Under the Full Moon (Byakuya Kuchiki) #1. Intro

Chapter 3

It’s been 2 days since Byakuya Kuchiki and Adazakura came back from the mission. As soon as they returned, Ada was placed under medical care, because of her bad injuries. She got better pretty soon and already walked around a bit, but still was kept in medical quarters. Byakuya visited her once when she was asleep, so, she didn’t know about his visit. Most time awake she spent talking with Renji, who came by to visit her, ad her captain – Shuhei Hisagi.

- You need to get some rest lieutenant Amai, - Unohana-taicho said softly, - You still haven’t recovered completely.

- But Unohana-taichou, I feel fine, really. – Ada defiantly didn’t want to stay in quarters anymore.

- When you fully recover, you’ll be free to go, but while you’re still here, you have to go and rest. - Retsu smiled to Ada, and went on her way. Ada sighed and turned back into the room, she hated staying there.

Later that day, while Ada was relaxing on the bed, Byakuya came in. He looked as indifferent as ever. As he walked into the room, Ada turned her head to discover Byakuya looking down at her with his cold gaze.

- Kuchiki-taichou..? – she sat up as quick as her state would allow her.

- How are you feeling, lieutenant Amai? – Byakuya asked, sitting down in the chair beside Ada’s bed.

- I’m well, thank you, - she replied, looking down at her bandaged arm.

- I see, - said Byakuya, pausing for a moment, - I want to ask you something, - Ada looked questioningly at Byakuya, - That time back at the forest… that man… What did you do..?

- I… I’m not sure, - said Ada with a hint of confusion, - It’s just something I felt like doing… - she turned her head, looking out the window.

- I see. – said Byakuya, standing up, - Get better lieutenant, - with that he walked out the room.

- Thank you, taichou, - said Ada quietly as Byakuya closed the door behind him. “Indeed, what was it that I did…?” she thought to herself as the event of that calm night in the forest flashed in front of her eyes, “What happened…?”.

For the rest of the day she couldn’t think of anything else. As the night started to come over Seireitei, Ada started to drift off to sleep, but as soon as she did so, the door opened. She woke up from a soft voice calling her name; somebody was taping her on her shoulder, shaking a little. Ada opened up her eyes and saw Renji, he smiled.

- Hey Amai! – Ada looked at him with annoyance, and was about to shout at him for the disturbance of her sleep, - Sorry to wake ya, - he said smiling softly, - I just came by to say goodbye, I’m being dispatched into the real world.

- Huh..? - she looked at him with a look of still processing the information, - For how long?

- I donoe, it could take a while… Well, anyway, you get better here! – he smiled at her, and kissed her on forehead (Ada and Renji were pretty good friends despite the fact that she wasn’t much of a people person).

- Bye Renji, - she said, watching him leave. “Why though…?” she thought to herself, closing her eyes, “must be something important”, with those thoughts she drifted off to sleep.

Byakuya was sitting in his office; just few minutes ago Renji was dispatched into the real world. But Byakuya’s mind was in some other place at the moment; he couldn’t stop thinking about what he’s seen back in the forest and that night flashed before his eyes. “That light…” he thought, remembering how the blue light has appeared when Ada touched that man’s chest. “There’s just something about this girl…She is different…” with those thoughts Byakuya left his office and went home.

In a few days Ada was “released” from medical quarters and she finally was able to return to her normal life of vice-captain with tons of paperwork.

That’s just great! – said Ada, when she walked in her office to find big pile of paperwork waiting her on the table, - On the other hand…It was not that bad staying at medical quarters… - she said, putting her hand behind her had.

- Is that so? – she heard voice behind her and turned around to find captain Hisagi standing in the door way and smiling at her.

- Hisagi-taichou! – she obviously was glad to see him.

- Welcome back, Adazakura – he smiled, - Now, don’t push yourself too hard, ok? You shouldn’t overload yourself.

- Hai, captain, - she replied with a smile, - But I still need to do a lot of paperwork and better not to put it aside.

- Well, take it easy, - with that Hisagi walked away.

“Yeah, right”, thought Ada picking up first piece of paper, “Like that’s gonna happen”.

For next two weeks all Ada did is do her paperwork, occasionally she would take a break to eat, and then she’d go to sleep. It really started to get boring and she even thought of taking a day off until she heard that something was happening in the real world, something to do with “creatures” called Baunto. Soon after, Rukia was dispatched to the real world. Not long after, Ada and few other shinigami went to the real world to help dealing with Bounto, who became quite a hassle.
