Chapter 24 : I Can't Be Happy [Ulquiorra Schiffer]24

Oh my BOB! I am almost done fixing this entire thing. You know how it changed the layout when it switched from the old to new site. Well, being the perfectionist that I am, I had to go back in and make sure it fit perfectly with the new layout. It has been a terribly time consuming sort of torture, but here I am almost done with it! And you guys will have a much easier time reading it!

Alyson was confused at what would make her even remotely scared of Gin. He had never actually done anything to make her scared, much less terrified. She tried to think back. Had she met him before? No, never. Well, unless she had lived a past life. Had she met him the Soul Society? She wouldn't know. Alyson squeezed her eyes shut.

"This is dumb. Maybe I should go see him and prove that I'm not afraid or that I'm just being dumb," she whispered and walked down the hall to find Gin. She had no idea if there were a certain place she should be looking. She decided that she should probably go to Aizen's throne room.

She inched the door open and looked inside. Gin was standing there talking to Aizen. Where was Lee? Alyson stared at the silver hair and slivers of fear slid down her throat and settled in her stomach, churning with all that gastric acid. Aizen leaned forward in his seat.

"You think she's been reincarnated?" he asked. Gin nodded. Alyson morphed until she was invisible. He's recalling you from your previous life. Alyson's eyes widened. Whose voice was that in her head? It wasn't Lee's.

"It would make sense. Emi Tanaka wanted to name her kids after them. And there they are, looking exactly like before. And what's more is that Ulquiorra Schiffer exists. Alyson was so sweet as a captain though," Aizen continued. Alyson was confused.

"I was a nice captain?" she mouthed to herself. I'll explain it all later. And there was that voice again. Explain what later?

"I hated her," Gin said. Aizen smiled.

"And yet you loved Lee," he said. Gin nodded.

"Everything is turnin' out the same," he said. Aizen shook his head.

"I can't believe that this is Captain Anaki and Lieutenant Lee reincarnated," he stated.

"Ya should believe it. I want this to end with her dead again," Gin hissed. Alyson's eyes widened. How had it ended last time?

He killed you.

Who are you?

I'm your sword.

What?

Your sword!

No, I got that. How do you know about all this stuff?

Did you ever wonder why you had this morphing power?

I figured I was just strange.

Idiot. You don't remember me, but when Gin Ichimaru killed you, you asked me to infuse my spirit with yours. And when you were reborn, Lee was stuck to your spirit. She gained some of my power. It's sort of like she has her own sword back.

I don't get it. Gin killed me?

Yes.

And you are infused with my spirit?

And you were the captain of the tenth squad.

No that was my dad.

You trained your father so that he could take over for you.

Huh?

Here, I retained your memories, so I'll just give them back to you. Alyson's eyes widened as flashes of memories poured back into her head. When it finally stopped, Alyson grabbed her head.
"I wanted to leave that behind," she said. Gin and Aizen looked around, having heard it. Alyson slapped a hand over her mouth. She was being stupid. What kind of captain gets caught off guard like that?

"Anyway, you seriously think that she's been reincarnated and you want her dead again?" Aizen asked. Gin nodded, "Can I ask for what reason?"

"She'll interfere," he said. Aizen tilted his head to the side.

"Interfere? With what?"

"I'm not sure. I just get this feelin' when I'm around her that she is gonna take over and defeat me," he said. Alyson stared at him. So he thought she was going to defeat him.

"And you want this to end the same way, with her dead? Well, I think that if, by some odd coincidence, she's retained her memories, she won't have the same want to die anymore," Aizen said. Alyson nodded, that was true enough. Hey, sword?

It's Kasousuru.

Oh, well, Kasousuru, is there a way for Ulquiorra and Lee to remember?

I'm not sure, Captain Anaki.

It's Alyson White.

To me you are still Anaki.

I understand that, but to me, I am Alyson White.

But it's Jack who…

I'm Jack's daughter now. I may have been superior to him once and may still be superior in power, but he is my father now. I share his blood.

Alright… Alyson.

Now try and think of a way for Ulquiorra and Lee to remember.

Alright!

