If looks could kill {I would've died a million times!}
Chapter 8 : Thou shalt not call him Darry Queen
Back to Ambers P.O.V. You ate the food he had set before you. He terrified you. One look that looked displeased and you would cower in a corner. You hadn't meant to lean towards Blake, it just happened. And Derek looked so mad. You decided not to push your luck because he didn't seem like a very happy person. The one laugh you heard was one sorry one. It really made you made that he hid his real self behind a wall. Still, he talked to you as if you were a dog, or a child, nonetheless.
You didn't only feel scared and mad; you also felt a little pity. You knew you could get his real self to pull through. But why did he need to act all aloof and unfeeling around people? He obviously had power, but with that came a price. His family obviously discouraged him showing any emotion. You should be mad at them and not Derek but still...he acted as though you were stupid and a kid. He even treated you like you were a puppy and you wouldn't stand for that! So you mustered up some courage and sat the food aside, standing up.
"Who do you think you are?!" you yelled with no restraint. Derek was obviously surprised as you had his full attention. "I am not your god damn puppy! I am not your pet or slave and I will not allow you to speak to me as thought you OWN me! Because you don't! You think you are so high and mighty, huh? Well, I think you are only so high because you force others to stoop down to make you feel as though you're in charge! Do not ever speak to me like that again!" You stood firm and his look of shock turned top anger.
"I'll talk as I'm damn well to!" he yelled. You slapped him hard across his face and his eyes narrowed. There went your courage as you shrunk in fear.
"I'm-"
"What? Sorry?! Do NOT ever raise your hand or even voice for that matter to me! As far as I'm concerned I DO own you! You will do as I say, when I say, and no questions asked! I am in charge and you are not! Do you hear me?" When you stood silent he backhanded you. You nodded. "You will speak your answers!" he demanded.
"Yes, Derek."
"I prefer Master. What do you think?" It was a rhetorical question.
"Yes, M-Master..." You shivered and he smiled, but not a smile you would like to see.
"Good. Now come. And bring your dishes down." He left the room and you scrambled after him. He obviously wasn't easily intimidated.
You followed Derek down the stairs all while keeping your head down. You felt the gaze of everyone, but didn't look up.
"Derek..."
"Shut up, Blake. Amber and I are off to find her some clothes. I expect everything to be in order when we get back. I quite honestly couldn't care less about what you do while we're gone, but make sure the house stays clean."
Blake sighed. "Yes, sir." Derek walked out of the room and you followed just as silently as you were the whole way. You ignored Blake's whispers to you and went out the door Derek held open for you.
You rode in silence, staring at your feet. Neither of you even attempted a conversation. He kept his hands firmly on the wheel and kept his eyes locked on the road, not a single glance at you the whole trip.
He pulled into a parking lot and only then did you look out the window out of curiosity. You saw a line of stores and you looked over at Derek only to see he wasn't in the driver's seat. You heard the click of your seat belt unbuckle and you looked over to see him standing beside you, helping you out. You took his hand and walked to the store.
When you walked in you gulped. Derek noticed and snorted, but squeezed your hand to reassure you nonetheless.
"Just stay by me and no one will lay a finger on you." He sounded as though it was obvious.
"Okay." He almost commented on you not saying "Master", but he dropped it and pulled you to a rack of clothes as the vampires there watched in shock as Derek pulled you by the hand and kept you close.
'Why exactly is it so shocking?' you wondered to yourself. Derek sighed.
"Because you're a human and I am very well known. No more questions." He grabbed some clothes and dragged you into a dressing room. He gave you a dress and stood in the corner. You just stood there.
"Umm..."
"What?" he asked, irritated.
"Are you staying in here?"
"Why wouldn't I? You are mine, are you not?"
"Right, Master." You turned to the wall and hesitantly changed. You heard him give an irritated sigh.
"Are you going to let me see anytime today?" he asked. You blushed and turned to him. He walked up and ran his hands up and down your form. He was seeing if it gave justice to your body. He nodded slightly and you shivered when his hand ran down the high slit in the dress.
"I like it," he decided. And you did too. It was simple, yet elegant. He handed you another outfit: a black tank and a plaid skirt. You turned to the wall again and he rolled his eyes. He did the same thing with the dress before and nodded yet again.
After trying on everything the only thing he didn't agree with were the baggy camo pants you had picked out. You were disappointed on the inside, but it was his choice: well, it should've been yours, but you'd rather not anger him.
He lead you to another store and to another rack of clothing. You sat down as he rummaged through everything. Wasn't it supposed to be the other way around? You looked up and saw Derek standing in front with a rather fancy crimson and black dress. You stood up and allowed him to drag you into the dressing room.
This dress was a bit more complicated. It had criss-crossing black spaghetti straps, showed your mid-back, and was a crimson red dress that went almost to your ankles. You stared at it, facing the wall, as you tried to figure out how to get it on.
"Technical difficulties?" you heard Derek ask. You sighed and nodded. You heard the creak of the chair he was sitting in as he got up and the foot steps. They stopped and you saw arms go around you and grab the dress. He turned you to face him and you blushed, seeing as you were only in your bra and panties. He didn't seem to notice how uncomfortable you were because he just put the dress on over your head. He fixed it on and put the sleeves as they were supposed to go. He looked down at you and his eyes scanned you. You turned to the mirror and gasped. It was so pretty. You saw arms go around you in the mirror and felt yourself being pulled into his arms.
