Dark clouds rolled in and covered the sky. Gentle snow fell onto the unsuspecting plants. That snow would turn into a blizzard later on but that was later this was now. From far away all you would have seen on the white hilltop was a black smear. More closely and you see that it was a women. Not frolicking in the snow but just laying there letting the snow gently cover her. She was not ill and she didn’t mind the snow. She wasn’t sure why she had ran out into the cold snowy hills but they always did seem to sooth her.

She let out a long breath letting it form into a puff of white smoke above her. Blinking, the snowflakes fell off of her eyelashes and evaporated as they hit her hot cheeks. Her cheeks where stained in dry tears and her already red eyes where now blood shot. She did not bawl but rather let herself silently cry for a good hour. She had known this was going to happen but she never wanted it to happen.

Kaname Kuran was supposed to be hers. She felt so selfish saying that but it was what he had promised her. Their relationship was a secret. The only person who knew was Ichijo and he found out by accident.

“I will be yours forever Mari, If you will always be mine.”

An innocent promise that he promised her he still meant even now that they where grown up. Kaname Kuran had warmed her heart and now frozen it back into a block of ice. It wasn’t fair. She felt as if she was 10 again and she was crying to her mom that it wasn’t fair that she couldn’t have the doll she wanted.

She let out a ridged breath and swallowed the tears that where trying to come out once again. She knew all the rules about purebloods. How that it wasn’t uncommon for siblings to get married and she knew that since she was a pureblood she could have been forced to the same fate. It was just that he wanted to marry Yuki. He chose Yuki before anyone else and that was the fact that Mari could not comprehend.

“Damn it!” She sat upknocking the innocent snowflakes off her body. She furiously wiped the new tears from her eyes.

“I hate this, I hate him, I hate yuki, and I hate myself.” Pulling her knees closer to her chest she buried her head into her knees and began crying again. Why couldn’t he have just left her alone and never gotten romantically involved with her. He knew his fate since he was born and still he taunted her with false statements of love.

“I hate you Kaname Kuran.” She whispered into her knees between sobs.

“Is that so?” She whipped around to see the devil himself walking up the other side of the snowy hill.

“What do you think?” She glared back at him. He started walking towards her. His face covered in sorrow and angst like usual but this time there was something else. Maybe it wasworry or it very well could have been anger.

“I’d advise that you don’t come near me or I might be forced to smear this beautiful snow with your blood.” Her eyes showed pure hatred but that hatred only covered up the extreme hurt.

“You wouldn’t do that Mari.” Kaname continued to walk towards her unaffected by her threat.

“What makes you so sure?” She stood up to face him resisting the urge to slap him.

He did not respond he only continued towards her. His aura was filling up the air around her. It only made her even angrier that she couldn’t read his aura like usual. He stared down at her his eyes blazing in emotions.

“Why can’t you just leave me alone?” It was one of the many questions that had been haunting her.

“Because I love you.” He grabbed her hand. She ripped her hand out of his and slapped him straight across the face.

“You have the audacity to come out here and say that to me! Why are you doing this Kaname? You cannot have both me and Yuki and you’ve made it pretty clear that you have picked Yuki. So why don’t you just let me live and die away from you.” She started walking away from him back down the hill.

He appeared in front of her and grabbed her pulling her to his chest making sure her arms where securely at her waist.

“Let me go!” She banged her head against his chest trying desperately to break free of him before she started crying again.

“No.” He held onto her tighter. She continued to struggle for a good 15 minutes.

“Please please let me go.” She was crying into him now. He would always do this. Come along when she was in a blind rage and calm her down but this time it was different. She was not going to just back down this time.

“No. I have explained to you what I feel for you and what makes you think I will just let you slip out of my world.” He pulled her face out of his chest and stared her directly in the eye.

“Yuki.” It was the trigger word that set off all their problems. Kaname froze giving Mari the chance to break free of his grasp.

“That’s exactly the problem Kaname and you know it. You always knew your duties yet you felt it was necessary to lead me on to believe that you loved me. You never loved me because you have always loved Yuki. I was an easy play thing and nothing more. You where just going to continue getting sexual thrills from me till Yuki finally fell for you or figured out she was a vampire. The stupid thing is I realized months ago that you where using me but what I let you continue. So Kaname don’t feel all the hurt because I was stupid enough to fall in love with your pompous, cynical, cold ass.” She turned around and began trudging down the hill.

“You think it’s that simple?” Kaname didn’t move from his spot. He didn’t even look at her.

“Ya I do.” She stopped not facing him.

“Well that how do you explain this?” She felt his fangs on her neck. She froze. He knew how sensitive her neck was when touched the right way.

“Lust.” She closed her eyes and kept telling herself to keep calm.

He grabbed her waist roughly pulling her into him. He was losing his cool with her both mentally and physically.

“Kaname let me go.” She kept her voice strong while inside she was shaking like a leaf.

He didn’t respond he only sunk his fangs into her neck slightly drawing a few drops of blood some of which fell to the snow below. A tear fell from her eye.

“Kaname please don’t do this.” He licked her neck gently not responding to her cries.

“Kaname stop!” She found her strength and broke free of his grasp. “You can’t keep doing this! You can’t have me! Don’t you understand! You have your duties to Yuki and I can’t be the other women any more!” She had finally said it.

“What if I want you to be my women?” She stared at him bewildered.

“I would call you a lying fool.”

“Well than call me a fool.” He slammed his lips onto hers so hard that they fell back into the snow. She raised her hand to slap him again but he grabbed it before she could act. He had her pinned and helpless to his touch. The falling snow halted with the rest of the world. For a few mere for moments, Mari lost her sense and enjoyed the kiss. It was so perfect yet completely wrong. Her alarm started going off again and all of her previous thoughts came rushing back into her head along with her self control.

“No Kaname.” She pulled away from his lips but he persisted.

“Kaname no.” She pulled his head away from her. “This is where it ends.”

“No I won’t let you go.” He kissed her neck.

“But I will.” He stopped and pulled away from her neck.

“The truth is Kaname I will always love you but.” She paused and looked him straight in the eye.

“There is no way you and I can ever be.” She leaned up and kissed him lightly on the lips. She gently pushed him off of her and stood up.

“This is goodbye Kaname Kuran.” She reached out her hand. He stared at her hand un- moving.

“I’m not saying goodbye to you Mari.” Mari lowered her hand.

“What shall we say then Kaname?”

“Promise me that when the day comes that I can love you freely again you will be waiting for me.” She pondered his response for a moment or two. She walked up to him and stared up at him into his red eyes.

“I won’t wait forever.” Whipping around she headed off away in the other direction. Not really knowing where she was going but knowing that in her heart their will always be a small chance that he could be hers. And all a person ever needs is hope,
