Recap:
He walked to the nursery, and saw James through the big window. Harry walked in and picked James up gently, holding him close.
"You already remind me of Iris," Harry whispered. James woke, but remained calm and rested against Harry's shoulder. Harry smiled and rubbed his son's back, as he took him back to Iris' room.
Hermione smiled slightly as Harry walked in holding James.
"Has she woken?" Harry asked.
"No, she hasn't even moved," Hermione replied sadly. Harry sighed and took his seat again, craddling James. Hermione gave him a sympathetic smile. "Harry, I'm sure she'll pull through," she said. Harry just stared at Iris' sleeping form, as James began to fuss.
"I really hope so," he said.
End of Recap
It had been a week. Harry had taken James home, and was trying his best to be a good father, but it was rather difficult. Parenting was strangly overwhelming for him, and the fact that he couldn't get Iris off of his mind, didn't help at all.
Iris hadn't even stirred from her deep sleep. Harry would sit by her almost constantly, falling asleep with her hand in his many a times.
When he was with Iris, James was either with him, or with Hermione or Oceane. Mostly Hermione though, since Oceane spent a lot of her time with Fred, and Hermione and Ron were preparing for children. Besides, Hermione was always happy to watch James. It was kind of how she dealed with the entire situation.
One particular afternoon, Harry sat beside Iris' bed, holding her hand. James was sleeping peacefully against Harry's shoulder, with Harry's other hand supporting him.
Harry stared at Iris, wishing she would just wake up. He needed her so badly. He wanted her so badly.
The door opened and Ron walked in. He walked quietly over to the other side of the bed to sit. Harry could tell that Ron didn't want to wake James.
"Hey mate," Ron said.
"Hey," Harry said. He looked down to see James still sleeping soundly.
"How are you?" Ron asked.
"Never better," Harry replied sarcastically. Ron took Iris' other hand.
"We're all worried about her too, you know," he said.
"Yes," Harry said. James woke up and looked around.
"She's like my sister, Harry. I love her, too. Obviously not in the same way that you do, but I do love her," Ron said. Harry's eyes began to water.
"Ron, please, it's scary enough to think that I might lose her, but hearing you talk in that way is making it worse!" Harry explained. Ron nodded and looked down at Iris.
"It's just...I couldn't bear to lose another sister," Ron said softly. At this point, Harry wanted to break down, but he knew he couldn't. He had to be strong for his son.
Yet, all the emotions that built up inside of him were immense and he wondered how strong he could possibly stay.
James made a small sound. Harry looked down to see James looking up at him. James had Harry's eyes. He had Iris' smile. Harry squeezed Iris' hand.
"Ron, why did this have to happen? Why couldn't it have happened to someone else? Why did it have to happen to her?" Harry asked. Ron shook his head.
"I'm not sure why it happened," Ron replied. Harry stared down at his wife in her slumber. Then he looked at James again. James looked like he was about to fall back asleep.
"Ron, do you mind taking him for the night? I want to stay here with her," Harry said.
"Sure," Ron said, standing up, going around, and gently taking James. "Hermione will be thrilled." With that, Ron walked out, taking James with him.
Harry rubbed his temples. He was a bad father, but he didn't want to be. He desperately wanted to be a good father, no, a great father, but he just didn't know how.
He looked back down at Iris. He leaned forward, touching her face. Her face was losing more color each day. Her body temperature continued to decrease.
"Iris, please, love, you can't do this to me. I need you. I'm not a good father. I need you to help me. I can't raise James without you," Harry pleaded to her. For a moment, he thought she was going to wake, but sadly, she didn't.
Harry couldn't hold it in any longer. He put his head down by her head, and cried.

So, that's sad, huh.
I can't give a preview of Chapter 21, because it would just give it away. Even one sentence would ruin it!
Anyways, rate and/or message.

PS= They won't let me put my cbox in. Hate this whole thing now.
