CHAPTER ONE

"Do you miss/ lookin up/ from the floor/ at my face on a stage in a crowded room/" My body coursed with adrenaline as I gripped the mic, my lips centimeters away from the black dome. "Oh its not the same/ I bet you're still a sucker for those famous faces/" I sang to the mess of sweaty limbs which was the mosh pit, grasping a hand that groped desperately for mine and clinging to it as I screamed. We needed each other. These kids and my band. The girl whose hand I was clutching had tears running down her face, her body almost convulsing with the music. I grabbed her by the hair and sang into her face, our noses touching, and she screamed the lyrics along with me. More hands were reaching for me, trying frantically to grab some part of my body, and I released the girl to clutch more hands and touch more faces. I was alive.