Thank you. Alyson walked out of the room and made herself visible again. Well, technically, Kasousuru did, but Alyson was not used to thinking about it that way. She smiled as she walked down the hall. She had been a smart cracker. And she had known Ulquiorra before! That was the biggest surprise of all. A good one, but a surprise nonetheless.

Lee walked towards Ulquiorra, who was standing at the other end of the hall. She sprinted further over. When she reached him, she put her hands on her knees. Ulquiorra looked at her.

"What?" he asked. Lee stared up at him.

"Do you remember anything that you probably shouldn't be remembering?" she asked suddenly. Ulquiorra stared at her with the 'how did you know?' look.

"Why do you ask?" he asked. Lee gulped for air.

"Because I remember my life as a soul reaper, which I didn’t even know I was. I think that Alyson remembered and it triggered a chain reaction," Lee hypothesized. She glanced down the hall when the sound of footsteps came to her ears.

"You're wrong," Alyson said, coming into view. "Well, partly."

"Alyson, what's going on?" Lee asked, scared by what she was seeing. Her memories that is. Her eyes widened as the end of her life came back to her. "He killed you! He killed me." Alyson shook her head.

"You killed yourself. Anyway, I infused my sword's spirit with my own. She kept my memories and gave them back to me. Did you know that the reason I can morph is because of my sword spirit? You got some of it too. Anyway, we kept trying to think of a way to get you to remember your past life," Alyson began rambling. Ulquiorra sighed and walked over to her. He ended up passing her and walking behind her. He slipped his hand over her mouth and put slight pressure. Lee smiled.

"That's great, Anaki," Lee said. Then she tilted her head to the side, "I meant Alyson." Alyson's eyes sparkled, signaling that she was smiling. Ulquiorra rested his chin on top of her head.

"You'll have to catch me up," he said. Alyson twisted around so that she was facing him. He smiled down at her. "Hello." Alyson smacked his chest.

"How could you let yourself turn into a hollow?" she hissed. Ulquiorra wrapped his arms around her.

"You'll have to remember that when I was reborn, I didn't retain any memories of being a soul reaper. And you got yourself killed?" he asked. Alyson let her eyes fall so that she wasn't looking at him. She traced a pattern on his jacket.

"Well, I was ready to go anyway," she said. Ulquiorra lifted her face up with his finger.

"Hm, that doesn’t seem like a good reason, but I guess what's done is done," he said. Alyson smiled up at him.

"But don't get too comfortable. I'm still mad at you for punching a hole in Ichigo," she said. Ulquiorra suddenly looked sad.

"I'm mad at myself. I'm so sorry. If I had known what I know now, I wouldn't have done any of it," he said. Alyson smiled.

"That's true," she said and buried her face in his chest.

"And besides, I thought you already forgave me," he added. Lee cleared her throat.

"What about my problem? The guy I love killed my best friend slash sister! What am I going to do? I can't be around him when I know what I know," she cried. Alyson pulled away from Ulquiorra. She walked over to Lee and slapped her.

"You're going to act like you don't know," she said. Lee held her cheek.

"What was that for?" she asked. Alyson shrugged.

"They do it on the movies when people freak out. I wanted to try it out," she said. Lee glared.

"I still can't. I'll screw it up!" she said. Alyson sighed.

"Then what are we going to do?" she asked. Ulquiorra walked over to them.

"You could pretend to be her. Oh, wait. Then I wouldn't have you. I don't know how I like the sound of this," he said. Alyson glanced back at him and smiled. Then she turned to Lee.

"You know, it doesn't matter. We're going to figure out what their plans are and then beat the crap out of them." Alyson shook her head, "I just can't believe that this is all Aizen's doing." Ulquiorra put his arm around her.

"Well, it is. We just have to make this work," he said. Alyson looked thoughtful.

"Maybe we should go back to the real world for a while. I want to see if I can find Shinji or maybe to Soul Society to see my dad," she said. Lee grinned.

"We so should!" she said. Ulquiorra stared at both of them.

"Won't Aizen notice?" he asked, foiling their plans. But Alyson thought of a way around it.

"Ok, Kasousuru, it's time for our souls to part," she said. Her body glowed brilliantly and when it faded, the other woman was standing there. Lee shook her head and smiled.

