Loud music and my best friend always make me feel better.
Unfortunately I knew I had to go back and face my friends the band I was producing.
As I walked back towards our particular studio which was down the hall from Katie's,
I heard raised voices.
"Your such a fucking asshole!"
"Seriously Brian you fucked up bad this time!"
I almost giggled thinking about all of my friends who I had practically grown up with.
Defending me like I was their little sister.
I knew though that I couldnt come between them, that it wouldnt be right.
Not only were they bandmates now, but they had been friends way before I entered the picture.
I turned the door knob slowly almost as if warning them I was coming,
giving them time to prepare and shut up,
maybe stop sending Brian the evil glares I just knew were
smothering him right now.
I entered the room with the biggest fakest smile I could imagine and prepared
for the glare I would no doubtedly extract from Brian.
But all I saw was the top of his head, he was looking at his feet almost ashamed.
While the other band members glared at him hostilely.
I made a small joke to try and ease the tension but it didnt work.
"Guys my shift is over so if you want me to keep producing you, you have to talk to Mrs. Wilkins"
I smiled sort of pathetically and almost prayed they wouldnt.
I almost prayed that they would just leave and I could go back to pretending I didnt
remember who Brian was and that he had broken my heart the last time I had seen him.
But of course they didnt.
"Of course we want you to produce us!" Matt said loudly almost as if he thought I was stupid for even
doubting that they wanted to be with me.
I just nodded smiled again and gave them hugs goodbye.
Everyone but Brian.
I walked out of the building and left them in the studio.
They can find their own way out I thought to myself bitterly.
I dont need your authority
down with the moral majority
