Chapter 2: A New Village
1 year later...
-Keiko's POV-
The green and brown of the forest flashed by before your eyes. Sweat rolled down your face as you ran farther and farther ahead, thinking of nothing but escaping the horde (sp?) of demons chasing after you, for the sweet flesh and blood of a child. Too tired to run any longer, you stopped and turned, facing the directions the demons were coming from. They slowly appeared through the trees, and you waited until they were attacking, before you formed a seal of tiger without the last two fingers crossing.
Keiko: Kekkai.
A pale blue barrier spread out around you, destroying all the demons touching it. When they were all destroyed, you turned again and ran aimlessly, searching for a village where you can gain power. (Author's note: the kekkai, or barrier, is a bloodline limit for your family.) As you reached the edge of the forest, a path stretched out in front of you, leading to a gate of a village. You were about to walk out onto the path when some people appeared before you on the road, never noticing you. An old man inside the village gates greeted the ones returned, and suddenly stopped, and looked your direction, frowning. All three of them disappeared, and since you couldn't see them, you left the safety of the trees' shadows into the bright sunlight. Astonished (but not showing it) at the ability of the threesome to disappear, you looked around for them, and smelled them surrounding you, hiding behind the trees.
Keiko: Come out. I know you're there.
Old man: Good job detecting us. Who are you, and why are you watching the village?
As you had spoken, they had surrounded you in a tight circle, the old man nowhere to be seen. You looked around.
Keiko: *Where is he?!*
He suddenly appeared behind you, surprising you. You widened your eyes in surprise, and drew your sword, placing the blade a hair from his throat. (He surprised you out of your normally expressionless face! ^-^) You glanced around, noticing that both of the ninja had drawn their weapons as well, and were ready to attack. You smirked, wanting to test your power against ninjas. You turned your attention back to the old man.
Old Man: Hn. Wait a minute. Don't get so worked up. Answer me and we will not attack.
-Hokage-sama's POV-
Me: *She's fast* Hn. Wait a minute. Don't get so worked up. Answer me and we will not attack.
Girl: Hn.
Me: Who are you? Why were you watching the village? Depending on your answer, we will...
Girl: Nani? What will you do? Attack?
She said that quietly, with an emotionless face.
Me: Hai. We will attack. Now ANSWER ME! (forcefully)
Girl: I do not think you are in a very good position. You seem to be important, and I could kill you with a twitch of my blade.
Me: Not anymore.
I had used kagebunshin, and now, there are more people attacking her. She removed the blade from my throat.
Ninja: Hokage-sama! Stand back!
Me: Don't kill her. Capture her and take her to my office for questioning.
Ninja: Hai.
I moved onto a tree, my kagebunshin remaining.
Hokage: *Those two shinobi are new chuunin, and it would be good training for them if this girl is a good fighter.*
-Keiko's POV-
The old man, seemingly called "hokage-sama", disappeared into a tree. They would fight you now. You smirked, waiting for the first move. Your sword drawn, you were ready.
Keiko: Come.
Ninja: You mock us?
He was becoming enraged.
Keiko: *Good. He's getting angry. They'll probably get serious now.* What are you waiting for? Scared?
He gave a yell of fury, and started attacking you, first with weapons which you blocked easily, then attacked with his fists.
Keiko: My turn. I'll end this NOW!!!
You stuck your sword into the dirt, and formed the seal of the barrier.
Keiko: KEKKAI!
You spread the barrier out, causing you to hit even the one who didn't attack and the kagebunshin. They screamed once and fell to the ground unconscious. Still smirking, you looked up at the one on the tree, and he frowned, disappearing and appearing behind you again. He held a kunai to your throat.
Hokage: Come with me.
As we walked through the village gate, he created some shadow clones, two of which picked up the unconscious shinobi. You arrived at his office, and stood there in the center of the room.
Hokage: Let's try this once again. Shall we? Who are you, and why were you watching the village? Which village are you from?
Keiko: *Kuso. I'm in his territory.* My name is Hayashi Keiko. I had no reason for watching the village, and I'm from the Miko Village.
-Hokage's POV-
Me: *I just noticed. She looks really young. About seven?* Miko Village was destroyed a year ago.
Keiko: I left the village.
Me: How old are you?
Keiko: Almost seven.
Me: Do you have a home?
Keiko: (hesitates) no.
Me: Do you want to live here and train here as a shinobi?
Keiko: (brightens briefly) hai.
Me: Then we'll have to make a record of you, and you will not be allowed to attack anyone.
Keiko: Hai.
After that, you followed a ninja into the interrogation room.
Ninja: I will have to use a jutsu to go into your memories, and write down everything I see. Don't resist.
Keiko: Hai.
He formed seals, and slumped onto the floor. You could feel him searching through your memories, and stopped yourself from putting up a barrier in your mind. Finally, he completed his search, and dismissed you. You followed a different person out the building and into the streets. In the busy roads, you could hear all kinds of conversation, even some people chasing each other. Inside, you smiled.
Keiko: *I will like this village.*
