Emptiness. I turned a full circle. Same old walls, same old ceiling, same old floor. Tattered and lonesome. Me or the room? I was in the main hall of the college. I recognized it, but it was completely empty. It was just the four walls, floor and ceiling. All I could hear was my own breathing and the nervous footfalls of my hesitation. I looked down to realize I was wearing quite a nice dress. I was made up, for something, but nothing was here.

There was completely no furniture, decorum, etc. An outline has been left on walls and floors where things were before. And it wasn't long before my curiosity seized me and I found myself walking slowly towards the exit of the hall. There was some kind of stillness in the air that struck me as peculiar. I hugged myself tightly out of anxiety.

I didn't exactly know what happened the moment I walked out of that door. I turned right and kept walking down the narrow corridors, passing empty classrooms, my acute vision allowing me to just make out the corners in this lonely darkness. The college was deserted. There was only me.

For some strange reason, I was not scared. I was beyond curious. But that still didn't explain why I found myself walking straight down a dead end corridor. It seemed to get darker, or maybe it was just my mind?

There was a door. A wooden door. I heard noises on the other side. Inhumane noises. Sharp nails scratching against the wooden floor and rugged breathing of an animal. What was it?

As if fear was not a part of my emotions, I turned the knob and nudged the door open. It creaked derisively but the strange noises didn't stop. The door flung open slowly by itself and all was revealed. My heart suddenly began to beat quickly at the sight. The horrible sight. A monster. That was the right word. It was pale, limp and scrawny. What looked human but not quite. Just not quite. A beast. It was. It looked up at me suddenly, straining its boney neck and pushing its lips back to reveal the sharpest of fangs. Black started to drip from its canines, its black eyes stared at me impetuously. No, hungrily. I stumbled back. My senses suddenly became aware of the fact that I was wearing heels. Suddenly it felt like I could not escape. The creature cracked every bone in its body as it rose from its crouch. It was no taller than me, but I knew it was much stronger. Without second thoughts I flung myself the other way and began to run down the corridor.

I heard the creature shriek horribly. And it was after me. I knew where the exit was, but the moment I turned the corner..no..it was another corridor. A never ending corridor. Confused, I kept running. I looked over my shoulder to see the creature behind me. Closing in on me. I panted in fear, tears welled in my eyes. I picked up my pace and so did my heart. I could nearly feel the presence of the creature by my side.

I looked ahead. And there was a wall. A dead end. I threw myself at the wall. I knew it was the end of me. I screamed.

I surfaced the water, gasping for air. I rubbed my eyes and blinked a few times. I caught a glimpse of Aiden disappearing out of the entrance. A vision, what had felt like an hour..had only happened in my mind in just a second. I tried to remember what had happened a second ago in reality, or what had happened an hour ago in my mind.

"Will you be my valentine?" he asked gently. He brought his hand up and started stroking locks of my black hair.

"Yes" I mouthed back softly.

"I'll see you at the dance then." He said.

"We'll see each other, sure" I smiled sadly.

"And save the last dance for me"

"Aiden!" I yelled out loud. I lifted myself out of the pool and nearly ran out after him. He turned back around to face me, curiosity and affection written all over his expression.

"I'm leaving" I blurted out bluntly.

"You're what?" his eyes widened.

"I..I can't..I have to go..I have to leave for good.."

"Where the hell are you going to go?" he asked rather angrily.

"I..I guess.."

He looked at me questioningly. He had a point. Where was I to go? There was simply no where for me to be. To be safe. No where was safe. Even though the college might be the safest AND the least safest. Where the hell could I go?

"Skye, you've come this far" he said, putting his hands on my shoulders

"I know..but..I sometimes feel like I just can't take it anymore..no matter how much I've gone through..it seems like I'm getting no where..and sometimes leaving seems the easier and most rewarding thing ever.."

"Please don't say that..it's not, you've come too far to give up. You've done too much good. Don't fucking run away" he said with spite.

"Aiden..I really just want to live a normal life." I blurted out. And I couldn't believe what I was hearing. A normal life.

Aiden looked a bit shocked, a bit disappointed.

"God, this is gonna sound so corny but listen to me. You're the most powerful creature. And I think the only thing that stops you from using your potential is fear and denial. Maybe it's time you faced your fears." He said emotionlessly.

There was a strange silence.

"Aiden..do you think I'm a vampire-mortal?" I asked with a frown.

"Well..I find that rather cute.." he mumbled.

"Okay.." I replied curiously.

"Why?"

"If the necklace was first created by angels..and the whole war sparked from there..then..why would a half vampire half mortal have anything to do with it? Why do I have it in the first place?"

"Who knows." He looked far off into the distance. "You were a bit strange at first." He smirked.

I pushed him playfully. He just smiled and ruffled my hair. I nudged him again slightly but this time he wrapped his arms around me, tight. As much as I wanted to just melt into his arms, I smirked and broke the embrace. I walked quickly over the bridge to the other side of the cliff, Aiden right behind me. I picked up my pace and tried to loose him.

"I bet I'll get back first" I yelled out at him.

"Bullshit" he replied. He charged towards me and knocked me over into the pond. It wasn't long before the water rushed past our bodies and the euphoria of teleportation took us back to the fountion in the maze. I opened my eyes and watched him drift in the water ever so godlike. I suddenly felt this urge. This physical urge right then and there, to just...

We surfaced the water of the fountain all of a sudden. I took a moment to catch my breath but Aiden had skifully hauled himself out and began to run.

I berated myself and hurried off after him. I turned into a long corridor of hedge and saw him running the long way.

"Idiot" I said under my breath. I walked quickly in the opposite direction, the short cut. It wasn't long before I turned right and saw the hidden door to the stable. I took pride in my already acclaimed victory and sauntered slowly towards the door. Listening for Aiden. I didn't hear anything. He should be here by now. I suddenly began to worry. All I could hear was the wind sailing through the foliages of the tall hedges. I heard a rustle next to me. I turned my attention towards it when suddenly a familiar figure appeared behind me and laced his arms around me in a huge embrace. The impact was so strong, the two of us continued forward and eventually crashed through the door and onto the soft hay of the still stable.

He stayed on top of me, smiling down at me.

"You're so lame Aiden!" I said.

"No I'm not!" he defended himself with a smirk. I'll be honest, he looked a bit hurt when I said that. And disappointed when I pushed him off me slightly.

He made a motion to get off me, but stopped mid way. He sat on my legs with his arms crossed.

"And?" I raised a brow.

"I win" he said.

"Aiden, get off of me" I sighed nicely.

"But I won" he said.

"No you didn't, we drew"

"yeh well..then why am I on top of you?" he leant down and whispered into my ears. It sent an amazing shock down my spine. But when my mind registered what he had just said, I felt my entire body shake in ecstasy. Aiden closed his eyes and leaned in further. The stillness of the stable was disrupted by a distant rustling of someone's presence.

The usual smell of expensive leather and classy cologne that I have inhaled a thousand times before due to some certain degree of closeness has enabled me to identify. To realize the fear that must erupt now. Because, that man was about to see another man on top of me.

Scott.
