If looks could kill {I would've died a million times!}
Chapter 6 : The party begins
"It smells great!" you said happily, eating some spaghetti. "You've outdone yourself yet again, mom!" She smiled and sat down.
"So...you and this Blake guy?" She waited for you to finish the sentence, which didn't take long.
"Are just friends!" you blurted out. She shrugged and walked out. You swallowed the spaghetti and thought about what just happened. You could feel the way his body felt against yours and you blushed. He sounded like he meant every word he said. Maybe he wasn't like all the other guys.
You crawled into bed early and all you could think about was Blake. You fell asleep easily for the first time in years, but you never heard Jake-though curled up with you-snoring or showing any sign of sleeping. What was up with him lately? He knew he was the most important man in your life, right?

"Honey! Wake up! You have never slept in before!" your mother called. You groaned and looked to the clock. Jake looked at you with sleepy eyes and he yawned, lying back down. You kissed him on the nose and then it dawned on you.
"Holy hell!" You had ten minutes to get ready! You grabbed your clothes and threw them on. You were out of your room in two minutes and you ate breakfast as quickly as possible. You ran out the door with one shoe untied. "Love you, bye!" you yelled, slamming the door. You tripped over your shoelace and fell.
"Can you walk at all? You looked up and saw his gloating smile. "Well, love?"
"Yes. But I am running late."
"Late? I always leave at this time and am never late." He pulled you up and tied your shoe. "Come. I shall help you, love." You almost questioned him, but felt him pick you up and put you on his back.
He was a fast sprinter and a good endurance runner because he sprinted the whole way. You arrived at school just as the first bell rang.
"Well, is that a cute couple or what?" Haylie said as Blake helped you down.
"Suck it," he said as he walked over to Mack and Kaleb. You laughed and Haylie smiled.
"Can't wait till tonight!" You said happily. Her smile faded a little, but it brightened again.
"Yep!" she exclaimed, hugging you. You laughed as the both of you walked to class. You sat down beside Blake and he put his arm around your shoulder, making you look at him.
"I'd rather you not tell anyone about what I said last night and what I did." Blake said quietly. You nodded and he smiled. "Well then, can't wait until tonight."
"Hey! You know what we should do? We should play Truth or Dare!" Kaleb suggested. Everyone started talking about it and through the whole period. The teacher didn't notice because she was practically deaf.
During gym you played soccer. Blake was good at that, too, and he kept helping you make goals. Your team won one and lost one game. The third game was discontinued. Next was language arts and during that you were supposed to read, but all you guys did was pass notes. During social studies you actually paid attention because you kept getting yelled at. Lunch came and Blake sat next to you.
"Hey, Amber, I need to ask you something," Blake whispered.
"What?" you asked, wondering if he was going to ask you out.
"I just...I need to know if you trust me." You looked at him funny, but nodded. "And, don't freak, but do you like your life? Did you ever wonder what it'd be like to live with someone that some people don't believe in? And if someone you trusted were to give you that different life, would you hate him for it?" he asked.
"Um...I couldn't leave mom alone. She's all I have. I love her. I don't completely get it." You didn't understand him at all! Was he asking you to live with him?
"Don't worry about it. Just trying to get to know you. It doesn't matter." With that he turned to Mack and Kaleb and talked to them about something that you couldn't hear because they were whispering.
The bell rang and everyone separated except you were still with Haylie and Kaleb and Blake.
"Hey, Amber, I need to ask your opinion on something," Haylie whispered.
"What?" you whispered.
"I think that Kaleb wants to...you know...tonight. And I don't know what to do. I love him and everything, but..."
"If you love him then it's fine!" you whispered, smiling. "He obviously loves you, too." She smiled.
"Thank you," she whispered, hugging you. You hugged her back. It wasn't a problem. You saw Blake look at you funny and then to Kaleb who couldn't take his eyes off of Haylie. He looked back to the teacher, getting it.
Eventually you were all heading to his house. Haylie was on Kaleb's back, Val was on Mack's back, and you walked between Blake and Raychel. Blake didn't let you on his back, but he did walk close enough that your bodies touched and he let you lay your head on his shoulder. Haylie was almost asleep and Raychel was looking at her feet. You passed your house along the way because he lived only a few houses down. You heard Jake growling and barking, but ignored it. He could survive one night without you. You walked into a driveway and you realized how big the house was. It had six stories!
When you walked in Kaleb led Haylie up the stairs. You smiled and she did, too, happier than before. You waved and looked to Blake. He met your gaze, but looked away. You smiled and walked over to Val and Mack who were sitting and watching the big TV.
"So much for Truth or Dare" you said, watching the TV.
"It'd be no fun without Kaleb, trust me," Blake said, putting a hand on your leg. You shrugged, blushing a little. "Hey, Mack, why don't you and Val play a game?" he asked. Mack winked and pulled out the game we played at my house. "Strings?"
"Oh, yeah!" Mack said. "Hey, Val. Loser has to do whatever the winner wants. Whatever!" he repeated.
"I'm game!" Val said.
