Kiss of the Night I

Chapter 15 : Kiss of the Night XIV

Mkayz, this particular chapter is dedicated to MidnightSummerLove, cuz I haven't gotten any messages strictly about this story until now, and no one asked me to continue other than FrozenInIce, but that was because I asked what he thought I should do. Anyway, thanks sooo much! It made my day sooo much better!

"I get the point. Just the music on your iPod."
"Yes, just the music on my - why do you know what's on my iPod?"
"Found it in your pocket." He produced a small black rectangle from his sweatshirt pocket and toyed with it idly.
"And what were you doing going through her pockets?" Alvar came in.
Dracen shrugged. "I got bored." All was quiet again, except for Ren trying to get iPod back. The others watched, amused.
Then, "Can I go to my room, now?" she asked.
"That was random..." Zevi said.
"About that..." Dracen began hesitantly.
"Yes...?" Ren's voice had a hint on dangerousness behind it.
"We, ummm...we heaven't totally made arrangements for your room, so...so Nibal wanted you to stay in my room. I argued that I was already giving you my clothes, so you should stay in someone else's room. He said it would be easier to give you my clothes if you were in my room. We argued for a while, but I eventually won. You'll be in Thorne's room."
"Thorne...the one that never speaks? Cool. At least I won't have to endure someone like...um...Pyralis, was it? Didn't seem like I would get along all too well with him..."
"Not many do," Alvar chimed in. "Most people are just irritated with him. Stefan is really the only one that doesn't want to kill him on a daily basis. Thorne was only with him because Stefan was dragging him along, too."
"I can take you to Thorne's room now," Dracen cut in. He lowered his chair back down to all four legs, then stood up. Ren, Zevi, and Alvar all stood as well, and Keeran pushed off from the wall to follow the group out.
Dracen again led the was through the labrynthine passages, and they soon heard a whiney female voice floating down the hallway.
"...but why not? I'm the only female around here, not to mention the only one worthy of you. I'm royalty, and, face it, you can't resist me...Why don't you say anything? Argh, you know how much it bothers me when you're so silent like that!"
The voice continued as Zevi said, "Great. Uttara's trying to get in Thorne's bed, again. That bitch never gives up. Now we're going to have to listen to it, again."
They rounded another corner and came upon a short corridor with only one door about half-way down its length. There were two people standing by the door, and Alvar groaned at the sight. The man was dearer to the door than the woman, wearing a pure black hoodie with a Motley Crue decal. He had dark jeans and his raven hair was of medium length and slicked back. His arms were crossed over his chest. His face looked utterly bored.
The woman was in a long, flowing, pink dress. The sleeves were short and puffed, and gold ribbon was everywhere on the whole of the dress. She had long golden hair that hung below her shoulders. She looked distressed, and she was clinging to his arm.
As the others approached, Thorne's eyes lowered from the ceiling to meet Dracen's. They flickered to the others, then he sighed and pushed the woman aside. She began to protest, but was quieted by a look from Thorne. He opened the door, which Ren now saw said Cool Ankh, and stood back for them to enter. They did, and when the girl tried to follow, Thorne held his arm out to stop her. She began to pout, and he entered the room and shut the door. They could all hear her stomping down the hallway. It was quiet for a while, then Zevi laughed.
"When are you going to get rid of her, Thorne? Jeez, she's a pain in the ass." He laughed again as he sat in one of the chairs along the wall to their left.
"I don't think he can get rid of her, to be honest," Alvar commented. "Wait...yeah, he could. If someone else were to - " He stopped abruptly and looked at Ren. Both she and Thorne glared at him evilly.
Michelangelo, who the others had forgotten, looked at Thorne for a moment, concentrating, then said, "Let's go, guys. We should let Ren get settled in."
Zevi began to argue, but Dracen agreed and walked to the door, hitting the side of Zevi's head along the way.
"He's right. Let's go." He turned to Ren. "I'll come back later to help you learn your way around here." She nodded as he opened the door. He motioned the others out, followed, and shut the door with a snap.
Ren examined the room more fully. There were three chairs along the left wall covered in black leather. The walls were black, with a metallic crimson paint spattered across. The carpet was black, and there was a rug in the center of the floor in the shape of an ankh. There was a design along it, made of roses and thorns, and beside it, against the far wall, was a couch covered with leather the color of drying blood. There were candles on tables around the room, which were casting the only light. In one corner sat an enormous stereo system. Speakers were strategically placed around the room for perfect acoustics. A bookcase stood beside it, every shelf filled with CD albums.
Thorne walked over to the couch and flopped on the left side. "You'll sleep here until you get a room of your own," he said. He had a quiet, deep voice that Ren wasn't expecting from him. He picked up a small remote and pushed a button. Motley Crue blared out of the speakers as he motioned for her to sit on the other end of the couch. She did, slouching down and sprawling out across the cushion. Her head moved in time with the music, and she sang along perfectly, yet unconsciously. He was doing similar motions.
After awhile, the album ended, and Thorne turned down the volume as it began again.
"Sorry about Uttara earlier. She's so clingy. She's been trying to get me to be with her for the last century. You'll have to put up with her, though. She's just as much a part of our representatives as I am."
"...'ashes of dreams and blood-stained streets'...It's cool. You can't help what she does...'So come now, children of the beast, be strong, and shout at the devil'..." He nodded once and was silent. They listened to the album three more times through before there came a knock at the door. They looked at each other for a moment before Ren rose to open it, but then Thorne stood and shook his head at her. She sat while he answered the knock.
"Is she ready?" a voice asked from the hallway beyond. Ren recognized it as Dracen's, and stood as Thorne turned to her and motioned toward the door. She went to him, and passed witha nod as he stood back for her.
Dracen was standing in the center of the hallway, and nodded to both Thorne and Ren when she came out. Then he turned and walked swiftly away. She almost ran to catch up.
He named off doors they passed, and she tried carefully to remember halls and doors. She more or less succeeded.
They neared anarea she vaguely recognized after awhile, and he abruptly stopped. She looked around and saw a door to their left labeled with the symbol for the Followers of Set.
