The doctor left the room after speaking with James and Caleb. This was going to be hard on all of them, James and Caleb losing their only parent left and Elizabeth losing the only mother she ever had, since her parents died in a car crash when she was little. Caleb was teary eyes as he stood on the other side if the bed bear Lacey and James stood behind Elizabeth, one hand on her sholder letting her know he was there, his face showing no emotions.
Crying, Elizabeth kept coaxing Lacy not to give up. "Come on Lacey old girl, you have to stick around to see your grandchild born and grow up. Don't leave when we still need you, I still need you." Clasping her hand around Elizabeth's with the strength she had, Lacey looked up at the one girl that had become the daughter she never was allowed, the one that calmed her eldest and loved him, the one that gave her other son manners and non-rebel behavior around girls and the one that was giving her world the next heir. "Elizabeth, I've lived my years, i'm around five thousand or more years old and it's time for me to go. I'll be here when that baby is born although you may not see me i'm there. I'm glad it was you that became my daughter and the one woman that truly loved James for him and nothing else mattered but your love for him. James, when I go, you know you must step up with Elizabeth and take everything into your hands. Don't let anyone take it from you. Guide each other and love each other through the long years. Caleb, my youngest. Watch out for Elizabeth with your brother. Never stop being the rebel you are and find yourself a girl."
Those were her last words, she wsa gone.
Cleb broke down and cried, his head buried in the bed. Elizabeth sought out James for comfort as she cried more. James was neither crying nor seeking comfort but offered it to Elizabeth, whose face was buried in his chest crying. A great burden had just been placed upon his shoulders. He had to keep order with vampires, angels, demons, werewolves, every one that lived in their world now obeyed him and Elizabeth. Everything was happening all at once. Elizabeth, his father dying, returning home,a party,a baby, a wedding, Elizabeth kidnapped, getting her back and her almost dying on him, now his mother's death and now he was ruler.
