Amberheart; A love story cursed from the beginning
Chapter 4 : Amberheart 3-Even If You Don’t Like It
Recap: Amaya is working for Neji now... HAHA!!! It’s funny!
-Amaya’s bedroom-
Amaya’s POV
I woke slowly, stretching luxuriously. I got up and got dressed quickly. I knocked on Neji’s door. The
door swung open slightly.
“Shukun-sama?” I called softly. No answer. I walked over to his bed and leaned over him, shaking him gently. “Shukun-sama, wake up!” Suddenly, his arms reached up and pulled me on top of him. I squirmed uncomfortably. “Shukun-sama!” I hissed. He slept on. Finally, I got annoyed. “WAKE UP, EARTHWALKER!!!” I screamed in his ear. His pale eyes snapped open.
“AH!! I DIDN’T POUR THE HOT CURRY DOWN YOUR BACK, LEE!!!!!” he yelled. I stifled a laugh.
“Shukun-sama, now that you’re awake, could you let me go?” I asked. He blushed lightly when he saw our position. He released me swiftly, sitting up. I had no time to react, and I fell into his lap. I blushed fiercely and stood up.
“So... why are we getting up?”
“So that when Lee-san comes to get us, we won’t have to listen to him yell at us while we get ready.”
“Makes sense...” he said. “Then let’s get ready. We should hurry. Lee will be here any minute.”
“Hai, Shukun-sama,” I said.
“I’ve asked you not to call me that...” he sighed.
I bowed my head. “Gomen, [sorry] Shukun-sama...”
Neji sighed again. “I guess you won’t stop... Just go... oh, never mind, you are ready... I’ll get ready. Just wait for me, okay? And if Lee asks, I should be ready any second.” I nodded.
“Hai.”
-Ten minutes later-
“Lee still hasn’t come. I wonder why...” I mumbled.
Neji shrugged. “Let’s just go. I don’t want to be late.”
“Okay, Shukun-sama,” I said.
We walked down the streets of Konoha. The sun wasn’t even up yet. We got to the training grounds with time to spare. Gai-sensei arrived momentarily.
“Amaya, Neji, where is youthful Lee?” he asked, not yelling for once. I shrugged.
“I don’t know. We came here on our own today.” Neji told him. Gai-sensei frowned.
“It is very unlike Lee to be late for training...” he murmured.
“He isn’t late yet, though! Tenten isn’t here yet!” Neji protested.
“How is that relevant?” I asked.
“Tenten is always right on time,” Neji informed me. I nodded.
“Ah...” I said softly. Right at that moment, Tenten arrived.
“Where’s Lee?” she asked.
“We don’t know. Maybe he’s at home...” I suggested.
“Lee would have to be unconscious to miss training... or dead,” Neji sighed. “Which do you think?”
“Probably unconscious. Lee-san wouldn’t just up and die in the middle of the night.”
-Lee’s house-
“Unnnnnnngh... gotta... get to... training...” Lee muttered.
“Lee-san, are you nuts! You’re sick as a dog!” I yelled. “Get in your bed this INSTANT, Lee-san, or you won’t be able to train for months!” Lee obeyed promptly. Everyone stared at me. “What?”
“You got Lee-kun not to go to training... without an argument...” Tenten said slowly.
“So?” I asked.
“He won’t do that for ANYONE, not even Gai-sensei...” Neji told me. I shrugged.
“I can be very persuasive...” I smirked.
“What’s that supposed to mean?” Neji asked suspiciously.
“That’s for me to know and you to MAYBE find out,” I teased him. He sighed.
“Whatever...” he muttered noncommittally. I sighed.
“You’re no fun... Alright, Lee, drink this. It will make you get better faster.” Lee obeyed wordlessly.
“Again, that’s creepy...” Tenten muttered.
“Lee-kun hates medicine with a fiery passion...” Neji agreed.
“He won’t take it unless Gai-sensei stresses of its utmost importance to his overall youthfulness...” Tenten finished.
“Maybe he sees sense,” I suggested. Neji and Tenten looked at each other briefly.
“Nah,” they said in unison.
“There’s no way. You must be some kind of hypnotist,” Tenten said jokingly.
“‘Speak softly and carry a big stick,’” I quoted. They all stared at me. “It basically means be nice, but make sure they know you can beat them within an inch of their lives,” I explained. Neji nodded.
“Don’t act like you knew that, Neji-kun, you were as clueless as the rest of us!” Tenten scolded.
Neji shrugged. “When the opportunity arises, take it decisively.”
“If you say so, Shukun-sama...” I sighed.
“DON’T CALL ME THAT!” Neji hissed.
“Neji-kun, explain,” Tenten said.
“She’s working for me in exchange for staying at my house, and I’ve asked her to stop calling me that but she WON’T!” Neji exclaimed in exasperation. Tenten looked at me for confirmation and I nodded.
“I see...” she said thoughtfully.