"If it isn't the old lady," she commented, which got her another slap. Then Kasousuru turned to Alyson.

"What do you need me to do?" she asked. Alyson smiled.

"Well, part of you needs to pretend to be us while we're gone and the other part needs to turn back into my sword. We're going to the real world," she said. Ulquiorra sighed.

"Is she acting as me as well?" he asked. Alyson nodded. Kasousuru was already morphing. There was a sword in Alyson's hand and a double of each of the 'captains' and 'lieutenant'. Alyson glanced at her sword.

"Can you handle all of this?" she asked. The sword vibrated. Alyson took that as a yes and then looked at the real Lee and Ulquiorra. The copies had already disappeared to begin their acting. "Ulquiorra, open up the portal, please." Ulquiorra sighed.

"All right. Let's get going," he said and snapped his fingers. The portal appeared and Lee ran in. As she passed, she grabbed Alyson's arm and dragged her in after her. Ulquiorra shook his head and followed the two girls. So she did what I asked her to. She did it perfectly. I feel so horrible for leaving her. I'm very happy that she's thrived. Well, thrived, died, and thrived again. It's still a relief, Ulquiorra thought. And the portal closed.

Shinji sighed, which was strange in its self. Shinji Hirako didn't go around sighing. So Hiyori kicked him in the face.

"Hey, Baldy! Just because you're pining for Ichigo doesn't mean you need to sigh about it!" she shouted. Shinji turned away.

"I'm not pining for Ichigo! I was thinking about someone," he said. Hiyori stared at him.

"Who?" she asked, completely clueless. Shinji glanced back at her.

"Alyson," he said. Hiyori tilted her head to the side.

"Well, she died! Who knows where she is or what she's doing! It isn't like she'll remember you anyway," she said, trying to make him see that it would be impossible to know where she was. Shinji shook his head.

"I wasn't hoping to see her again, thought that would be nice. I was just remembering all the times we've spent together since I found her," he said. Hiyori tried to kick him in the face again. He caught her ankle again.

"I don't want to hear your sob story, baldy!" she shouted. Shinji shook his head.

"You wouldn't understand," he told her. Then he let go of her leg and she fell to the ground.

Alyson tossed article after article of clothing behind her. Lee stood off to the side waiting until Alyson was finished. She was impatient, however, seeing how she was yelling at Alyson to hurry up. Alyson finally stopped throwing clothes and walked out of the room.

"You are such a strange child!" Lee called after her. Alyson's laughter floated back to her.

"I'm older than you!" she called and Lee rolled her eyes. Quickly, she chose some clothes that would be acceptable for the real world. Then, quicker, she changed into them. Alyson walked back into the room with Ulquiorra. Lee pressed her lips together at the sight of him.

"Did I do something wrong?" he asked. Alyson glanced at him, pulling her hair back simultaneously. She pointed at his mask when her hair had been effectively pulled back.

"You can't seriously go around with that thing on. Kasousuru, do you mind hiding it?" she asked her sword. Suddenly Ulquiorra's mask was gone. Alyson smiled and patted his head. She could still feel the horn of the mask.

"Is that better?" he asked. Alyson nodded and kissed his cheek. Then she sprinted out of the room. Lee and Ulquiorra shook their heads.

"I wonder if she's enjoying remembering or if she's enjoying being back in the real world," Lee said. Ulquiorra nodded.

"I think it's both," he replied. Lee nodded and both of them followed Alyson out of the room.

Urahara looked up, as his front door slammed open. Yoruichi sat up from her position on the ground. Then they glanced at each other. Urahara shrugged and walked into the front room. Alyson stood in the center of the room.

"Long time, no see. How's it going, Kisuke?" she asked. Urahara tilted his head to the side.

"Excuse me? I am Urahara to you," he said. Alyson shook her head.

"I'm a higher rank than you. Well, I guess not really, but I was a captain for longer than you," she said. Urahara's eyes widened.

"Yoruichi! Alyson's here," he called. Yoruchi came into the room with a 'yeah right' look.

"Don't be stupid! She's in Hueco Mun…" Alyson waved.

