“KUMI! WILL YOU SHUT UP!” Tarro shouted. He rubbed his ears in an attempt to clear away the awful singing. “But singing is great for marching!” “I DON’T CARE!” Kumi pouted and latched on to Akira. “Young Master…?” “The next person who sings I’ll kill…” he replied darkly. Kumi backed away from him. She busied herself with watching the scenery, trying hard not to sing. And that’s when…things were heard.

Akira stopped suddenly, making Tarro and Kumi trip and fall on top of him. There were screams and cries of the most terrifying pitches ever, and the trio had walked right into it. A battle was going on in a wide field next to the forest they were walking in, and it looked like it wasn’t going to be pretty. On one side, some regally dressed knights and their equally beautiful horses. And on the other side, barbarians…

“For the protection of the Kingdom!” A handsome and princely knight cried. The others behind him repeated his words with order. The barbarians looked around and murmured. The largest and most frightening barbarian stepped forward and silenced his army. “For…!” He started. “BECAUSE I FEEL LIKE IT!!!!” He shouted grimly. The ghastly bunch screamed loudly and the two groups rushed into one another.

Akira quickly grabbed Tarro and Kumi before they were trampled by each of the groups. He searched frantically around for a place to hide until something in the distance caught his eye. He dragged his friends, dodging the various projectile objects, and the loud death-defying cries of battle. And then…Kumi tripped. Her fall sent the three tumbling to the ground and rolling under many sets of feet. By the time they had stopped their treacherous trip under the feet of barbarians, they came face to face with a pair of boots.

The battle suddenly became silent. Tarro and Akira bravely picked their heads up and observed the battle. All the knights in their shining armor were dead…too bad looks aren’t everything. Kumi picked her head up and met the eyes of the scary barbarian they had seen before. She smiled and sat up, rubbing the back of her head sheepishly. “Sorry Mr. Scary man! I sorta…fell.” she confessed. Tarro smacked her head down. “Sorry we screwed up your war…kill her not me!” he said frantically. He drooped his head lower.

Akira stood all the way up. He was almost as tall as the barbarian. He brought both of his friends to their feet and slowly turned away. “WAIT!” Akira snapped his head back. The barbarian smiled a huge and goofy grin. “You helped us win the war!” he shouted happily. The whole army cheered. He knelt in front of Kumi and bowed. “We owe our thanks to blondie here!” The army cheered again. He turned to Tarro. “And you! Red-headed pessimist boy! You have assured us of who helped to help us win the great war!” The army cheered louder. The barbarian finally turned to Akira. “And you brave one…” he stopped for a moment and stared. “You…look familiar…” was all he said.

He picked Kumi up and swung her around in his arms. Kumi laughed in delight. He put her back down and grinned. “You kids have helped us stop the oppression of The Evil King Zingybabloowie! You are now entitled to out clan!” The army roared with loud, joyful cries. The leader barbarian swung little Kumi up on his shoulders and others from the army carried Tarro and Akira like a pack of army ants. Kumi leaned down to the leader barbarian’s ear. “So, what’s your name Mr. Scary man?” The leader barbarian smiled. “My name is Aldrych, King Aldrych!” he said with glee. “What is your name blonde one?” Aldrych asked. “I’m Kumi! And those are my friends, Tarro and Akira.” Aldrych smiled. “I think I’m going to like you kids…”
