Oh Highschool Love (Chapter 1)

Part 3

Lounging on her bed the next day it dawned on Alexa that she didn’t know where Jake was taking her that night. Daydreaming of a picnic under the stars or a moonlit walk on the beach she decided she better pick out what she was going to wear. She finally decided on her black tank and black pinstripe pants. By the time eight o’clock rolled around she was more than ready. She heard a diesel truck coming up the driveway and raced to the window to see a red truck speed past her driveway. She sighed loudly and plopped down into her chair. Turning on her computer she checked her emails and her favorite radio station’s blog then called Andy and read a magazine.

Half an hour later and six diesel trucks later, Jake pulled up. She sprinted and grabbed her purse which she had gone through and cleaned out twice while waiting for him. She jumped down the stairs and stood poised at the door waiting to open it. Jake got half a knock in before she flung the door open.

“You really need to stop doing that.” He teased.

“Sorry. BYE MOM!” She yelled closing the door behind her.

“Bye! Have fun! Lov-” She closed the door before she could finish.

“Ready?”

“Yeah” Alexa replied with a smile. She was still breathing hard from sprinting down the stairs as they walked over to his truck. Jake opened the door for her which made her blush. He slid in next to her and pulled out a blindfold.

“Put this on.”

“Why?” Alexa asked accusingly.

“Surprise! DUH!” He said in mock annoyance. She smiled and looked up to see Andy up in her window giving her two thumbs up. She laughed and put on the blindfold. When they reached their destination he opened her door and took her hand as she gingerly stepped out of the truck. Gravel crunched under her feet and a sweet smell tickled her nose. He held her on her hips sending a tingling sensation throughout her body. He started guiding her towards the surprise.

“No peeking!”

“I have a blindfold on!”

“Yeah, but still!” He said. Alexa sighed a little annoyed. She didn’t really like surprises. He guided her farther and after she tripped over several rocks he finally said that they were there. He removed her blindfold and she opened her eyes to a sparkling wonderland. They were at the local lake, but the cherry blossoms were in bloom and the moon was like a spotlight on the lake. She stood there for several seconds looking out on the lake taking in the sheer beauty and tranquility. She finally looked back at Jake who was smiling at her. He took her hand and they started to walk slowly around the lake. They walked in mostly in silence except for when Alexa would breathe in the sweet cherry blossoms and sigh in satisfaction.

Suddenly he took her off the path around the lake to a grassy area overlooking the lake. They sat down close to each other with his arm wrapped around her. A slight breeze picked up and she moved into him. She was only wearing a tank top! He sensed this and wrapped his other arm around her and pulled her close. She felt his warmth envelop her and she held her breath and closed her eyes and focused on the feeling inside her. It felt like the sun was radiating in her chest. A slight blush broke out on her cheeks and she laid her head on Jake’s shoulder. It was getting late and they reluctantly started to head back to Jake’s truck. They hadn’t said much all night, but they’d said it all.