"Hi ya. Miss me?" she asked. Lee entered the shop with a scowl.

"Stupid kids!" she grumbled.

"Welcome back, you two," Yoruichi said in shock. Alyson shook her head.

"Three. Ulquiorra came too," she said. Confusion was apparent on the two former captains' faces. And then Ulquiorra entered the room. Alyson tilted her head to the side.

"Something's still wrong," Lee commented, looking at him too. Alyson put her finger on the lines going down his face.

"Those need to disappear for a while too." And they did.

"Captain Schiffer!" Yoruichi exclaimed. He nodded. Alyson smacked him.

"Say something, stupid… I mean Captain," she corrected, seeing the look on his face. Then he smiled and pulled her towards him.

"Are you going to accomplish what you came here to do or not?" he asked. Alyson seemed to remember why it was she came over to the shop.

"Right! Do you happen to know where Shinji is?" she asked. Urahara shrugged.

"I'm withholding that information," he said. Lee's scowl deepened. Alyson pursed her lips.

"Well, that's just too bad," she said and pulled her sword out of thin air. Urahara let his mouth fall open.

"She released her sword. Ah, crap," he said. Alyson raised her eyebrow.

"That's completely out of character," she commented. Urahara shrugged. "Anyway, where is Shinji?" Urahara shook his head and revealed his own sword. Alyson shrugged and morphed her sword. It now looked exactly like his.

"I'll show you where he is," Yoruichi said, stepping forward. Then she glanced at Lee and Ulquiorra. "But they'll have to stay here. Shinji doesn't really want to see them. Well, at least it seems like that." Alyson nodded.

"You two stay here," she said. Ulquiorra narrowed her eyes.

"Maybe I was wrong," he said. Alyson tilted her head to the side.

"About what?"

"Maybe some people who don't want power really shouldn't have it," he replied. Alyson glared. Then she sheathed her sword.

"Then you can't blame me. This is your doing," she said. Then she grabbed Yoruichi's arm and dragged her to the exit. "See you all later." She and Yoruichi waved goodbye. Then they disappeared.

Hacchi looked up from his spot on the floor. Shinji glanced at him.

"What is it?" he asked. Hacchi stared at him.

"My barriers aren't supposed to be penetrable, but someone just slashed right through it and entered," he said. The others looked up.

"What should we do?"

"We wait for whoever it is to show up and then we slaughter them," Hiyori said. There was a giant explosion and through the dust, two silhouettes were visible. They were female.

"Well, I just stopped by to say hi and then maybe ask for a huge favor, but it appears that instead I'm going to be slaughtered," a voice called. Shinji looked up.

"Alyson?" Then he fell back as a body collided with his.

"Shinji! I missed you!" Alyson said staring down at him. Shinji's eyes widened.

"I thought you were dead," he said. Alyson nodded.

"I was and then I was reincarnated. You remember Jack White? Well, he was my dad and Emi Tanaka was my mom. And Lee was my twin. And then we got kidnapped by Aizen, but we didn't know that we had ever been soul reapers so we were confused and stuff. But my sword's spirit was infused with mine so she helped me remember and then we found that she had also retained Lee's and Ulquiorra's memories for some reason. Oh, Ulquiorra got turned into a hollow. And then when we all remembered we came back here to ask for your help because Gin wants to kill me again," she said. Shinji put a hand over her mouth.

"You are the teenage version of Alyson. Who knew you were so talkative?" he commented. Alyson's eyes sparkled.

"Ew cut yer fair," she said. Shinji removed his hand from her mouth.

"What was that?" he asked. Alyson frowned.

"You cut your hair!" she said. Shinji rolled his eyes and shoved her off of him.

"What did you need again?" he asked. Alyson smiled.

"To defeat Aizen," she replied. Shinji stared at her intently.

"Well, tell me what the game plan is," he commanded. Alyson nodded, completely serious now. She launched into her story and what she wanted to do. The vizards all listened; this pertained to them as well. Yoruichi knew she would probably be pulled into this as well, so she sat down and paid close attention. Alyson stepped back into her 'one of the captains of the Thirteen Court Guard Squads' mentality and Shinji was glad she was back.
