Saviors of the World
Chapter 4 : Saviors of the World (4)

I was led over to a black car and put in the backseat. The car was locked so I couldn’t get out. Apparently they had something to do. The car locks were some of those that go down in to the door and bars kept me from getting to the front seat to unlock it. It wasn’t like I was going anywhere. I needed to get to my brother. After about ten minutes they returned towing someone with them. It was Michael. He was thrown in back with me. “What are you doing?” I hissed at him. “I didn’t do anything. I was just looking for you and they jumped me,” he explained. Stefen and the other man got in to the front seat and started driving. Why the heck did they jump Michael? I didn’t ask. We didn’t drive back to the house that I had been brought to the first time. This time we were brought to a place that looked like it used to be a hotel of some sort, in the middle of no where. It was run down. The windows were broken and some missing. What ever paint was on the outside was peeling off. It looked like a dump. The car stopped and the two got out. Stefen came around to my side and got me out, probably knowing I would be easier to handle. The other guy grabbed hold of Michael and bound his hands behind him. We were led in side and down in to the basement. It was dark except for the few lights that did line the hallway, giving off barely any light. At one door, we stopped and Stefen led me in, while the other guy led Michael further down the hall. James was laying down on a cot of some sort sleeping. Stefen left and locked the door behind him. “James,” I whispered to myself. I was so happy to see him. I went over and shook him to wake him up. It took him a minute but he finally sat up. “James,” I said happily, hugging him. “Good to see you,” he mumbled. We pulled away and I sat down next to him. “What are you doing here? I thought you got away.” “I came because they were going to kill you if I didn’t,” I explained sadly. “Well now they can kill us both,” he said angrily. “We’re the ‘saviors’. We’re supposed to kill them. They don’t want that to happen. They’ll gladly kill us first.” “I don’t care. I needed to see you. I needed to tell you…” I stopped what I was going to say. I didn’t know if I could. “Tell me what?” he asked confused. “James, we’re…orphans,” I said before bursting in to tears. It was too new for me. I didn’t want to have to tell him. “No…that’s not possible. They said that they were better off,” he said shaking his head. Better off? Only if they mean by dead. He hugged me and we both sat there, crying and thinking for minutes. We stopped when the sound of the door unlocking caught our attention. Michael was shoved in and the door slammed shut behind him. “Michael,” I breathed walking over to help him up off the ground and led him over to the cot where James was sitting. “Are you okay?” “Yeah, I’m fine. Just a little…bruised,” he responded wincing slightly when he shrugged. “Aysel, who’s this?” James asked. “Michael. He’s one of the guys who helped me escape before,” I explained to James. He nodded. “How are we going to get out of this? I’m not staying here,” Michael growled. I shrugged. “Do you see any way out?” James asked motioning to the room. There was only the door, which was locked, and a window. THE WINDOW! It wasn’t that high up. If one of us made it through, we could lift the others out. “James help boost me up to the window,” I ordered walking over. It seriously was big enough. It was about three feet long and about a foot and a half high. Big enough for all of us to get through. The only problem was getting to it. “It’s too high up,” he complained but coming over anyway. He put his hands out for me to put my foot on. Once my foot was there, I pushed up. I reached up, only to fall a few inches short. “Damn it. I almost made it. Just a few more inches,” I said as James put me down, exhausted. “Michael. We need your help.” Michael looked over at me like I was crazy. “How the hell am I supposed to help?” he groaned walking over. “One of you to get on the ground, the other stands on him, and then I get up from there,” I explained. I had no clue if it would work, but hey, its worth a shot. “And who is supposed to be the one on the ground?” Michael growled. “I will,” James offered. I guess he just wanted to get out. No arguments. Just get it done and go. James got down on all fours on the ground and Michael climbed on top of him. I walked over and crawled up. I could feel James shaking on the floor. This seemed like a bad idea now that I was being lifted feet off the ground being held up by my shaking brother. I grabbed hold of the window and yanked it open. It took some pulling but I managed. “Hurry up,” James groaned from the ground. I grabbed on to the window seal and hoisted my self up and crawled through the window on to the soft grass outside. My arms hurt and I let them relax for a second. “Hello? Are you going to help us now or what?” voices came from the window. I went back over and leaned in. Michael grabbed my hands and I pulled him up. When he had hold of the window I let go and only helped when ever necessary. It took him a minute to get through and when he did he laid down on the grass breathing hard. “That’s a workout,” he mumbled to me laughing. I smiled at him and leaned through the window again to get James who was waiting. I reached down and couldn’t make it. Suddenly I felt myself being lowered a little and looked back to see Michael helping me. I was finally able to grab hold of James hands and we slowly started pulling him up. When he had the window seal I let go again and helped out when needed, like with Michael. Once out, we sat there on the grass for a minute. “How do we get back to where Sky and Braydon and them are?” I asked Michael. “You trust me right?” he asked suddenly. I looked at him confused. “Yes…why?” I asked. James was looking at him weird. “Because the only way I know to get back…safe…is through the forest, which is not safe,” Michael explained. “Oh,” I responded. I looked at James who nodded. “Let’s go then, before they find out we’re gone.” We ran in to the forest following Michael. We traveled for what seemed like forever and got no where. The trees were starting to look the same and it was getting dark. I started tripping over the random roots that stuck out from the lack of light. James had a hold on my arm the whole time to make sure I didn’t fall flat on my face. “Are you sure this is the way we go? It didn’t seem like that long of a drive,” I asked worriedly. Michael stopped and turned around. “Okay, listen. We can either keep traveling in the dark and make it by midnight, which is the safest choice. Or we can camp out and hope we aren’t found by anyone or anything,” Michael said completely ignoring my question. “Keep going. I’m not going back,” James answered. Michael nodded and we continued our journey in the silence that we had been traveling in before. After another hour or two my feet were sore and probably blistered. I was tired beyond belief. I could hardly keep my eyes open. I tripped over another root and just let myself fall, but was caught by James who was still staying close to catch me. “You okay?” he asked concerned. I could barely see him in the dark. All I saw was the darker outline of him next to the trees. “Yeah, I’m fine,” I mumbled continuing on. Michael had stopped ahead. We walked to catch up. “What’s the matter?” James asked. “Nothing,” he said smiling. He pointed to the ground. “You know what that is?” I stared at it for a moment and saw nothing but pitch black. We both shook our heads. “That’s the road. The house is five minutes through those trees,” he said happily pointing across the street. Thank god. My feet were going to fall off. We ran across the road and walked quickly through the trees, trying to get to the house ASAP. I just about died of relief when the house was in front of us. We ran up to the door and rang the door bell over and over. I heard footsteps running to the door. Sky, Braydon, and five others were there. “Your back!” Braydon yelled happily hugging Michael. I stifled a laugh as Michael shoved Braydon away. “Where have you been?” Sky asked as we walked in the house. No one responded until we made it to the couches and sat down. My feet were burning. “While you guys were eating dinner, Aysel here got herself captured by Stefen and me as well,” Michael explained. I didn’t care. I was too tired. I laid down on the couch and listened as the boys talked, argued, and what not.
