’s face and gave her a cut on her cheek.
“CRAP! What the hell is going on?” Giselle whispered.
“You shouldn’t be out here,” Giselle had realized that she had her eyes closed the whole time. When she opened them, she saw a boy, no more than 16 or 17, in front of her, his fingers clasped around her wrist. “You’re the princess.” He had brown hair that brushed his shoulders, and deep brown eyes. His skin was tan, just like Giselle’s.
“Yes, I am aware that I am the princess, and I need my freedom! I have almost never been out to the village and I’d like to-“The boy put his fingertips on Giselle’s face, and lightly brushed the blood off her face, this movement startled, and silenced Giselle. He moved his fingers up, and wiped her face.
“You’ve been crying,” Said the boy. Giselle lowered her face, and tried to wash any wet tears off it, “Oh um. Well-“
“Don’t worry,” He silenced her again, “My name is Alex.”
“I’m-“
“Giselle, yes I know.”
“Oh, um,” Giselle blushed, and gave a weak laugh.
There was a silence, and finally, Alex asked, “What are you doing out here?”
Giselle‘s eyes widened, and she asked, “Do you notice anything different about me?”
“Well,” Started Alex, “I’ve heard your hair is long and brown-and I’ve seen it myself, too. You go out into the woods a lot.”
“Oh well I do-“Giselle forgot what they were talking about, but then, “Ok, my hair-“
“Um, Giselle,”
“Yes?”
“I think your eyes changed its color.” Giselle gaped at Alex. She jumped up and out of the bush; Alex followed her, “Where are you going?”
“I’M GOING TO GET HELP!” Giselle yelled. Alex stopped there.
