Chapter 3 : .Renaissance Of a Forgotten Past. 3:::Photograph

At that moment...I didn't know what was happening to me...
I walked up to random buildings entering them with no sound. It was like a completely different part of Konoha; there were no loud advertising merchants, no children running and their laughter did not fill the sky, no clear blue sky...but there was an eerie yet welcoming feeling towards this place.
And so everyday since my stay in Konoha, I've been returning day after day...
I remember there was someone else here too...
I heard singing and a lonely voice.
A voice of purity. But I didn't run. I didn't hide. I just enjoyed the company; I enjoyed her songs...but I never sung along. Because if I did, she might run away.
The rest of the time I trained in solitude; readying myself for the chunin exams. Personally though, I've never really had any experience at fighting as a single unit...I was always with my team mates or a Sensei.
But that's when I realized I was very dependent. There was so many things for me to do. But finally it was time, the sun began to set, the sky lulled into a favorable color, and my body was once again leading me...it began to rain.
The familiar landscape and the song soon sung once more. This time other than just sitting on the front stools I was guided into a large manor. It was more traditional than other houses...the sliding door creaked as I opened the door. I slowly crept in and asked for entry...no reply.
The place had no lights but the shaking of thunder. I made my way through several rooms already... The first had a large table; the living room maybe. There was a very depressing sagged gray wall color. I didn't like that room and I still don't...it was the only place I found disgustingly horrid in this whole community.
No dust.
The second was kitchen, it smelt of sweets and delicious food...there were dirty dishes all over the counter. The shining water was still dripping. People must be still living here the place is kept very neatly. No dust again.
I took a left...the door was locked. I took a right this time...out of the silence came a creak. My senses went wild and I screamed. Simply to say...It scared the skin off of me...but luckily it was just gravity working of the rotting wood. My heart soothed against the pitted patter if the rain once more and began walking.
The doors slide open this time; a large bedroom with milky white walls that weren't as depressing but still aged in colour and vibrancy. My feet carried me to the nightstand; where a small but noticeably lovely blue picture frame stood.
Yet...the picture was missing, supposedly it had lost its purpose.
There was nothing else in the room except a lingering feeling. I hitched out of there as soon as nothing else caught my eye and the rain beginning to lighten. The next thing I ran towards was a small bedroom, the windows were open and the room was untouched unlike the rest of the manor.
Dust dangled everywhere in sight.
The room had been trashed through as if someone was in a hurry to leave...and there was again another homemade frame, it was red this time though... still no picture. The room next door had strange locations for windows and was untouched also, but not as messy. The room seemed to be cleaned but not lived in. But on the bed I noticed there sat a pair of barrettes. It was fashioned interestingly similar to the rest of my accessories; with white crystalline wings with gold.
My hands traced over them for a second, a gust of wind blew by me as I noticed that picture...the missing picture. It was for only a second but I can explain in detail... There were 2 parents and 2 brothers...they looked like a perfect family. Each of them crowned with darker than black hair and gracious eyes.
The whole family looked perfect...wait what I meant was that the mom was beautiful and lovely, the father was strict but pleasant. The two brothers looked like their father, the younger was carefree and cute; the older one seemed to bare a burden though...he was smiling but it didn't seem real. And that was it...I panicked shortly after sensing someone's chakra, running away from the chakra and out of the place...there was still a light drizzle outside, I guess I should have to just run between the rain droplets.
The next thing I knew I was being cornered; the person was most likely the house owner and most likely know this place on a larger scale than I do. “Ai...” someone's voice trailed off...My eyes whipped from corner to corner; finding nothing but rain looking over my shoulder. I was still holding the picture... Now I know I'll have to get out of here...
I stared at the photo one last time before being engulfed by the darkness.
“Temari-sama hasn't returned yet...where has she gone?”
My voice echoed through the large room.
“I don't know; Kankuro and Sensei are looking for her.”
“But-”
“There is nothing for us younger ones to do. The chunin exams are tomorrow and we are to look after each other until they return.”
And that Gaara-sama didn't like the rain; or water...
“Shouldn't we be looking for her also? We won't be able to enter the exams without a full unit.”
After that came silence as I felt him enter sit beside me, we both stared at the window. And talked about other topics as the thunder and lightning fought for domination of the night sky.
The light shone in as I found Gaara still beside me. He still hadn't left my side; maybe more people would befriend him if they knew him like I do.
If only he had more friends than just me. Just me was never enough...I found myself with Kankuro staring straight at me.
He knew something about everything, and everything about something.
“Temari's taking a shower; she'll tell you what happened.”
“Thanks.”
Sometimes I think Kankuro can read minds but then that would be just a little too much wouldn't it?
I started to drift back into a dreamy state again, because I was waiting for their safe return...
“Get ready for the exam. We're going for food then straight to the exam.” He whispered to me.
I jumped on my feet and began to prepare...
We were walking down to the ninja academy, there were no genin in sight and this was the only path to the academy...but Kankuro; being all excited just suggested that the other genins were just early.
“So Temari-sama, what happened?” My voice rang through my ears...it sounded weird.
“What do you mean?” She eyed me as if hiding something, teasing me perhaps.
“Last night.”
“Ya what about it?”
“What happened?”
“I was caught in the storm last night.”
She was obviously bluffing, the sand storms we encountered were more of a hassle than these ones here in Konoha.
“Tell me all about it.”
“You sure? It might creep you out of your skin.” Her teasing tone rosed my curiousity. “Tell me everything.”
“Hmm...let's just begin with Sasuke; you know that cute boy we met at the ramen place?” I nodded and listened attentively not wanting to even miss a sigh.
“Err, um...he ran up to me when I was done shopping and on the way back.
He mummbled something, but I couldn't hear him against the rain. He seemed really tired from chasing me though.” Her cheeks flared and heated up at the conversation of the boy...was this supposedly 'love'?
“But when I began to talk to him he was furious and yelled at me.
That's when Kankuro and sensei found us though...We were so loud that a scene might have started.”
There was a long silence before she continued her story.
“We had this huge argument. After I finally understood what he wanted...he said that I broke into his home and stole something important to him. I never went into his place before, I don't even know where he lives. Believe me... Then he said he recognized my chakra. And followed his way here.”
I opened my mouth...just to close it again. I didn't have enough courage or reasoning to tell her that it might have been me not her that did it. I felt so bad about it...we didn't talk for the rest of the way.