"Mas-" you tried to say, but Derek shook his head and just held you. You began turning bright red and he leaned you up to look at him. Of course, he towered over you and you felt so small. He leaned in and just when you thought he was going to kiss you he just froze. You could feel his breath on your face.
"Come on." He abruptly let go and lead you to the register. You allowed him to drag you and just stood as he paid. The woman bowed and he bowed back. He pulled you out the store and put the bag's in the trunk. He allowed you to get in and he buckled your seat belt before going to the driver's seat.
The ride was going in silence and you didn't like it, so you decided to at least try at a conversation.
"So....Why do people respect you so much?" you asked. The car stopped at a red light. "Master." That seemed to get his attention.
"No big deal. I'm just royalty is all. So what?" he asked as though it was everyday you hung out with a prince.
"So what?" you gaped. "Is it cool?" you asked as the car started moving.
"It has kicks, I guess." was all he said. You nodded.
"How come I haven't met your family, Master?" you added.
"They live in the main house. The house we are currently staying at is just one of the many places Father owns." He shirked it off.
'Geez. Just trying to make conversation!' you thought. The car turned and it pulled into a gravel driveway. You looked to Derek.
"You want to talk, do you? You want to pry into my life and you want me to answer them happily as though I secretly desired your meddling words?" It kind of hurt and it only showed in your eyes.
"I didn't mean to pry" you whispered. He sighed irritably.
"How about we talk about you now? We've heard enough about me." You almost protested, but that would be questioning him.
"Okay, Master." He nodded.
"Okay then...What of your family?" he asked. A sensitive subject.
"Well...um...I only grew up with my mom. Dad died and my twin died prematurely. I have a step-brother somewhere, but mom divorced my step-father when I was little. I think his name was Rick and he was like 19, the step-brother, I mean. I guess I never liked my life. I downright hated it. The only thing that kept me alive was the fact that my mom needed me..." You looked down.
"Hmm..." But he kept going. "Okay, so what was Jake like to you?"
"You mean you? Well, Jake was my bet friend really. I told him-you-everything. Whenever I was sad I'd run to you and it was like you were actually listen. You were the only one that did. I valued your life even more than my own. I guess I loved you..." You regretted saying the last part but it came so easy, like when you told Jake everything on your mind. "You were like my diary, but I wouldn't ever have to read my sad story ever again, you'd just keep it and I'd get it off my chest." You sighed deeply and by then realized that you were in the middle seat and was leaning on his shoulder.
"Sorry!" you apologized, sitting up.
"No, it's fine." His arm met your back as you scooted away. You stopped moving and looked out the window.
"Where are we?" you asked. The house was even bigger than his other one.
"Right. I was taking you there today to put your clothes here and meet the family. We'll be moving back in shortly." You nodded and once again you looked over to see Derek unbuckling your seat belt.
You smiled and walked with him to the door.
"Wow..." was all you said as he opened the door. He smirked.
"Father? Mother? Kira?" he called. "I'm home!"
All of a sudden you saw a girl that looked to be 7 jump onto Derek's back. He laughed a little and sat her down.
"Mommy! Daddy! Big brother's home!" she cried out.
"Big brother?" you asked as a man and woman came in.
"Hi, Derek" the woman said, hugging him. The man nodded and ruffled his hair.
"I missed you Darry Queen!"the little girl you presumed to be Kira said, laughing. He groaned at her.
"I'm not Darry Queen, sis. I'm Derek." he tried to explain. She just stared up blankly.
"I love you Darry Queen!" she jumped onto his back.
"Darry Queen?" you asked, holding a giggle down. He rolled his eyes.
"Shut up! She's weird, okay?" he yelled, waving his arms frantically.
"Ouch...Act like I'm not here..." Kira jumped down and walked up to you. "Are you Derek's lady?" she asked. She looked so cute. You kneeled down and ruffled her hair, laughing.
"You are so adorable!" you exclaimed, hugging her. She looked up to everyone.
"I like her!" Kira yelled. His mother and father laughed and Derek sighed.
"Oh god...There's two of them. I'm seeing double." He acted as though he was going to faint. "But we're not ready to move in yet. I have to go get all of the stuff at the house and get the others. They can still stay, right?" He looked like a kid begging his parents for money.
"Of course. They're always welcome. If they're your friends, then they're ours too!" His mom strode out the room followed by his dad. Kira smiled and waved before following.
"So Blake and them are your friends? And they live with you?" you asked.
"Yeah...but they have homes, too. And don't think that it means that you can go all over Blake. You're still mine, got it?" he asked.
He had to ruin a good moment, didn't he?
"I understand Master."
"And how about you call me Derek from now on?" he asked, leading you up the stairs.
"Much obliged!" You hugged his neck as he dragged you through the house and giving you the tour, not that it helped because you would get lost anyway. You followed him to your room to put your clothes in the closet. And by your room, I mean Derek's room that you and him would share.
He led you out the house and back to the car.
"Be back shortly!" he yelled. You and him went to go get everyone.