“Lee-san, I will help you get better!” I told him happily, going into his kitchen. “Tomatoes... tomatoes... tomatoes... Ha! Here they are!” I exclaimed. A few minutes later, I sat on Lee’s bed and spooned warm tomato soup into his mouth.
“Thank you, Amaya-chan, you are truly youthful!” Lee said, smiling.
“You’re perfectly welcome, Lee-san!” I said happily, giving him more soup.
“It’s very good soup!” he said after the next spoonful. I smiled widely at him.
“Thank you, Lee-san!”
“You should make the food when we go on missions!” he told me. I blushed.
“I’m not THAT good...” I mumbled.
“Are you kidding me?” Neji asked. “She’s an amazing cook! She made some great dumplings last night!”
“I’m telling you, Neji-san, I’m not as good as you say I am!” I said, blushing fiercely.
“You’re all of that and more, Amaya-chan...” he murmured.
“Wow, I’m feeling great!” Lee said, sitting up. I placed a hand on his forehead.
“Your fever is gone, and it looks like you’re all better. I guess that medicine worked faster than I thought it would!” I said cheerfully.
“So, Amaya-chan, am I okay to train?” Lee asked eagerly. I shrugged.
“Well, you seem like you’re back to your youthful self, but if you start feeling bad, let me know, and I’ll make you more soup.”
“Thank you, Amaya-chan!” Lee grinned, giving the ‘nice guy’ pose. I smiled back.
-Training grounds-
I sat back with Tenten and watched Lee spar with Neji. Gai-sensei got right up in my face.
“Why aren’t you training, youthful student?” I gulped and gave him my carefully manufactured response.
“I’m improving my youthful relationship with Tenten, and analyzing both Neji and Lee’s fighting styles,” I told him.
“YOUR YOUTHFULNESS NEVER CEASES TO AMAZE ME!!!” he exclaimed. I sweatdropped.
“Thanks... I think...” I muttered.
I saw a raven haired boy, a blond boy, and a girl with pink hair. What the heck? Is she a mutant or something? PINK hair?! I wondered.
I walked over to them and tried to say hi.
“Hello! My name is Nari Amaya. I’m new to the village, so pardon me if I don’t know who you are.”
“My name is Uzumaki Naruto, and I’m gonna be the next Hokage!” he yelled. I smiled at him and ruffled his spiky blond hair.
“I hope you will,” I said.
“I’m Haruno Sakura,” said the girl with pink hair. I smiled awkwardly. Her aura was a flamboyant hot pink, combined with a hint of pastel green. Great, she’s obsessed with a guy, and she’s passionate about him... Joy... I pick the most wonderful times to be nice...
“I am Uchiha Sasuke,” said the raven haired boy.
“What, do neither of you have a dream you want to achieve?” I asked.
“I...um...” Sakura stuttered, glancing at Sasuke. She has a crush on emo boy?
“I want to avenge my clan and then restart it,” Sasuke said emotionlessly.
“Well, that’s cheerful, isn’t it?” I asked.
“Do you want to go out later tonight?” Sasuke asked bluntly. I blinked
“Um, sure, I guess... I’ll have to check with Neji first, though...”
“Why? Does he own you?” Sasuke asked.
“Yes, he owns my soul. I sold it to him for a green balloon,” I said sarcastically. Sasuke gave me a ‘don’t give me that’ look. “Fine, if you must know, I’m working for him. I need to see if he needs me for anything.”
“Ah,” Sasuke stated.
“Neji-san!” I called, running toward him.
“Yes?”
“I’m going on a date with Uchiha Sasuke later tonight! Do you need me for anything?” I asked.
“No, but I’d rather you didn’t go with him,” Neji replied.
“Why not?” I asked.
“I don’t trust him. He’s an avenger. He’ll do anything for that.”
“Oh, come off it! It’s just a date! It’s not like I’m marrying him!” I told him lightly. “Even if you don’t like it, I’m going to have a little fun tonight, and I mean that in the least possible perverted way. You know, have dinner, maybe dance a little, and then come right home. I promise I’ll come back alive, Neji-san,” I said, holding out my little finger. “I’ll chop off my wings with a blunt kunai if I don’t.”
“If you don’t come back, I’ll know who’s responsible,” he replied, glaring at Sasuke.
“I’ll be FINE, Neji-san!” I turned back to Sasuke. “What do I wear, when, and where am I meeting you?” I asked.
“Casual, 6:00 tonight, come to the Uchiha compound,” he said.
“It’s a date!” I said, smiling.
[Sakura: *growl* She’s going on a date with MY Sasuke? Me: How the heck did YOU get here?! Sakura: Same way Lee did. Me: And that would be how? Sakura: Not telling! You: Seriously, go away! It isn’t a Sasuke love story; it’s for Neji, right? Me: Yup! Don’t worry; you have a shot at Sasuke in this story... I’ve always been a bit of a SasuSaku fan... Not that I even like the stupid guy at all... *Bleach!* I HATE snakes... Anyway, tune in next time for Amaya’s date with Sasuke! Over and out!]
