A Vampire Saved My Life! GREAT! - But at what cost? ~1~

"Hello my pet… you can call me mistress…" Matic barely heard the words through the pain ringing in his ears.

Natasha stood in black with every one around her. She watched as the coffin lowered into the ground. Silent, numb tears fell from her weary eyes. Kyle stepped forward to speak.

"Matic…" He paused, looking at Natasha's broken face. "Matic was my brother, he was great. He could light up a room with just one smile." Smile… god, how she missed his smile. "He was loved by many… his death was a true tragedy… and he will be sorely missed." Kyle lowered his head, having nothing else to say. Natasha took a shaky step forward. She bent and picked up a handful of dirt. She moved her small hand over the grave and watched as the dirt drifted down to fall solidly on the coffin. She let her hand fall to her side, she lifted her other hand, which had held a red rose since the begging of the ceremony, she let it drop down. She looked down to see the shining black coffin. She forced her self to turn away before she threw her self in with him. She walked through the crowd, needing to be alone. She found herself walking back to the mansion, her head was in a daze…

Matic was gone… The werewolves took him from her… because of them she didn't have a husband… her child wouldn't have a father… her child would never know the great man he was, would never get to feel his protective arms, never be pushed on a swing, never taught how to walk or read, never warned to be careful, never kissed goodnight. Natasha missed his kisses, missed his arms, his love, even just his presence. She missed all of him. Natasha's hand rested subconsciously on her large, pregnant stomach as she walked. It wasn't fair. They took him from her, they took her future from her. They couldn't just get away with it. Matic had made a treaty between them, they wouldn't kill humans or vampires and they would live in peace. They had broken the treaty, they didn't deserve peace.

Natasha reached the mansion and marched up to her room, she pulled out her leather uniform, she stripped of her black dress and started to pull on the black leather. I barely fit up her one leg; there was no way the pants were going to fit on her enlarged, very pregnant body. She threw the pants over her shoulder as she tried to put on the leather top. There was a nock at the door. Natasha didn't answer.

"Natasha, I'm coming in." Nicky said from the other side of the door. She opened it to see Natasha squirming to try and fit the leather on to her body. "NATASHA! What are you doing?!"

"I'm trying to get dressed in this piece of crap!"

"Why?"

"I'm going after them, they can't get away with his death, they violated the treaty! They killed my husband! I will have revenge!" Natasha threw down the top, frustrated that it wouldn't fit.

"Natasha! You cant."

"Why not! They killed him!"

"I know, but you're pregnant!"

"That's exactly why I have to go! I'm pregnant with a child that doesn't have a father! I can't! I can't let them… I cant… I love him! I- I need." Tears poured down her face as she hunched over, angry with her self.

"Natasha…" Nicky stepped closer to her.

"Get out!"

"What?"

"You said he would be fine! You said everything would be fine! When the battle was going on, you made me leave! I could have done something… I could have saved him… I-I could have." Natasha sobbed, her gasps of air cutting off her sentences.

"No, you couldn't have… none of us could have done anything. There was nothing we could have done to change what happened." Nicky rubbed her hand on Natasha's back. "If you go after them now, Matic would have died for nothing. He loved you. He wanted you safe. If you go out and get your self killed, along with the baby… he would have died for nothing… I promise, after your child is born and you have your strength back we'll go after them… We'll take the whole coven with us. We'll crush them into the ground for what they did. Natasha turned and wrapped her arms around Nicky, her sobs and tears having no end. Nicky held Natasha, comforting her the best she could.

"I miss him so much, Nicky… I just want him back." Natasha sobbed out.

"I know… I know." Nicky whispered back as she continued to hold Natasha and rock her back and forth. Natasha pulled away from Nicky after her eyes refused to cry anymore. Natasha's head was down as she spoke.

"What am I gonna do with out him?"

"You're still the queen of this coven. You have a life here that you have to take care of… And you have a child coming. I know it hurts right now, I know that everything you do is empty and useless, but you have so much to live for. You have to remember that." Nicky's hand glided to Natasha's jaw, lifting her face up to meet Nicky's. "You still have so much life in you, don’t give up." Natasha swallowed back the lump in her throat as she nodded slightly. Natasha grimaced as the child inside her kicked. She didn't have to live just for her own life now, she had to live for her child's as well… she had to be strong.

"Four more weeks and we'll go after them, I promise… Matic will be revenged."

"Four weeks." Her child would be born in four weeks. Matic's child would be born… He would never get to even hold his own child. Natasha drew in a shaky breath and beat back the tears.
